Dame asks for trade (And there it is)

I'll throw this idea out there - it's a variation on others:

Miami gets their guy. The pick they receive would be the lowest of the Denver/PHX '25 picks - thus allowing them to unlock the '24 & '26 picks to send to Portland.

Orlando upgrades their SG spot, and fights for a playoff spot. They give up 3 players who don't contribute much. The Orlando pick given up would be lotto protected.

Portland gets 5 picks and Jaquez. They take a chance on 3 others (Ben, Jovic, and Okeke) to see if they will be able to play well enough to secure their next contract.

Nets improve their roster construction, while dumping one year off of Ben. Nets are primarily included because the '25PHX pick is needed to go to Miami to unlock their other picks. The '25Denver pick is lotto protected, and although it is most likely to convey - it's not guaranteed.

Miami should not be allowed to protect any pick they send to Portland

GEE I WONDER WHAT THIS COULD POSSIBLY BE ABOUT

Ah, the lyrical labyrinth that is Damian Lillard's rap game – weaving tales of triumphs and challenges, both on and off the porcelain throne. Delve a little deeper into the rhymes "getting better with my time... I knew what I wanted, had to make up my mind, took a little patience... now it all aligns," and you might just unearth a tale of digestive derring-do.

Seems like Dame's not just dropping bars, but also finally finding the secret recipe to drop a deuce with finesse. The line "getting better with my time" could well be a nod to those clock-watching moments spent in the smallest room of the house, where he's contemplating life, liberty, and the pursuit of regularity.

And when he croons "took a little patience," it's like a soulful ballad of waiting for that magical moment when all the stars align and the porcelain throne becomes a place of triumph rather than turmoil.

Let's not forget the whispered rumors among the janitorial staff who toil tirelessly at the practice facility – tales of Dame's audible battles with his own body's tempo. But now, it seems, those struggles have culminated in a symphony of syncopation and release.

It's as if the ghost of our good ol' great-grandpappies is nodding in approval, for Dame has waltzed through the pages of history and emerged victorious, finding a rhythm that resonates with the echoes of ages past.

So here's to Damian Lillard, the lyrical wordsmith who's turned life's little digestive conundrums into a folksy saga of triumph over tribulation. In the grand tapestry of human existence, he's woven a thread that reminds us all – even in life's most intimate moments, there's always room for a little poetic finesse.

I don't think Dame is messing up this trade. I think it's nobody in their right mind would pay Kyle Lowry 28m is what's messing up every trade.

The longest dog Dame days of summer ever….

I think Dame is in the starting line up opening night boys and girls…

Not everyone matures at the same rate and the same time. If simmons is healthy, id take a shot at him, but not straight up. There must he more than that for Dame. If its a three team, question is what would the mets want for him? Herro, i think i read they weren't interested?

Another factor. If we traded Dame for Simmons fillers aNd picks, Ant probably needs to stay.
We would have two poor shooters who like to play downhill with the ball. Scoot and Ben. They will need shooters like Ant.
More i think about it can a team do anything with two average to poor shooters who both like to drive downhill? Is two one too many? Or would they sub each other and who gets cut minutes?
Not sure that could work.

I'm beginning to believe he will retire a Blazer

Not sure about that. If scoot and shae turn out to be what i think they can, there wont be much room for Dame, unless he is open to taking the vet min after his supermax is up. We will have to pay scoot and shae around then.
I love Dame but i think he is traded at the deadline.

Anfernee isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Somebody has to score consistently in Portland. The Blazers might be stacked with 11 rookies and sophmores going into the season. Stuff might get wildly bad next year, but as long as Anfernee is filling stats on fantasy teams, it will soften the blow for Blazers PR representatives.

Depends upon who you believe

Depends upon who you believe

I assume it is not legit but if it was......maybe someone made an offer for Ant that Portland liked enough they are willing to take Herro. I mean the main reason Portland does not want Herro is because they don't have room for him.

I love this. If Dame, Ant and Nurk are outgoing with only picks (three or more [unprotected]), drafted prospects two or more and salary filler that balance out the roster are incoming I'm fine with it... as long as Joe has a few vets as backups to show the prospects the ropes. Honestly we may already have those in Jerami and Matisse (five years in the league and three seasons over 60 wins with 25 games of playoff experience).

c'mom...Blazers sending out 93M in salary? Try and make that work
Here you go. There would be a lot of risk here, but the talent would fit well (assuming everyones heads are on straight)

Starting lineup of:
Scoot/ Shae / Grant / Ben / KAT

Tweet only said 3 team deal though, not 5. Also, why would the Wolves give up Miller too?

Otherwise... looks decent. Would make next season very interesting.

You misspelled "sitting at the end of the bench".

barfo

Honestly? Im not sure i could stomach that.
This has been a churning season for the queazy stomachs like me. This has all made me sick. Dame brought me back to the Blazers.(helped that i move back to Portland as well. :) but it took a few years to go from casual fan back to diehard fan and Dame was the switch.
To see him sitting on the end of the bench is going to evoke a wild contrast of emotions with anger battling sadness. It will distract from my want to be excited for scoot and shae.
I think he plays. I think we start Dame and Thybulle and bring Shae and scoot off the bench together.

whatever happens, i want scoot and shae on the floor at the same time. They must start together or be subbed in together.

Jody won't trade Dame's supermax contract for another supermax contract, unless it's expiring.

Portland drove Lillard over the edge by surrounding him with a Summer League team in the dwindling years of his prime, I think with the intent of dumping him on a poopy team for extra bonus picks.

Call me a conspiracy hack, but i think some weird stuff went down when Cronin had talks with Dame & his Agent. Maybe a package to send Lillard to lowly Detroit was brought up? Imagine how long that conversation lasted? Something made Dame spaz out and go public with "Miami Only".

Yes the Blazers own Lillard's contract and can send him wherever they want. I understand the Blazers have all the power and leverage over the players that they sign. But the Pistons?? Man... that's a death sentence for a healthy All-Star iconic NBA player fresh off the best in-game performances of his career.

Portland always says they "work with their veteran players to send them to agreed upon places".

mm hmmm.. sure... just like the Blazers said they felt obligated to build a winner around Lillard, become ridiculously aggressive signing free agents, trade for big name players.

The Front Office wants everyone to believe they tried. .

Meanwhile we get rumors that Cronin never even picked up the phone, had no interest in trying to get players. Actions speak louder then words. Portland traded whatever they could for future picks, drafted 3 rookies, called it a day.

Anyways, budget baby Blazers rebuild is already set with salary floor requirements. I know Cronin is really good at squeezing in a contract to stay under the tax, but if we're talking a multi-year supermax... that's exactly why the Blazers don't want Lillard here anymore.

Ben Simmons expires next year? Cronin can get that to work. But Jaylen Brown & KAT ... Jody ain't buying that

It's pretty much been confirmed that Pascal vetoed a trade to Portland near draft date so i'm sure we tried

why would the nets get a pick for trading simmons?

I am sure a Net's fan would say "Why would we trade Simmons for just Caleb Martin"?
I doubt they count the 37-year-old Kyle Lowery as an asset.

would Pascal be stuck playing Center on an inherently undersized team? That's a horrible fit. Can't blame Pascal for not wanting to get creamed in the paint on a Blazers team with no big men.

1 phone call does not equal ridiculously aggressive
