Dame to NY done deal!
Because of the shoe colors?Dame to NY done deal!
I mean for his trolling. But was just a joke. Not if it is to Brooklyn NY
Because of the shoe colors?
How do we know they weren't? The talk leading up to the draft was the Blazers will get their best, final offers when they're on the clock at 3. They decided they weren't trading the pick days before that.If nets were willing to give up Mikal for #3, I bet Joe makes the trade.
And what's more out of this world, than a sun?!PHX.

Because it was public? Cronin informed Dame he was using they were keeping the pick, they talked on Tuesday two days before the draft. All the reporting in the week leading up to the draft was that Portland was keeping it.Link?
How do you know this?
I thought that was supposed to be the meeting where he told him there were trades that he was working on that were already dead? Clearly he wouldn't tell him 2 days prior we're keeping the pick, while ALSO saying we've got our irons in the fire on deals, since those deals would almost certainly utilize the #3 pick.Because it was public? Cronin informed Dame he was using they were keeping the pick, they talked on Tuesday two days before the draft. All the reporting in the week leading up to the draft was that Portland was keeping it.
The fact is that for whatever reason Joe did the opposite of what his goal was. Dame had made it clear that if that were to happen it wouldn't be the path he was going down. I don't blame Joe if he was making the best decision he could for our franchise. I don't blame Dame for wanting out.Anybody remember Dame saying there were 5 guys who wanted to play with him in Portland and 2 were gettable? Was that a lie? (see how that works?)
I'm confused by the continuation of this storyline. Where was the discrepancy? Cronin said his intention was to build a winner around Dame and didn't? Is that what we are talking about? Does that mean you're under the impression that Cronin lied and is a liar?Because it was public? I'm certain many a Blazer fan looks at this differently. More specifically, I think most of us think that the right deal never materialized. We got Jerami and then nothing else was really good enough to trade either pick (#7 last season or #3 this season) for. So we didn't. Even the deals that were theorized were underwhelming: Ant and #3 for OG or Pascal or even Bridges doesn't seem quite good enough.
I will say, it is curious that we didn't figure out a way to free up the pick owed to Chicago. Perhaps Chicago wouldn't cooperate, but if you're going to try and build something around Dame it certainly would make sense to open up more avenues to do so, ie the ability to trade future picks.
I think Dame realizes if Miami doesn't happen he 's still under contract and would plan on starting game 1. He knows, he can always set down later with Joe and work out a mutual plan that involves several teams. If nothing happens Dame goes to work like he always would do.
Great post.In the early days of the trade demand, we kept hearing about how keeping a disgruntled Dame was bad for our team and we should just move on. "We owe it to Dame." "We don't want Scoot to be burdened by all this." "The team needs to move forward with the youth movement." "How will our young guys interpret dicking around with Dame?" All that chatter has fallen by the wayside as the reality that there are no deals and there is no rush to get something done. It's just not a Seller's market in August, but it probably will be in a few months.
Dame doesn't want to wait, and the Heat don't want to wait, but the Blazers....really have no incentive to rush this once you get over the above nonsense arguments. We lost Roy, Oden and Aldridge without compensation. We're not going to lose this cornerstone player without getting everything we possibly can. Not while the aftertaste of the Gobert and AD trades still linger.
Meanwhile, I wonder what it's like being a member of the Miami Heat right now, where rumors have swirled around lots of different players in a Dame deal. For a team that just made it to the Finals, it's going to be a really weird season for them until this is resolved.
Miami is going into the season with a big "NBA Finalist" bullseye on their chests. They sell a lot of tickets when they win, and not many when they lose. It's a team built on sacrifice and chemistry and the Dame situation has to be messing with that. It's not hard to imagine them really not doing well coming out of the gate, feeling desperate, and offering more just to save the season.
We may not care about winning, but Miami definitely does. This may be the best reason to wait.
Oh okay. I missed that Cronin interview, I guess. That certainly makes sense then. Damn that guy is transparent.I agree with most of what you said in your post, but I think it’s pretty clear that Joe played his cards right regarding the pick owed to the Bulls. He said in February that the Blazers had touched base with the Bulls pretty much every trade window to sketch out the outline of a deal to free up the pick should a trade come along that demanded it. Presumably that was done again in late June. Since no suitable trade was found, the pick gets kicked down the road for another season. Since it’s top 14 protected, the Blazers are almost certain to retain and use it in next season’s draft. Because the Blazers are likely to have the worst record in the West, if not the league, that should be a very valuable pick. Once Dame asked out, any incentive to trade the pick in a deal for a player became moot since the pick has more value to a rebuilding team.
I think it really was some kind of ludicrous trade idea.He is mad because Joe chose Scoot over OG
Sure, anything is possible and maybe they’ve had a discussion already or a few of them? Maybe they haven’t for whatever reason. Blazers are not obligated to work with Dame, but they will, at some point. How long does Dame need until he realizes now is the time to sit down with Joe and work out that mutual plan? I would say now is the time to open up his list of preferred destinations to four or five teams. If he thinks keeping it real as some call it here is working, think again. He is not part of marketing and Joe has not shown one iota of budging on this matter, nor should he.
Blazers decided they weren't trading the pick when Joe Cronin took office. How do we know they weren't? The talk leading up to the draft was the Blazers will get their best, final offers when they're on the clock at 3. They decided they weren't trading the pick days before that.
Nate that is one of your dumbest takes yet and the reason Dame has not been traded yet is Cronin has screwed this up so bad that he is slowly becoming heck maybe he already is a laughing stock of a GM in NBA circles. This whole Dame situation is what backs up my argument that they lied to Dame cause IF they would have had a plan to phase Dame out after landing Scoot this would all be a mute point but it's not. Instead we are in the middle of a complete cluster fire that Joe and Vulcan has created just because it could not shoot straight with Dame. This is the truth like it or not this is it and IF you want to be a dumb ass lemming of a fan who believes the BS this front office shovels out go for it but just know your the one who is going to be made to look like a clown not me or others who know the real deal of it all. ---
I think the guy must be going through something. He doesn't resemble the Dame he has been, not just here, but at Weber State. Strange.Did you guys see Dame's interview with Marc Stein today? He says that his loyalty thing is actually, "I have always said I will stay loyal to myself".
Aside from being a lie, it's such a stupid comment. Who isn't loyal to themself?
I can't believe what a bullshit this guy had become, overnight.
That's the point. That's the mirror image of Miami's offer to us.Cronin wouldn't say no.
I've long been concerned about the state of Turkish culture in Portland.Sounds like we need to improve our culture then.
