Dame going to give Chauncey a shot

Has it been mentioned yet that the Sixers just hired Dame’s trainer? No joke.
He's also CJ's footwork trainer and Ant's trainer for the last three years and a lot of other NBA player's trainer....Dan Marang interviewed him today..it's a good listen on youtube..

This is some weird stuff you had to say man. Dame wouldn't be a role player on any team in the league. We didn't get bench vets markedly better than Melo and Kanter in my estimation and I guarantee you that's Dame's take because he fucking worships Melo and loves Kanter. The second hand info we just got through Haynes wouldn't trouble anybody if the last time we heard Dame speak on U.S. soil he hadn't said that he didn't know where he sees himself in the future and the team needs to show urgency in trying to win a championship to help him figure that out. But we should all be sunshine and rainbows, I guess.
you don't need to agree....Dame is king of the mountain here...you think he would be on the Nets or Lakers? He has no incentive to ring chase in his prime..what the hell is weird about that? He respects Melo and Enes but knows our bench under produced all last season with them...he's no fool.....you're welcome to read whatever you like into it. I'm fine with what we're doing right now. I heard all Dame's responses and he said the only way he'd leave is if they don't want me...so sure...if we traded him he wouldn't know what the future holds...no basketball players usually do unless they have a no trade clause..as to sunshine and rainbows...just enjoy the summer, find something to cheer for and try not to practice depressing yourself over a game with a ball...it's not that serious

I don't think many national media analysts would give this roster a chance of a deep playoff run. The lack of a true PG to come off the bench is disturbing as we learned last year.

There is plenty of time to make changes to the roster but there are zero indications that that will happen based on past performance. Also Dame made it clear that the roster was or is an issue. But you are correct that it's not time yet to panic.
He did unload Melo and Kanter who are useless defensively. That is a positive and so is signing Norm who appears to have a great "fuck you" demeanor, imho, which this team needs. Norm goes to the rim FIERCE.

For me signing Powell was the #1 objective and we did it at a decent salary. Now we need a vet power forward imo. There is a time for signing FA’s and there is a time for trades.

Neil is so Damn set on CJ being the back up PG or Simons.

Apples to oranges comparison. Actually, seems to me by your reasoning that Lakers fans should be more upset because they know what it takes to win and Carmelo Anthony starting isn't likely to help them do it.

We now return you to your regularly-scheduled b****-fest.

meanwhile...you can take time for more virtue-signals

I'm starting to think I might need to take a break from this board for a few months. We have absolutely no idea what the Blazers really are going to look like on opening night yet and we have a new coach with dramatically different ideas than his predecessor and everyone is going on this negative freakout because we haven't made the move they want yet and we're back to panicking about Dame based on speculation.

I like to watch sports to get away from the awful stuff in life, but coming here is like seeing your whole family as part of the horde of zombies after the apocalypse. It's not fun reading the board these days, and I think it's going to keep spiralling every day the Blazers don't trade CJ or fire Olshey. Seriously, ASPCA and UNICEF infomercials are more upbeat than this board right now.
Maybe try somewhere else - like Reddit:

Cool, you want to look at things that way but don't quote Dame out of context and outdated. Dame saying the only way he'd leave is if they don't want me, is an old quote that he basically retracted by saying "I haven't made any firm decision on what my future will be." and everything that followed that. I would encourage you to watch that presser again... it will take less than fifteen minutes of your time and give you a clearer perspective on what the people you're interacting with in this forum are reacting to.

I don't understand how any fan of the team could possibly think we won't be contenders.

I mean, a team that hasn't made any substantial moves, a team that their star doesn't think the roster is good enough and believes a coach couldn't fix their problems smells contender to me.

Ya'll need to take a breather and believe in Neil. He has never let us down in the last 9 years he has been gm.

In Neil we trust. If you don't, you are a hater.

Green font all that up there and Fuck Neil.

I won't disagree with you or even respond to your answer, unless you ask me something in return but I'm just curious. Do you feel comfortable with the team starting Dame, CJ and Norm together?

I've seen this many times and his tweets back and forth with CJ and on and on...I don't read into it that he's straddling the fence...you go ahead and do that...I have a very clear perspective on what the forum is reacting to and I think it's based on unfounded panic and very little substance...enjoy the off season....Dame hasn't made me feel any sense of discontent moving forward...people are just overreacting. All the words I've heard on the Chauncey and Neil meeting in Vegas were that they're on the same page...the rest...click bait Dame wants a better roster...I think we'll have that and we've shed a lot of defensive weak ends so far. I also really believe Chauncey is the guy to fix this. The other thing is...we could all be wrong about how the team looks next season. I don't claim to know but I sure as hell don't worry about it. So far no complaints...I even like the summer league team

I want a legit big ass scoring power forward so we can balance the starting lineup. Im thinking CJ is a goner as part of a deal as to when it happens?
There haven't been many trades as yet and the two guys talked a lot about are still not traded.

I think a big trade is in the works and probably involves more than two teams....we're loaded with combo guards and lacking power forwards....I really want to see what Beasley has in the tank in summer league...he plays PF and can play it well.

It's really the only way they get better.

Sorry that I'm breaking my word about responding @Hoopguru but I just wanted to say that I really hope both of you are right.

More than probably anything I want Portland to embrace the Chauncey era and show some love to this team and remind Dame why he loves Portland....my worst fear is that fans become unbearable and ruin a damned good team culture...we're just starting to become a place players will want to play with Dame..all that can disappear in a flash

This is so dumb. Billups (not billions, stupid auto correct) was reportedly Dame's choice so of course Dame is going to give him a shot.

In other astonishing news, cats eat mice.

How anyone can be sunshine and lollipops right now is beyond me. How anyone can trust Neil is doing what is right for this team after 9 years of verifiable fuck ups...

Pardon us if we don't exactly trust he knows (or cares) what the fuck he is doing.

For the record, I can compartmentalize. It's fucking great.

Just fucking trade the guy for a boatload, at this point I’d get more excited about possibly winning the lottery than watching the Blazers win 45 games and lose 2-4 in the first round, which feels like a typical Blazers season for the past decade.

Man you all sound like me now… what the hell have I been telling ya smh lol

There are few things, that are beyond obvious right now.
1. CJ is Olshey's golden boy and in his eyes CJ is worth Embid. Rest of the league see CJ value differently. Hell, no one even cares about him, cos everybody wants Dame now. Cos of Dame situation, CJ value is even lower now. Ergo: There is no point to trade CJ now.
2. Billups wants shot with Dame. Of course he would be disappointed to came here and lose Dame on day one. Trading Dame would make his start much harder.
I think there is nothing wrong about waiting few months and check the waters for Billups. What I hope, he can put CJ on a leash and put him out from being one-dimentional player. If Billups will have positive "new coach" effect on the team, CJ's and Nurk's value will go up significantly.
Other thig is, that after few months we will know what Little can do and if Blazers should let him play in S5 or just a backup.

All in all. Stotts was the main problem here in my view and it is better to wait and see what Billups need and make this big trade later.

Our lineup is number 4. Morey is not trading Simmons for anything other than Dame…
