Dame has requested out. So what happens next? Nurk is still on the roster and we just signed Grant to a massive contract for maximum years.

Does Nurk get included in a trade with Dame? Do we try to trade Grant at the trade deadline? There would seem to be a lot of collateral moves that will now need to be made.

That Blazers get fucked and suck for at least a decade...that's what's next.

To address the OP, trade Nurk, Ant and then Grant. We can keep Ant if he's OK coming off the bench behind Scoot and Sharpe, but likely that won't fly so lets get a pick or a young wing/big for him.

The good news is this. With Sharpe and Scoot, we will have the best back court in the league in 3 years. We just need to start drafting forwards and bigs, we also need to tank for the next 2-3 years. Btw, this is the right move, Grant signing aside, from a coldly logical point of view as all the Trade Dame guys said. Now that my emotional bond is broken, I see this is definitely the right move with Denver in the West, we didn't really have a shot for another 5 years at least and that's right when Sharpe and Scoot will start peaking. Our timing is great, now we just have to worry about SAS and other up and coming young teams. This is painful, but if we get a good haul for Dame this could set us up for the next 15 years to have real success. If we didn't have Sharpe I'd be super crushed right now, but we DO have Sharpe and that kid is going to be an ABSOLUTE MONSTER. Now we need wings and bigs.

What does our young team need? Grant will be traded at some point so we need a young forwards and one young center.
I am not sure signing a mediocre free agent is that imperative right now. We will be getting plenty of those types of players in return for Dame.

As much as I am heart broken but I am curious to see what this new young core can do the problem is this front office. I do not trust them as far as I can throw them and I want Jody gone ASAP and that is still not soon enough as far as i am concerned.

Yeah I want Phil Knight to buy the team ASAP, but greedy AF Jody wants to keep it until two seconds after the new media deal. I guess she doesn't have enough unearned billions yet For Fucks Sake.

You say greedy, I say smart.
Dude she's legally not supposed to wait that long. I don't understand to be honest how she could refuse Knight with an above market value and the mandate to sell by the estate. I guess she can afford the best lawyers to over turn her brother's wishes. She doesn't give AF about the franchise or the people of Oregon. Her UNEARNED (bears repeating) Billions apparently aren't enough.

I hope Nurk goes with Dame. All of the above would be the best thing in my opinion.

I chose "other"
Sure they can sign a cheap free agent (like that center who plays overseas that someone said we have an interest in) but other than that I would wait until we see what the return is. Yes, Nurk needs to be moved but that will take time so I doubt it will be our first move.

I am extremely concerned with Cronins ability to get value for Dame. If he sends him to Miami and we get Herro Duncan Lowry and pick swaps, I’ll hang up this blazer jersey forever.

If Portland is going to honor Dame's public request to go to Miami, it's a very similar situation to Beal where he had a no trade clause. Miami doesn't have a lot to offer and they have no incentive to get a 3rd team involved.

How soon after Grant signs can we trade him? Obviously a sign and trade would be nice though

They can pull a Minny, which waited a year and a half to trade Kevin Love.

Then we don’t trade him to Miami. Why should our organization suffer so he can go bring glory to Miami after we have given him half a billion dollars in contracts. He’s choosing this path and we should not get fucked in the process.

I don't think anything really happens outside of what we get back for Dame. I don't see a rush to trade Nurk and I would keep Ant for a while (and maybe longer then a while, depending on how it goes). I also not losing sleep if they go though.

I get this theory at face value. Unfortuately it doesn't really work this way.

Hopefully we get a huge return for him, but I don't see that scenario playing out unless there is a 3rd team that wants to help us and Miami; which doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

We should look at the fine print of the Grant contract and try to cancel it. Failing that... we should look to trade Dame for the best return, look to trade Grant for the best return, and look to trade Nurk for the best return.

There's no reason to trade Simons, and I think Nurk is the lowest priority to trade of the three guys above. Nurk's value is about as low as it's ever going to be (between his contract and his lack of production recently) so we should wait until (a) his contract is closer to over, and/or (b) he has a good month or two of basketball. Either of those will improve his trade value.

In terms of Simons: a three guard rotation of Scoop/Ant/Sharpe is pretty good and they shouldn't step on one anothers' games too much until/unless both Sharpe and Scoot emerge as guys who shoot a lot.

So, Spurs also on the list?

Nurk&Dame
For
Keldon, Vassel, Dougie, Branham, Birch and Graham. And whatever picks.

If the trade is to Miami, I'd have to think Kyle Lowry would be one of the pieces coming back (even in a multi-team deal). I could see him being renounced or retiring, though.

I don't see Nurk being kept. Wouldn't shock me to see him go with Dame and be a backup for the rest of his career. Of course, the Blazers are going to need a big, even a journeyman big, on the roster. Maybe more than one.

Again, if it's the Heat, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Jaquez is one of the players coming to Portland.

I think Grant will be traded before the end of the season. Still wouldn't be shocked to see Ant traded, even though his timeline fits with the Shaedon/Scoot team; kind of depends what comes to Portland in the trade.
