Zombie Derrick Jones to Portland

They have to want to play here. This deal tells me that those guys.....didn't want to play here.

I don't have any info to know which of the available players were willing to consider Portland or who we wanted.

If my math is correct we are at 125 million with 3 roster spots left. Lux tax is 132 million, so we can use the full BAE + 2 vet mins and be just right under the lux tax. Talk about cutting it close.

Neil likes to leave a roster spot open....the rookie might get a two way contract instead of a guaranteed roster spot as well

Can we re-sign Whiteside at this point? Either for the purposes of keeping him or sign & trade purposes?

a bit disappointed by the Jones signing.... thought we might have done better

Couldn't it tell you that we didn't go after them? We have as much info to confirm that as we do your theory.

Wtf is with olshey giving guys way more than needed to sign them? Turner 70 million when he was hoping for 30. Jones would've loved this offer on a one year deal then we give him a player option on year 2?

How long have you been following Portland in free agency?

Let me see -- Portland in the playoffs could not stop anyone and in the offseason so far NeO brings in Covingston and DJJ both can defend but some like Bone Jones ( ? ) on there stream are having a Cow over this move -- fans have short memories

I don’t get all the dismay. Young defensive role player to help Dame and CJ be able to concentrate on being offensive beasts.

Just look at the wing defense next year vs last.
Little with 1 more year experience
Hood back healthy
Covington bringing both ends
Jones who is a fantastic athlete and long as shit
Trent Jr if we go small
No Mario

those are all big positives. Only drawback is no Ariza

im loving it, especially adding some bench scoring in Kanter. We just need Collins to be healthy and a back up PG

I’m happy with this move. He is a lanky defender with great energy

Do we really need more shooting anyways? Dame, CJ, Gary, Hood, and Simons are gonna be shooting enough threes. Not to mention Covington is going to be hoisting them up frequently.

Defense was much more of a priority IMO.

maybe Olshey can call Stauskas so we can get a shooter.

our teams inability to spread the floor and beat the trap in the playoffs would tend to indicate that yes we do need more shooting.

Maybe Olshey found a hidden gem. Let's hope. I like him but not at this money. Hoping to be proven wrong.

I'm wondering what's the deal with Nassir's PT and Wenyen Gabriel/Carmelo/Hassan.

jones jr is not signed to shoot 3 pointers, but to defend and hes good at that

blazers needed wings that can defend and olshey signed covington and jones jr, whats not to like
Thank you. It’s like every player better shoot 40% from three.

Well. We had Trent and Melo last year, both 40% shooters, and we couldn't beat the trap. I think playmaking more than shooting is what we need.
