Talkin Ball after the game?

In the last part of the show, with something like three minuets left, That bald headed panty waste said "I have talked to sources in Seattle, and Paul has been talking to people about selling the team"

Now, I am aware of the self promoting puke and his desire to creat controversy, but I cant help but think that once again, what we are being told, and what is the truth may infact be two very different things.

Because Dwight Jaynes, who has no sources in Portland, has even better sources within Paul Allen's Seattle operation. Sure.

I think PA is bad JUJU for this team and this town. The sooner he's gone the better! I pray he sells the team!! The fans wont leave the Blazers cause that egocentric meat sack bolts and takes his Vulcans with him!

I couldn't agree more. I'm always surprised by how little criticism Allen receives for the handling of this team. He's either disconnected enough to have some bozo at Vulcan make decisions for him or he's too hands on and should listen to his baskeball execs. I'm not sure which one it is but I've never been all that impressed with any alleged advantage his money has supposedly brought to the Trailblazers. I mean if the next owner doesn't have as much money and can't "buy" picks at the end of the first round does anyone really care?

If you look at the history of the Blazers under Allen's ownership they've gone from a well respected organization that players were willing to play for to being an out of the way destination that includes jail blazers, the mishandling of Bill Schonely and former players, stadium drama and mismanagement, poor draft picks, not paying players he should but paying the Darius Miles characters of the world, and piss poor GM hiring or firing. I could go on but I know I've said enough about the Blazers. Having said all that, take a look at the business success (or lack thereof), that he's experienced outside of Microsoft. If I owned a chain of Taco Bells I would not want his organization in charge for crying out loud.

Brian Berger made this point on his radio show last week. Basically, he said that if you look at it, it looks like PA has been prepping the team for a sale this year: Shedding salaries and costs and increasing flexibility so that whoever buys the team would be locked into few long-term contracts and could install his own GM, his own coach (or GM/coach) and even his own players. And the team is finally profitable.

it actually makes a lot of sense.

And one could surmise that PA does not have another rebuilding effort in him. I know how he feels!

You should never start a thread with,"Brian Berger said".......... almost as bad as, "Canzano said".....

I don't know if he will sell, but the team has hardly ever been better positioned for one.

I sure hope he sells, and anyone else that wants professional sports in Portland to grow should want him to sell also.

Dwight Janes has talked about PA selling the blazers for 3 years now. I dont' trust a word that comes out of his mouth. Besides i'm almost 99% sure he sells it to Larry Millers group if he sells it. I can't find the article but when Larry Miller took over as president it was one of the stipulations was he would sell the team to Miller if he sold it.

It has been clear since the day Miller was hired that his purpose here was to prepare the team for sale. PA already knew Roy's knees were going and anyone with a brain knew Oden was toast.

Just look at the transactions from that day forward and you'll see no attempt to better the team's performance, nor any investment in troublesome contracts. Just the opposite, really. Every move he did was designed to cut strings.

It's not like I haven't been telling you guys this for 4-5 years now.

Yes, quite plausible. But that doesn't necessarily make it true.

Well, ok, as long as you are sure it is one extreme or the other but not somewhere in the middle, I'll take your word for it. You seem to have a good handle on the situation.

Having said all that, take a look at the business success (or lack thereof), that he's experienced outside of Microsoft.

Having said all that, take a look at the athletic success (or lack thereof), that Michael Jordan has experienced outside of basketball.

There's no other sane reason to go 2 years without a GM and watch your team implode.

Well, I think it has been less than one year since Cho was fired. And I don't know that firing Cho saved a future owner any money or increased his/her flexibility. You can fire the GM anytime. And sometimes teams implode even when you don't want them to. Still, it could be true that the team is about to be sold.

Maris is secretly working on a deal to move the Blazers to Bend.

I feel like it's not as simple as does PA want to sell the team or not. He's an impulsive man. Somedays you can tell he's disinterested, other times he's engaged. Remember, he didn't have to get Crawford. He went for it, and when they were 7-2 and people were talking WCF he was into it. I still think he's hoping for one last ray of hope. If they hit a HR with draft picks/FA/Trades this summer, I think he's all in again. But if we don't. If we somehow get the 8 seed, and NJ either keeps (top 3) pick or we get their pick but its not as high as we like . . . If we don't end up with high lotto (s), and don't make. FA ot trade splash then I can see him waving the white flag and selling.

God, you're such a fucking troll, I don't know why I even bother to respond to your fabricated bullshit. You just make shit up and hope people will accept it as fact.

Well, here's a couple facts that prove what you just wrote is total bullshit.

Larry Miller was hired on June 20, 2007. Brandon Roy had just finished his rookie season and was still over two years away from being eligible for a contract extension (August 9, 2009). So, if Larry Miller was hired to prepare the team for sale, and PA already knew Roy's knees were bad, why did they sign Roy to a 5-year max deal over TWO YEARS AFTER MILLER WAS HIRED? You're so full of shit.

When Larry Miller was hired, the Blazers hadn't even drafted Greg Oden. If Miller was preparing the team for sale, and PA knew Oden was toast, why did they draft him? Why waste the number 1 over all pick on a guy they knew was toast. How does that make the team attractive to potential buyers?

Right, see above. Roy's 5-year extension, Aldridge's extension and drafting Oden weren't moves to better the team's performance? What about signing Camby to a two year extension and trading for Gerald Wallace and his big contact? Pretty much every move the Blazers made from the time Miller was hired until two days ago was done with the intention of improving team performance.

Hard to believe anyone can be so wrong for so long and still think they are right. Finally, after 4 - 5 years of trying to build a contender and being thwarted by injuries, they decided to blow it up and build for the future. To say they've been cutting corners for 4 -5 years is just asinine - at least when you examine the actual facts, not the made up ones.

What kind of calendar are you using? Cho was fired less than 10 months ago on May 23, 2011. Again, you just make this shit up and hope no one notices.

Uh oh Maris...... doesn't look good FAMS! This is like the very end of those old Perry Mason episodes when he busts out all the evidence.
