in olshey i trust, if they want to pick him at 11, im going to hope for the best

I think (if true) he'll likely be picked at #6.

No way do you shutdown workouts at #11 when teams like Toronto could legitimately take you at #8.

Tice, WHO IS YOUR SOURCE?!

I agree with Fez in that you dont shut down work outs for an 11 promise. But if we are making a promise to him at 6 I would be a little disapointed. I got to think that you take the best talent available at 6 and I've read plenty of scenarios where one of the so called "top 5" slips to 6, in which case you at least have to consider them.

Another possibility is with GS at #7.

They've been talking with Philly for Iggy and have that pick on the table.

Makes a lot of sense for Philly.

This kid is getting some bad advice.

From the article on Pg.1 scouts rave about his scoring ability.

During the combine one scout/analyst said he's the best SG prospect in the draft.

It's hard to evaluate him as a fan because he was basically college basketballs James Harden (6th man) -- Scouts have a much clearer picture of his upside.

But then again, I don't trust our scouts outside maybe Mike Born.

Draftexpress tweeted Phoenix is the likely team to give Waiters a promise.

The two guards I don't want Portland to take: 1 Waiters 2 Rivers. I've never been impressed wit Waiters...I don't get the hype...Bayless had soo much more promise when he was drafted then Waiters will ever have IMO... Also, if we take Waiters over Ross or Lamb, I'm gonna be royally pissed! No more tweeners who can't shoot!

Tices' thread had me thinking but the more I think about it the less is makes sense, at least at #6.

Why make that kind of promise when Anyone of the slated top-5 picks could be there at #6.

You'd look like a fool taking Waiters over MKG, for example.

I didn't get the impression they wanted to take him at 6 either, so if he's gone before 11 I would be surprised if we grabbed him.

LOL at this thread, Waiters was not promised by Portland, move on

I don't think I started this thread saying he was promised anything...

Selective reading by some of the posters. Waiters passes the eye test, so obviously they would be high on him. I hope they know to stay away from Syracuse players is all

I've been turned off on Syracuse for many years. Another one is St. Johns. Mediocre Man is right. What you see is not what you'll get.

With the 6th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, The Portland Trailblazers select....

I can feel it.

Just watched some vids of this guy. He looks fat. And slow.

Yeah Wes measured 6'4" barefoot and Waiters is 6'2.5"

If we get Waiters I will be royally pissed off.

No one should be shocked if Waiters is picked as high as No. 6 to Portland.

Ohhh gosh this would be worse then picking Nolan last year. Probably my worst longshot fear of the draft. Entire section about Dion is this:

• Last year, the promise of first-round selection was given to former Boston College guard Reggie Jackson, who was locked down by Oklahoma City late in the first. The latest is Syracuse's Dion Waiters. The chatter at the pre-draft camp in Chicago centered around the Toronto Raptors at first, but general manager Bryan Colangelo publicly denied it. Phoenix is another possibility, but the Suns pick at No. 13, and Waiters will likely be gone by then.

No one should be shocked if Waiters is picked as high as No. 6 to Portland. Waiters has been shut down by his agent, Rob Pelinka, and even canceled interviews before departing Chicago last week. Waiters could be the first playmaking guard selected. He was Syracuse's top talent this past season, even though he came off the bench for the Orange.

Oh please gosh no don't be true...

Tice's source said (apparently) that the Blazers are beyond high on Waiters...

That thread came out of nowhere and over a week before the combine.

Makes you wonder...

If this happens lets start a fire Chad B now petition.
