I disagree that DeRozan is better than CJ.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/tiny.fcgi?id=WZY5E

He's 2 years older.

He's a free throw whore.

CJ is a SIGNIFICANTLY better three point shooter. 40% compared to only 31%.

DeRozan had a higher USG% but only averaged 1.5 more ppg. DeRozan is their number one option on offense. But he barely averaged more points, and that's because CJ is a shooter. I think if you put CJ into an offense that utilizes him as their primary scorer, he could average 25+ ppg. Easily.
Your statistical analysis is beyond flawed:

Getting to the line is a skill, and FTs by good FT shooters are the most efficient shot. Derozen shoots 5 FTs for every 2 CJ shoots. You somehow turned that into a negative against Derozen, which shows bias.

You're taking a stat that isn't affected by min per game (usage rate) and using it to judge a stat that is affected by min per game (which is PPG). That's an error in sampling. FYI - Derozen gets 3.1 more points per 36 (the same difference in their usage rate), and does so more efficiently (55.5 TS% compared to 53.6 TS%).

His usage rate is also affected by a slightly higher amount of turnovers, but he has more responsibility creating assists, which aren't factored into usage. His AST/TOV ratio is much better than CJs (2.36 compared to 1.79). Derozen is a much better playmaker for others than CJ is.

The result of this shows another advanced stats:
OFFENSIVE BOX PLUS-MINUS:
DD - 2.7
CJ - 1.4

OFFENSIVE WIN SHARES:
DD - 6.8
CJ - 3.7

Derozen's also (likely) a better defender.

Poeltl is also as good of a prospect as Collins. So it seems to me like you want to believe that we could've traded CJ for Kawhi so that you can justify your annoyance with Olsheys overall inactivity, so you picked certain stats and spun them a certain way in order to do so. I'm annoyed at his inactivity too, but not inn regards to this, since I try to judge everything fairly and unemotionally.

They actually had a winning season without Kawai and took a game from GS in the playoffs.
If they can bring another good player or two like VanVleet in this trade then they'll definitely have a chance to make some noise next year with Pop as their coach.
Can they trade VanVleet?

Wow. I never knew my whole character had so much competition. I thought there was onl one other character here. Obviously I sucked. I guess I’m just gonna have to learn from the old timers.

To be fair yes he's about as useful as Maris is on this forum.
But at least Maris is good at being a troll.
The other guy isn't so much as he gets butthurt very easily.

Right before Shams announce that San Antonio and Toronto are in advanced talks for Kawhi he told his buddy Woj to write about our fake attempt with San Antonio, only to specify that Lillard and CJ weren't in the deal (because either way he would have make McLillard unhappy).

Every time there's a big trade/signing he tells Woj to mention our fake attempts, it happened with Paul George, it happened with Cousins and so on...

This franchise is really in a state of disgrace, the jokes about our Summer League championship are on point, it's the only title we can dream of...

Gee, just what this forum needs is another bash Olshey thread. If he reads this forum, then yes, he probably thinks there are lots of idiots.

Neil is a coward... scared to take a risk... that is why this team will never go to the next level. Toronto GM knows when to shake things up... Raptors were much better than the Blazers but had plateaued so he made a major move to shake things up... Neil would rather go with the status quo because it’s safe and the team is just good enough to make playoffs to keep most stupid fans happy... even tho over half the teams make playoffs... not really an accomplishment if you can’t win a playoff game... but people will keep buying tickets and Neil will keep his job... so it will continue to be status quo

Well I am sure he thinks some of us are idiots. I know I do. (And yes I am sure some think I am as well.)

Listen to the way he talks in these SL interviews or in press conferences.

He's an ass and is always condescending.

So yes.

I'm certain Olshey could sing a splendid version of the Star Spangled Banner and you would be annoyed and think he was singing it in a very condescending voice.

Why should Olshey care what we think? He doesn’t work for a bunch of message board pontificators/wannabe GMs. Sure, part of his job is presenting the team in a positive light, but that’s where it ends. His only real concern is what Paul Allen thinks.

If Kawhi is injured still or never reports to Toronto would that change your mind?

And you would buy every thing even if he's dead wrong.

Don't you tire?

It has always amazed me how many posters in a forum fail to grasp that concept and think they know better than Olshey. Paul George re-signed, Leonard traded to the east and now the Butler proposals will heat up as some of these posters think we are the only team in the NBA to make deals with.

Incorrect. I just don't whine and cry about every little thing. I must have really hit close to home for you to resort to name calling.

No... because players like that don’t become available if there isn’t a risk... I’d rather go big or go home than keep watching the same roster compete for 7-10 seed and lose in the playoffs. At least change keeps things interesting to watch at the very least... I know in this case CJ wouldn’t have been enough value to get Kawai, but I’d keep looking to trade him and shake things up... Jimmy Butler would be my next target... and even if he left after a year, it’s a salary dump... CJ is way over paid at 26-30 mil per year for the next 3 seasons

Hey, if whining and crying about everything is your shtick, you do it very well. Keep it up.

It's not your fault. He's a very old meme. He has been running this gag for years and years. He and Maris sometimes tag team, but the gag is the same. Kingspeed is also a meme, and he even admitted once that he does stuff just to rile people up, but he's so much better at it. Sometimes it's very hard to tell that Kingspeed isn't serious. With Jlprk, I can actually see his smug smile through the internet.

Maris ain't no meme...

HEY GRONK. WHAT PART OF NOT WANTING TO DEAL LEONARD TO THE WEST DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND? SPURS HAD ALREADY SAID THAT AND YET HERE YOU ARE IN DENIAL. NOW ACT ON YOUR WORDS AND GO HOME AND QUIT WATCHING THE BLAZERS.

Calling someone a coward behind their back, imo as an old man thats been around, is very cowardly in itself. Must make you feel 10' tall.
Yeah is wasn't taking a risk when he drafted Dame in the loot or even CJ in the first, both players from small schools! My initial thoughts on both those acquisitions were, man thats taken a risk!
Grow Up son and know the world doesn't evolve around such negativity. Use that energy to help someone today or post a few positive things without so much hate.

Who freaking knows how realistic it is we could’ve got Kawhi. I don’t know where he’s at mentally, I don’t know where he’s at physically.
I can understand not wanting to give up CJ for all the question marks here.
Now the assertion that Neil was using Woj to say things because he thinks we’re stupid is kind of funny, unsubstantiated but funny. I never seriously thought we had a chance to get Kawhi.

CJ is overpaid but DeRozan isn't?

im coming to terms of acceptance with what we have. its tiring to get my hopes up for something great.

so, to answer your question, yes, he does.

The salary dump helps us how? To sign all the top free agents we normally get?

So if Raptors got Leonard for Derozan, the Blazers could have had him for CJ. Damn you Neil
Unless Pops was serious about not trading him to a Western Conference team.
