So Kayvon goes #5 while our new coach's former Defense has 5 guys go in the first round including the #1 overall. I'm thinking this bodes well for Duck recruiting[/CaptainObvious]

it will certainly amp up defensive recruiting, especially with Lupoi, Tuioti, Powledge and Martin as defensive coaches. There's recruiting power there, and if the Duck D looks good next season, they'll be adding some elite defensive recruits. Lanning being able to say he coached a defense that had 5 first round picks will be golden

I do think quite a bit will pivot on Dillingham and his offense. If he succeeds, sky is the limit....until other teams start trying to hire assistants

Gotta love that SEC arrogance. I mean, it’s justified, but let’s see what Lanning can bring to the Ducks in the next few seasons.

Wilner is a writer in the Bay Area....Pac-12 all the way

Okay, I didn’t know that. So Bay Area jealousy then?

he has rarely written positive things about the Ducks. He was an AP voter a few years ago when one of Chip Kelly's teams was consistently rated in the top-5. Week after week Wilner voted the Ducks in the 13-16 range when the next lowest was around 7. Seveal national writers called out Wilner for this

I'm kind of surprised that Sly is hanging out in a Duck thread:

I’m surprised that McKinley didn’t get drafted. I thought he had a lot of NFL potential

Irving looks like he'll be challenging for the starting spot, I love the jump cuts and quickness. LMJ-ish

The other shoe to drop is we should expect a few more current Ducks to enter the portal as Oregon is now 2 over the scholarship limit.

there are a couple of players, including Tom Snee, the punter, who are on scholarship but not listed on the roster. JJ Greenfield was like that last season and lost his scholarship. He's back with the team now but as a walk-on...at least he was the last I heard

QB Dante Moore out of Michigan visited campus last weekend, rivals has him as a top 10 overall recruit.

According to Dante's dad, the trip blew them away. He had all sorts of glowing things to say about Oregon and Lanning.

If you watch the tape, you'll see he has great physical tools, but I really like that he seems so calm and collected in the face of pressure. He has that same demeanor in his interviews.

Talk about a quick release. His arm goes back in an instant then shoots forward like it's spring loaded.

Let us pray :smiley-drzifige:

nice day yesterday...back to shit weather today

so, a couple of time-wasting videos from more innocent pre-Covid days:

and, since Animal House is the gift that keeps on giving (watch thru the end if you need the dancers identified):

and, since we have Beevur fans hanging around this thread, the traditional Shout between 3rd and 4th Q celebration:

I won't even mention the 38-29 Duck win

I've never seen the Ducks in on so many top recruits. The list of who has already visited & who is scheduled to is filled with elite prospects. 2023 could be a really special class.

The Oregon Brand is rather unique. The uniforms; the facilities; the Duck; the geography; Phil Knight & Nike; Mariotta's Heisman; the lasting memories of Chip Kelly's offense (and Animal House). Adding to all that are the national championship games, national exposure & 3 Rose Bowl wins. Kids know who they are and that includes kids from SEC land

so yeah, with that elite roster of recruiting all-stars the Ducks could really show up well in the 2023 class. But it will require that coaching staff to prove they are as good at coaching as they are at recruiting. Next season offers a lot of opportunity. But the schedule is filled with land mines. Georgia and BYU are huge OOC challenges. Stanford has been kryptonite for Oregon every other year it seems; and Utah dismantled the Ducks physically last year, and are on the schedule this year. A 7-6 or 8-5 season would be a big rain cloud on recruiting

Justin hebert looked like an average qb under mario. Mario was garbage.

Not at all. He was the one who finally showed what you can do with all the pretty toys Uncle Phil has gifted the Ducks over the years.
