The really good college coaches all seem to be egotistical sleaze bags. Chip always came off as supremely arrogant. I think you need to be a prick to succeed in college. That attitude doesn't work in the pros. Not in football or basketball.

I get the feeling that Peterson could still be a possibility, only because he hasn't come out and said, its not right for him at this time.

He's noted as an incredible & energetic recruiter with an excellent defensive mind. And the Ducks want to have elite-level recruiting

Chip & Wilcox are a long ways from elite recruiters

I think Lanning will probably be the hire. The Ducks have been losing commitments mostly on defense. This might stop the bleeding. But, like Taggart, much will depend on the assistant coaches Lanning hires, if he's the choice. Especially the OC
 
This situation is such a shit show, I can't even find it in my heart to tease the Duck fans. First, all their shitstain recruits bail out. Way to honor your words you little punks! Then the school decides they will neither find someone with ties to the school nor a proven, successful coach. Here comes Taggert 2.0.

Why should they have to "honor their words" when the coach they signed on to play for is no longer there? That's just stupid.

Lol, still trying. They could do worse, but from what I've read/he isn't a top target. Additionally the leaks of Oregon's interest are thought to be from his agent trying to bump up his next UCLA contract.

Lanning is supposed to be one of their top targets and is said to have crushed it in the interview. However, he has joined the other voices denying that he's been hired and seemed pretty irked about it getting out.
