Quick: Historically, other owners have committed years and put in money …

Dunden: In Portland?

Me: Yes, in Portland, dumbass. Ever hear of Paul Allen?

This guy comes off more arrogant than Donald Trump. I didn't think that was possible.

You feel me?! Like wtf u mean in Portland dumbass

It was one interview and it was with Jason Quick... maybe Dundon is a guy who mirrors smarmy energy.

I don't think a hyper driven, results oriented owner who comes off as arrogant is a terrible thing or something unique in the world of NBA ownership. He comes off almost like he's doing a Mark Cuban impersonation... early Mavs ownership Mark Cuban.

Dundon doesn't seem like the kind of guy I want to hang out with but he does seem like the kind of guy, who might push our team to more success than we've seen in a long time.

I don't follow the NHL closely enough to know but the biggest worry I have with this small amount of information, is if he'll be giving more interviews than anyone else in the organization. Hopefully closer to Cuban than Jerry Jones.

he should respect our city better than that tho

Like I said that's a Jason Quick interview.

I don't know what Dundon's tone of voice was and Quick has a history of annoying the people he interviews.

The fact is that Jody and Bert put the onus on our city when they gave the city the Rose Garden/Moda and a 20 year commitment is a long ass commitment. The follow ups to that were pretty combative from Quick but he got what he wanted. That "In Portland?" quote will definitely get a lot of buzz. I don't think it was disrespectful to our city.

Paul Allen was low key actually more of a Chesapeake owner if you look at his last 15 years owning the team before he died. Blazers were bottom 5 of teams in the NBA in luxury tax paid along with all the other small markets that never won a title (outside SAS)

People give Allen credit for the 2000 SPAM era but that was a long freaking time ago - more than a quarter of a century.

All of Dundon responses seem fine to me. You want an owner that is excited to compete and employees all happy to work hard for. Jody provided basically none of that and even Paul Allen himself while I think a good owner wasn't really a motivator. As Dundon said ultimately I'm more interested in the results than the talk though.

Will the team make moves that are part of a cohesive strategic plan? Often the Kolde/Cronin era frusterated me in that we seemed to be trying to do dual timelines strategy of rebuilding long term while overpaying vets to win immediately. It's much better to pick one direction and having all moves follow that strategy.

I hope Dundon doesn't do any shortsighted win now moves. Often new ownership is in such a rush to immediately compete they make poor decisions. We will just have to see what the moves are at the draft, free agency, and next season and then we can start judging them.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

Noticed Tom had his Whalers hat on, which was the team that moved from Hartford to Carolina because they could not cone to a deal for lease and arena remodel. Tom wasnt involved in that move however becase he had not bought the team by then. This was his message to Blazer Maniacs that he would have kept them in Hartford if he was purchasing the team then? Thought it strange he would sport that hat on National TV at that game? Hartford had a rich tradition in Hockey like Portland with roundball.

Yep, this is my concern as well. Learn from the Phoenix owner's mistakes.

that Durant trade certainly changed the trajectory, and not in a good way

the trade for Beal was dumb but the cost looks to be pretty low. The Wizards won't be swapping 1st's any time soon

the Suns did salvage some the Durant-->in cost with the Durant-->out trade

That sounds like what Neil Olshey would say if he bought the team.

When are we going to invite this new ownership team here so we can tell them how they should run the team?

heel Tyle has lived in Oregon for only two-plus years, but he says he already has an understanding of how deeply the Blazers matter to Oregonians. He went to high school in Rochester, N.Y., and the passion of Portland fans reminds him of the civic bond the Bills had with Buffalo and upstate New York. “Sports are one of the great unifiers, where people from different backgrounds, different religions, different beliefs, can rally around the same thing,” Tyle said. “We need that, in Oregon and in this country.” He says his financial commitment, and his local presence, will give Portland a voice if relocation is ever broached by the rest of the ownership group. Tyle insists moving the team is not on the table. “I don’t want people to be concerned or scared,” Tyle said. “We are committed to Portland, 100 percent. Full stop.”

Yes, according to reports from April 1, 2026, Tom Dundon, the new owner of the Portland Trail Blazers, wore a Hartford Whalers hat while attending a Blazers game against the LA Clippers. [1, 2]
  • The Context: Following the official approval of his $4.25 billion purchase of the franchise by the NBA Board of Governors, Dundon was spotted at the Intuit Dome in California, where the Trail Blazers played the Clippers.
  • The Outfit: He was described as wearing gray sweats and, notably, a throwback Hartford Whalers cap during the game.
  • The Significance: As owner of the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes (formerly the Hartford Whalers), the hat was noted as a humorous nod to the franchise's history and a casual choice for his first game as the new Blazers steward. [1, 2]
Dundon also brought this "intense" energy to a morning shootaround at Santa Monica College, wearing the same Hartford gear, as he took over the reins of the team. [1]

don't know if it means anything at all:

Im totally sure they're having a Donny brook right in front of fans, including several children and a few Blazer fan.

OR, probably, it just means they were talking about something (not saying anything about your stance on things Wizenheimer)

Next season, our new owners should bring Jody down for a game, and they should hang a banner in the rafters to honor Paul.

While we didn't win a title under his ownership, he was a great owner, and it was a hell of ride during his tenure.
And she didn't try to burn the team down a la Rachel Phelps.

It's a big nothing burger to me. But Blazer fans and the local media will always make a mountain out of a molehill.
Looks like they were talking about the X's and O's of basketball. Joe was explaining something to Tom. If it was some sort of argument, I doubt Blazers President Dewayne would be ignoring the conversation like he was.

I read body language pretty good. That was not an argument.

They could be talking about how the hell we got Deni so cheap or how bad the Super Bowl was. Who knows? Let's hope Dundon lights a fire under Joe going into the off season.

That in Portland comment was odd.. don’t like his vibe. Sounds like he’s disappointed blazers likely staying in Portland

Somehow I got blowhard vibes. Reminds me a little of another guy who is short on specifics or a plan. Seems as if he will be very unhappy if we don't make the playoffs; I wonder if he even knows we will lose the draft pick?
