Do you think Elleby will get a 2nd contract in the NBA?

Because they are in rebuild mode. Blazers aren't. Before the season Blazers were touted as having the best offseason and being one of the best in the west. So much for that.

Agree with the last part. Though we came in today tied for 4th in the West missing a chunk of the roster people used to predict us to finish between 3rd-9th in the West.

I thought he played just fine toinght, didn't you? Defense is still an issue, had a bad turnover, but also hit some tough shots.

yeah, he played fine. Defense was bad, but he hit shots and made some decent passes

I was just commenting on the narrative that was essentially "Simons would have had more assists if teammates would have hit more shots". That's the case for every player in every game

Shit! I missed this game. I assumed it was a normal starting time.

Why didn’t Elleby play?

True

Oh yeah, and we played at 10 a.m. Pacific time. That definitely screws you up, too.
That would be a valid excuse if this were the first game of the road trip but they’ve been on the East coast for a week already.

Disagree. It's still morning in Oregon. It's mid-morning. It's a very unusual time to play.

wow....it's not just some Blazer fans objecting
To be fair Hollinger is big on efficiency so you could see how he would hate Melo playing... oh wait, everyone should be big on efficiency? Alright well this seems like a solid take then.

The game wasn’t played in Oregon. A week is plenty of time for your body’s circadian rhythm to adjust.

He really needs to work on the other end of the court. His defense is bad. Other teams search him out. If he could even become a mediocre on that end it would really help.

They really seek him out? So we have defenders on this team that our opponents would prefer not to match up with?
You make it sound like he never plays good D. No doubt he is a work in progress on that side of the ball, but I have seen some plays where he plays good D. The effort is there, the athletic ability is there, he just makes too many mental mistakes at this point. (i.e leaving his feet)

Dame wasn't as typically explosive as he can be. He clearly was laboring most of the game after taking a shot to the ribs early. He deferred a decent amount. The offense was our typical offense. TBH, going to more movement I don't think would have been beneficial, because he needed to conserve his energy. It was what it was.

So Blazer get the W in Philly cos of hustling and energy but we couldn't play that tonite cos Dame was hurt?

that's really stretching pretty hard to give him props. Dame would have had 20 assists tonight if "not for missed shots". That's something that happens to every play-maker, every game

So you are saying that he is becoming a good playmaker, but that his teammates need to make their open shots. Agreed

here's a radical thought: the Philly game was a total fluke and very little about the game is really sustainable

That's probably true, but If I was the coach, I probably would have rested Lillard and Jones another game (or a half if the experiment failed), just to see what would happen.
