¿QUE?I would think no since he was in the last two.
Over the last ten games Scoot is averaging (per 48) 21.6 points, 8.2 assists (3.4 TOs) and 5.6 rebounds (.1 more than Jerami). He's also shooting 11/35 from 3. Not bad!
His FT% is not amazing at 77%, but his FG% is his real weak spot at 37%
He's put together good games before, usually 2 or 3. His issue is keeping it up and not going from solid performance to being invisible on the court and not a detriment to the team.
He needs to string together 5-6 games in a row (or 5 out of 7 games) where he's playing like this. Not saying he has to scored 19 points and have 10 assists to 1 turnover type numbers though.
I think it needs to be a 20-30 game stretch as a gauge. His clunker rate has been 50-60%. That needs to drop to 10-20%. he doesn't need to have a great (for him) game rate of 60%. He just needs to cut way down on the terrible games. That's the first step to consistency
At this point, 5-6 is the step he needs to do, and then we can hope for a 20-30 game stretch.
I understand that. I'm just saying we need at least a 20-30 game sample size to gauge what kind of consistency is sustainable. We know he can have a great game every once in a while. What we don't know is how often he can have solid games compared to clunkers. The clunker rate has been way too high so far
And we won't know until he's given the reins...
I'm fine with them looking like clowns for now. We'll get better draft position and they'll get the clown play out of their system when nobody is watching. The goal will have to much more limited: How many plays involve him without his losing Blazer possession. Currently, including his best games, he causes a loss of 2-possessions-in-a-row at least 3 times per game, and 3 possessions-in-a-row about once per game. And that's in limited minutes.
Unless you're living in a hopeful dream, you know by watching that he's not ready. He'll look like a clown if he tries to last a full game. Same for Clingan.
Anyone still think he has Derrick Rose level athleticism?
I still can’t believe people were buying that from Peek and Vecenie
The guy is young, and has spent his entire life thriving on his athleticism. He is now faces talent that negates that value, and he will have to adjust. I get the feel that he is all in, and will develop the finesse he needs. Still early in the game. The problem is that he doesn't know what to do with his bountiful athleticism. He has no drive to innovate or imitate the moves of the greats. Coaches must spoonfeed him nibbles of knowledge, like Meyers Leonard, who had no athletic instincts. Little Scooter is way closer to being a natural than Leonard, though. Sorry I made the comparison.
We could have had this kid over weak ass scoot

I don't think it's a stretch to suggest that Amen and Deni could be a very effective pair of point-forwards.Thompson is a Forward?
Who do you sit if you want Thompson? Deni? Tou?
I'm assuming you are not implying that you would play Thompson at PG? You do realize Thompson can't shoot right? He's shooting 24% from three.
Understand I don't like the way everything went down. I would have kept Dame. But then you didn't like Dame either. As I recall you continuously called him "weak ass" as well. Just wondering where you are going with all this?

Thompson will likely need the ball in his hands at the NBA level to unlock his full potential, which could be All-Star level, but how quickly he gets there may depend on if he lands on a team with or without an established point guard. Unquestionably, he’ll get easy points and make a defensive impact through his top-shelf athleticism, but playing off ball isn’t his strong suit. Thompson holds similarities to a wing-sized Ja Morant or a more athletic Ben Simmons.
Yep. I would have kept Dame if at all possible. The buzz with Amen going into the draft was that he could be a point guard. In fact, the high level upside was based on him being an on ball creator.
Now imagine Amen/Deni/Toumani in the same lineup. That's a KILLER lineup defensively. Add in Clingan and that should be a top 5 defense. You could probably hide Dame in that lineup and still have a top 5 defense.

and a bottom-5 offense
Wouldn't be anything different than we what have right now, would it? The argument is Scoot vs. Amen. I'll take bottom 5 offense top 5 defense over bottom 5 offense bottom 5 defense.
You do just realize that guy is a troll in here. He won't reply to you either. I just scroll past anything he says lolThompson is a Forward?

I think the problem is assuming that a team can be great on one end of the floor while sucking on the other end. I think the suckage wouldn't simply stop at the equator
I'm also thinking that out of the foursome of Amen/Camara/Deni/Clingan there is likely no all-star level upside. There is also nobody who can consistently create their own offense at any consistent level. It could be an entertaining team, but probably never contending
If the Blazers had drafted Amen, I'd think they'd be better off right now having a Knecht or McCain or Da Silva + the 2029 1st + the two 2nd's.
Yeah but you don’t keep Dame and the pick? Well maybe but I thought he wanted the pick traded for help now.Yep. I would have kept Dame if at all possible.
I wonder how this team would be performing if they did pick Thompson and tried to keep Dame?I don't think it's a stretch to suggest that Amen and Deni could be a very effective pair of point-forwards.
Also, if we had drafted Amen, it's likely we wouldn't have traded for Deni in the first place. But if we did, there's no reason they couldn't co-exist.
Regardless, hand-wringing over who we didn't draft is silly.
Scoot has 1 ok game out of every 10 outings, and some diehards come here and act like people should "eat crow" over 1 game where his shooting % isn't abysmal.

He did. Had to trade him and Scoot was widely considered a top three pick by virtually everyone.Yeah but you don’t keep Dame and the pick? Well maybe but I thought he wanted the pick traded for help now.
