Bleacher Report ... lol

Overpaid: Ed Davis (three years, $20 million remaining)

Underpaid: Mason Plumlee (three years, $7 million remaining)

Ed Davis and Mason Plumlee are remarkably similar players, which is why it's hard to fathom how one makes almost three times the money of the other. Yes, part of that has to do with the limitations of rookie-scale deals, but we're not making exceptions for that.

Both are limited offensive players who finish well at the basket while contributing roughly average defense and rebounding.

The key here is that they'll be asked to do one thing on offense: roll to the hoop. According to NBA.com, Plumlee and Davis are almost identically effective at that critical job, ranking 11th and 12th in efficiency among bigs with at least 50 rolls last year.

These guys are going to do the same things this year, and they're going to do them equally well. Yet Davis will make much more than Plumlee.

I have no idea what this means.

But Sly says you're so short you wouldn't be able to see my face.

I'm 5'1 so I carry around a tiny parascope. Trust me, I can see your ugly mug [emoji6]

Until something more major changes, I still see Plumlee starting and Davis finishing. That would seem to make sense too. Plumlee did a nice job in the first quarter of moving the ball and messing up the defense. But, when it's crunch time, you want Davis rebounding and defending.

Yeah Meyers better watch out, cause Ed may take his place in the starting lineup...then again he seems to play well off the bench.

Like Sinobas said, it's not Meyers minutes he would take. He would just play more WITH Meyers. Stotts has been adamant (rightly so I believe) to play Plums or Davis with Meyers or Vonleh making sure an interior player is teamed with one who can stretch the floor.

Davis is more of a rebounder and defensive stalwart but Plumlee is a brilliant passer for a big man racking up 6 assists last night which I think the starting lineup needs.

Having that passing to go with our slashers is crucial.

Which makes one wonder if Plumlee and Hendo will work well together ...
I can't wait until we get Henderson back. I know some people have already written him off, but I think he's going to really round out our rotation nicely.

Davis showed a tremendous amount of value for this team, right now, as constructed. No denying that. He is a fucking cog. A valuable cog. A timely cog.

He kinda reminds me of when the Blazers brought in Buck Williams. Seems to have made the whole team better - tougher - harder working.

Glad to have him.

Gramps...

They were not happy about losing him. But they were still trying for LMA at the time

Don't have to get the A list stars to succeed in free agency. Look at some of the guys Atlanta has got the last few years. Hell might be better to sign the B list players the minute free agency starts and let other teams play musical chairs over LMA, Amare, Carmelo; aging prima domas who need to be wined, dined and lead teams to first round exits.

Plumlee is good to pair with Meyers; at first glance defenses can't tell which tall white guy is the dead eye shooter and which can't hit a shot 4 feet from the rim.

Leads to Meyers open threes, or guarding Plumlee 20 feet from the hoop; both good for us!

Could easily see Davis having more trade value than LMA in the next year. One is 26 years old paid $20 million the other 30 years old paid $80 million.

Always liked Davis. Hopefully he is consistently good this year and not the fade-in fade-out player he's been previously. Coaching support will be major for him.

Relentless pursuit of the ball is a good thing. I almost forgot what it looked like, but we saw it from everyone last night.

That's not happening. He'll take Plums' spot before Myers. Meyers or Vonleh needs to be on the floor for spacing purposes. Our little guards need those lanes.

I've been saying he should start since we got him.

I would not be opposed to him starting next to Leonard, but I see value in having Plumlee start to help get the offense rolling and keep the ball moving. Then bring Davis off the bench and have him finish the game.

If I were Stotts though at some point it would be fun to try one of these lineups:

Dame-CJ-Harkless-Aminu-Davis
Dame-Harkless-Aminu-Davis-Leonard

Needs his own thread. He bothered AD. Was a one man show on the boards. I like plumlee but davis is more of a difference maker IMO.
@Denny Crane was right last summer when he said that Ed Davis would be a great addition to this team. I like him more than Plumlee and Vonleh right now. Although, I still think Vonleh will become really good, that's going to take a couple more years. Ed is ready now and it's showing big time!

Hahaha! I don't even know what to say but laugh at this!

He was good all year for the Lakers. The team was terrible all year though.

Yes, I believe thats our best 5 man lineup.

We might want to have Harkless on the bench to spell Aminu, and its not terribly important if MeyersPlum start since all those bigs get 20+ minutes. But yes I think that's the most effective group. The key is Harkless consistently hitting the three. If so that group has enough spacing. That group has the three best defenders on the team and the two best scorers! Its sort of a small ball group but with Mo-Aminu as forwards can easily defend any bigs in the league.

In the era of stretch fours, it wouldn't hurt to have Aminu guarding guys like Anthony Davis or LaMarcus or Blake Griffin.

I have always loved Davis, so when I saw we got him, I knew he was gonna do good things.

But, I always reserve absolutes for a couple months, so lets hope he keeps it up. I -think- he can, but there's still doubts for the sake of doubts.

Stren, your hilarious man!

That's the funniest stuff Ive read in a long time... in part because there is some truth to it! HAHAHA
