when Mozgov gets 16 mil per ya think Mahinmi goes for 10 mil?
I hope. He made 4 million last year. A 6 million dollar raise or 150% should make him pretty happy. The cap didn't go up 150%

I didnt realize Mozgov only made 5 million last year. I thought he made like 10.

So maybe mahinmi won't sign for 10

Just curious. Turner has been in the league a few years. He's great with the ball in his hands but useless otherwise. Decent perimeter defender but not great. Decent mid range jumper but not a longe range shooter. We just paid him a huge amount of money that foregoes another signing..... Why did we do this signing?

Bc nobody wants to play in this city even tho we have a:

(Suppose) Young superstar
Up coming star
Coach of the year runner up
Gm of the year runner up
Playoff noise

So why did we do this signing? We had no choice

Well next year, when Tyreke Evans is making like 30 million (or more) I think everyone will calm down.

Fills a need? How about the need of having a good outside shooter at the 3 to keep teams honest and unable to load up on Damian and CJ?
How about CJ and Lilliard keeping teams honest and unable to load up on Evan?

if you're still too upset to watch the whole thing. Just skip to 45 seconds in, and watch him put Teague on skates.

Also 1:39 is dope as fuck.

Oh neat, he's got a youtube highlight reel...

Like when CJ & Lillard kept teams honest and unable to load up on Crabbe, Henderson, Aminu and Harkless? What's your point?

I've pretty much lost complete confidence that we can ever build a contender in Portland. When you have to overpay middling free agents just to get them to consider us you pretty much guarantee yourself to be stuck in NBA purgatory.

It's not that Turner is even a bad player. He makes is marginally better if he replaces Henderson and we bring everyone else back. But then we are going into the luxury tax to field a fucking team that has Evan Turner taking up 20% of the salary cap. So I can't see that happening, clearly at least one of our RFAs is not coming back and if that's the case we pretty much stay the same as last year except our payroll is now 2x higher with huge extensions to CJ and Plumlee coming up. Seriously, fuck this shit. Evan Turner literally has to turn into Paul George out of nowhere for this to be a success.

On the good side, he can't do that to us again this year.

Last year's team improved as the season went on. They are young and will improve this year. I expect 52-57 wins.

In what year of his contract will Turner take up 20% of the cap.

This year: 16/94= 17%
Next year: 17/110=15%

and you assume it will only get lower.

Fuck me for rounding right?

Also the cap is going down after next year.

I don't think it's as bad as you make it. He really is very good with the ball in his hands and I think he can make Dame and CJ better.

My biggest problem with this is the opportunity cost this year because it was our only chance to get an impact FA, and we didn't address our most pressing need which was rim protection.

But all that said, I'd rather have Turner at 4/70 than Baze at 4/80 or even Parsons at 4/94

It's one playoff game that shows some of his offensive skills against a good defensive team...

He started the series on the bench, and Boston got their asses handed to them. Brad Stevens started turner the next four games, Boston won the next two, and ATL didn't have an answer for him until game 6

LOL

Anyone trying to spin this as anything but negative for the health of the franchise is delusional. Yeah Turner is cute and may help us win one or two more games, but so what? We're still gonna get bounced in the second round at best.

Think about the principal. They got spurned by every big free agent they talked to. They had to pay Evan Turner 18 million a year to come. Evan. Turner.

This just perpetuates the fact that no one wants to fucking play here. There's no chance of ever getting a top tier guy.

Not really spinning anything. If that's the best we can get, that's the best we can get. Best to accept that reality and hope we can turn the FA into a trade asset or a valuable contributor.

It's better than doing nothing and being shell shocked like Dallas is now, no? BTW, who was Dallas' best FA signing? I don't recall them getting anybody of importance. Wesley?

F Parsons, I think we may have dodged a 24 mil $ bullet with those knees of his

2nd round if the team in the 1st round loses their top 2 players again maybe.

Yay for 7th or 8th seed!

Yeah. Pay the lux tax and fuck any sort of future flexibility for Evan Turner, Mo Harkless, Allen Crabbe and Meyers Leonard.

Go fuck yourself Olshey.

Here's a fun comparison .

Turner last year:
28 mpg, 10.5 pts, 4.9 rebs, 4.4 asts, 46% FG, 24% 3pt, 83% FT, 1 stl, 2.1 TOV

Iggy his year in DEN before going to GS:
35 mpg, 13.0 pts, 5.4 rebs, 5.4 asts, 45% FG, 32% 3pt, 57% FT, 1.7 stl, 2.6 TOV

You normalize those minutes, and the stats look pretty damn identical

Olshey will be fired in the next 2 years. And we will still have the giant turd evan turned stinking up the place 2 more years after he is gone

Iggy is an all world defender. Not even close.
