How about we fire the fans who are acting like it's the end of the world and going into a complete meltdown -- kidding but geez everyone needs to take a deep breath and calm the F down

You would have thought Conin did this trade only sub out Norm and Cov and insert Dame but he did not he got rid of an expiring contact and another contract that did not fit with THIS team anymore.

Dude..... Norm is on a great contract and he's a solid player. This was a flat out horrible trade. I'm sorry. He was an asset. We gave him up for nothing. Literally nothing. Straight up trash. We traded GTJ for him and we got trash.

nobody in the press is saying portland won this deal.

This is why you don't allow interim GM's to make significant trades.

But with Jody's awful leadership, it's the blind leading the blind. We sat down at the pro table for Texas Hold'em and got taken to the cleaners.

I haven't heard this much "Joe Must Go" since Joe Avezzando coached the Beavs :)

Anyone who thinks people are freaking out in this thread, go on over to the Blazers subreddit lol

Sirius NBA is just laughing at the deal LA got. "Portland is giving players away!"

Well now Jody is under the tax. She doesnt give a fuck about having a contender.

This is what he said yesterday:

It’s delicate. I think we all take a big-picture approach knowing that one season is a small vacuum of a larger picture. It’s hard. We’re all so competitive that we want to win consistently. Sometimes to do that, you have to take a step back at times. Sometimes you just have to be patient. So, you’re trying to balance deal by deal what accomplishes the overall big-picture goals.

The idea is nice in theory, but when this is the best you can do in a trade, you don't fucking do it and change your plan, moron.

Didn’t we just have a debate about this idiot talking about getting under the cap? I told you this was a concerning development.

In negotiation theory, every transaction is judged off of BATNA--best alternative to a negotiated agreement. In this case, it is to do nothing. Nothing would have been better than this deal.

Some people here are apparently confused about what tearing it down means.

It does not mean giving away players for nothing.

It means giving up current value (players in their prime or, in RoCo’s case, slightly past their prime but still valuable) for future value. Future value can be either picks or young prospects that have a chance to be really good.

In Joe’s trade, he got neither. Therefore, this trade is a failure.

Hope that helps.

Silver lining..... at least it wasn't to the OTHER team in LA? :dunno:

"I formally submit my candidacy for General Manager of the Portland Trail Blazers.

For reference, not one person who knows me believes I could f&ck up a trade as badly as what we just witnessed.

Therefore, I would be better."

Sincerely, almost any Blazer Fan with a pulse.

I'm gonna be patient till the deadline to see if Joe turns this into a more favorable result for our Blazers.

Waiting for the secret teams that were hunting Bledsoe and Winslow.

This won't be the last deal we hate in the near future. Getting out of this Olshey mess properly is going to be a bumpy road.

Good reminder for everyone thinking Norm/Cov were great role players for a championship contending roster. Apparently the rest of the league didn't think so.
