Im gonna disagree, I think its a lot less hateful then it was over the summer. I think most of us think the moves before the trade deadline were good, were excited to watch Nurk become the #2, and well so far the seasons gone pretty good and honestly theyve played better this year then last year up to this point.

At the end of the day all of us (okay most of us) just want the Blazers to be successful, and when they are it lightens our mood quite a bit. Now if they get ousted in the 1st round without a good excuse like an Injury to one of their best players, this threads gonna be a pretty epic meltdown.

I dont dislike NO enough to want the Blazers to lose just so they’ll get rid of him, or I can point my finger and say I was right.
My point really was more about the thread being 2 years old and discussing the same things. Pretty much the positions of the posters have not changed a bit.
It was a very long read when i decided to catch up. The same points have been brought up as many as 30 and 40 times over and over again. But that is just the way the thread goes. There is a place for this discussion and this is the place. have at it.

Glad to see ya, HCP! Someone else should post to this thread.

If the Blazers can somehow lose this next game i will most certainly bring out the MELTDOWN thread!

62 pages and this thread really hasn't gone anywhere. It's kind of like a two year long hate thread with some Around the NBA type things thrown in there.

The thread hasn't changed because Olshey hasn't changed. But maybe he has...

The thread is going easy on Olshey right now for the same reason I am. He finally, finally did something to acquire major free agents, so I'm happy to finally have an activist GM, and waiting to see 1) whether they fail, succeed, or dump us like Arron Afflalo, and 2) whether Olshey returns to form and snoozes for the next 3 years.

What exactly did Olshey give up for all three of our “recent additions” that are contributing nicely?

Layman - cash for a 2nd
Hood - Sauce, Baldwin, was it two 2nds?
Kanter - nothing
My corrections to this would be:

Hood - Layman's minutes & development
Kanter - Collins' minutes & development

When viewed in that light, the cost of these additions outweighs their contributions.

It would be three losses and the last being to a 15 win team. Perfect Meltdown material right there no matter what LeBron says.
I like the young talent on the Suns. I see them being a handful in a couple years.
Im curious to see how Nuk does against their rookie 5. Ayton?

So, if the Blazers get curb-stomped by OKC, will anybody change their minds about Olshey?

I think Olshey gets another summer from me no matter what the outcome is. Hopefully if it is a curbstomping that will be the final straw needed to make a major move.

I know we need to see post season success but I think he does deserve some credit for the Blazers being the 3rd best team in the West 2 years in a row.

I don't like NO, but his deadline moves were really good. I'm also of the opinion that the Nurk injury gives Stotts / NO a pretty major pass for anything in the playoffs though if they're swept I think they gotta do SOMETHING sort of big to shake things up.

Olshey brought in some great cheap pieces. Too bad we won't be able to retain them because of other bad contracts

Neil has strengths and weakness's like all gm's. I think many don't like him because of his persona which is ok.
When you stand back at a glance and realize he's the architect of our current team and players, he has delivered a competitive fun, dangerous team thats still relatively young with star power. No Championship this year but thats cool, maybe Neil can take us to the next step as contenders in the next year or so?

I hope so, but doubt it. That's why I hate bad contracts. You never know how they'll come back to bite you in the ass.

I think Meyers, Harkless, and CJ are all movable pieces.

That's a lot of salary.
