Last time we did something like that, we ended up with Luke Babbitt, Elliot Williams and Armon Johnson as the Fuck You parting gift. No thanks. If you're moving on, dump his ass now, not with him knowing he's about to get canned, and fucks us.
Well, that person who did that also knew it was their last act. I am not telling Olshey he is going anywhere. And if Paul is then he does need to move on now. Basically, if I was Owner (and I am not obviously) then I not evaluating Olshey both good or bad until the time is appropriate. Some think that time is now. I don't. It is summer, imo.

I was just about to say this.

Aside from (generously giving him the credit) of picking Dame over HFB and Drummond (but then picking Meyers), and seeing the potential in CJ (but not in Freak), what gives you (not you, RR7, but the collective you) the idea that as a lame-duck he's going to find lightning in a bottle? And if you were a GM who happened to pitch yourself that you were a stud draft guru, why the actual Foyle would you trade all of your firsts? That's like prime Tiger Woods saying "I'm not using my driver, b/c my iron game is legit" or MJ saying "they can't stop me, but I'll stand in the corner and shoot 3's when Ron Harper decides to chuck me a pass every so often." Why?

Olshey comes off as that smug rich kid in high school that you would sell twenty dollar grams to.

His inactivity at the deadline ultimately killed us. He’s drafted well though. His FA signings have been generally awful. The contracts he gave out have been detrimental. His trades have generally been alright.

I have no idea who’s gonna take the fall, but someone HAS to.

I think its time we brought this back out. Olshey is garbage and needs to go especially before we fire Stotts and bring in some like Vogel then watch Olshey shit the bed again this Summer since Paul doesn't want to be in the tax and Olshey handcuffed us wasting 30 million a year on Turner and Leonard.

When asked about making changes, Neil:

"Where were these people 10 days ago?"

Mothafucka, right here!

Oh how wrong I was at the beginning of this thread. I was ignorant of the effects of the luxury tax back then, and it would've been much easier to match salary in a trade if we had better contracts. Smh.

I wish people knew of the deals the owner and ownership group vetoes or forces to happen. Would be glorious.

You knew kids who sold that kind of dope?

*MIC CHECK*

Ok, we're good. This thread is primed and ready for your draft day needs.

Around July 8 is when this thread will be hopping, when we see his signings. His fans will be gloating over Connaughton's new clone.

Let's predict their excuses...

"This isn't everything. He still has all summer to make moves."

"Name who you would replace him with."

"You actually did? Okay, then name the guy's new salary and belt size. Gotcha now."

"Portland is not a desirable market for free agents. The other 20 NBA small markets are just lucky. All those previous Blazer GMs were just lucky, too."

"Portland is not a desirable market for free agents. This explains why he's lousy at trading."

He should of been gone 2 years ago. What’s his claim to fame here? Trading for Nurk? That’s not even a success yet in my book. Wasn’t he going after that scrub from philly first then settled for Nurk cause they threw in a pick? SO MANY HORRIBLE FA CONTRACT DECISIONS, it’s time to go.

I think it was posturing that got Denver to actually throw in the pick.

I have stated my case that I don’t like NO, but at the same time shouldn’t we actually see what he does before we condemn what he does? He has in fact done some good things as the Blazers GM, he’s here for now and as a Blazer fan we should hope he does good things.

Haha i bet we'll See this Thread many more days

No matter what Olshey does or doesn't do, people are going to be calling for his head.

"Trading for a vet? Why?! We're not close enough to competing with the Warriors to be going all in! Olshey needs to be fired!"
"Really, he's using the pick? Drafting another project player? Because our team isn't young and mediocre enough as it is? Olshey needs to be fired!"
"Geez, we're going HOW FAR into the luxury tax? What, just so we can move up for another rookie from a shallow draft? Olshey needs to be fired!"
"Well, good thing we traded Crabbe for that trade exception that he completely wasted on nothing. Olshey needs to be fired!"
"Did he seriously just trade our best shooter and second-best player? Guess we're banking on luck again! Olshey needs to be fired!"
"Wasting assets just to undo mistakes he made 2 years ago? Just to try to save PA some luxury tax money? Olshey needs to be fired!"

I would normally agre with you to wait and see what Neil does before reacting, but this guy has been selling his snake oil for 6 years now... every draft/trade deadline/free agency period fans thinking this is the moment and then he does nothing... Neil is a coward afraid to take a gamble because making the playoffs, even if team is mediocre and not competitive, is good enough to sell tickets to most fans and keep his job

Fair enough, we can spin things in a lot of ways to push the anti NO agenda. I’ll say it now, I will be disappointed if the only thing we do this summer is use the MLE, and draft pick. Would kind of feel like they aren’t trying. My guess is we will see at least some trades tonight and I would like to see them involved.

Well, I’m not going to “judge” how I feel about his moves based on the garbage he spews afterwards. I don’t trust the things he says. I don’t want to be blinded by so much by my feelings about him that I just spin whatever he does negatively just because I can...
