Oh? This is a bunch of people bashing the coaching of a team they dont watch, to try to discredit the criticism of Stotts' coaching that comes from those who do watch? Interesting tactic. This is about how Brad Stevens is Terry Stotts but with multiple All-Stars in the East over seven years instead of just one like Stotts has.
Stevens will likely be fired after this year. Stotts May too, but with a better record in a more difficult conference.

Yeah man, we got the best player selected in the lottery and blew it. Lmao.1 Anthony Bennett
2 Victor Oladipo
3 Otto Porter
4 Cody Zeller
5 Alex Len
6 Nerlens Noel
7 Ben McLemore
8 Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
9 Trey Burke
10 CJ McCollum
11 Michael Carter-Williams
12 Steven Adams
13 Kelly Olynyk
14 Shabazz Muhammad
15 Giannis Antetokounmpo
Dame really blew that draft
Next upgrade should be a new coach. To take the team to a new level

The Celtics have lost a lot of close games. Without Dame being the clutchest player in the league, and with them playing average in the clutch, we'd be worse while playing against an easier schedule.
So the difference comes down to a very small amount of possessions and Dame being insane. This is why basing coaching off of a simple win-loss record is ridiculous.
This is where I lose people. The Celtics aren’t that bad/ as bad as their record shows because they’ve lost a lot of close games, can’t blame Brad Stevens for that. The Blazers win close games because of Lillard, can’t credit Stotts for that. It all feels like cherry picking. Stevens has more all star level players and yet can’t win more this year. By the way I think Stevens is a great coach. (UNC should hire him). I only brought this up because fans have their heads down and don’t follow other teams, like we have the worst coach in the universe when so called great coaches are getting roasted every day, like Boston.Oh? Yeah, he’s kind of a dumb shit that way, but then so were the other 13 guys who didn’t pick Giannis. Anthony Bennett, now there’s a pick that isn’t good for a GM’s career.

Damn did you guys delete my post personally insulting myself? That’s dedication to the rules.
Oh no you don’t!(Steps into thread)

(yanks you back into the thread)
What do I attribute Dame being clutch to? Not Stotts...What do you attribute our clutch time defense being Top 10 to? Dame as well?
I totally agree on your last statement by the way.
Haha what makes you think I'd be unhappy with an upgrade over Stotts? That's some random conjecture if I've ever seen it.Is this tread still going on? I guess it will until Stotts leaves. Then the same poster will immediately start a new thread demanding the new coach be fired.

Seems unhealthy to me that you are spending your energy thinking about another poster's personal life, instead of about basketball...Seems unhealthy to me and the guy spends his entire day here letting a basketball team impact him and likely his personal life.
My question was what do you attribute our clutch time DEFENSE being top 10?
Seems odd to me its significantly better and I have a hard time giving that credit to Dame.
you were the one that said a small market team needed to strike gold on two draft picks, one of them a big. That draft was Portland's franchise opportunity. Dame/Giannis would make for a true contender. I'm not sure there would be a better elite partner for Dame than Giannis. Maybe Lebron
I don't really care that other GM's blew the same chance Olshey had. It still means he blew it. The Milwaukee GM didn't. Portland had an opportunity in the 2012 & 2013 drafts to have Dame, Giannis, and Gobert. Whether or not they could have afforded all three by this point in times is a valid question. But that's certainly a trio that could have brought some rings to Portland
Portland could also have Donovan Mitchell or Bam Adebayo. Bam would really be nice in the Blazer front court
Actually. The players give a lot of credit to the knowledge that they have Dame on the court so they are always in a game.
So, there's that. I don't remember which exact players said it.. but it has been said.
Okay, I certainly agree that Dame/Giannis would be pretty sweet. I have a hard time saying that Olshey blew that draft
the "blowing the draft" was in the context of the discussion we were having about how the Blazers could have found a 2nd elite player to pair with Dame. As we were saying, the chances, in the draft, to add two elite players are far and few between. Like one every 25 years. That 2013 draft was Portland's opportunity. Successive drafts with the chance of adding Dame and Giannis (and Gobert). It doesn't matter to me how many other GM's screwed up on Giannis. That was Portland's big opportunity to have a contender, and they missed.
all the defenses of Olshey I've read plenty of times before. I don't hate him as Portland's GM for one decision. But for a couple dozen decisions. Those outweigh the tsunami of excuses he's always surfing on
I'd rather have a healthy Nurk than either Gobert or Adebayo, but that's just me.

I want Stotts canned, but I don't have any intense emotions about it - he's a great guy, and a welcome member of the community.
It's not emotion, it's simple logic. Defense wins championships, and we have what's probably the 2nd worst defense of all time. What we don't have is a collection of the 2nd worst defenders of all time. So, that's on the coach.
Bad Analogy:
A company has a CEO who everyone loves, including the owner. However, the company loses $$ every quarter. After years of losing $$$, the CEO must be let go, regardless of anyone's feelings.
Absolutely. There is no reason for our defense to be as bad as it is. The main issue is effort. The second issue is Stotts sure loves to play all his bad defenders at the same time.
