Fire Stotts

One thing about Thibs he hold players accountable. That might be good for Dame and his career. You might not see so many force shots. Don't get me wrong I think he is very good but can be better. But that everyone in the NBA they could be better.

Where does Mike D'Antoni rank on your coach radar if Stotts gets canned??

Slightly better than Stotts because of his creative offensive sets, but his work in LA left a lot to be desired.
No point in hiring him imo.

This talk about getting a defensive coach and firing Stotts is funny shit. We brought in McMillan because he was supposed to be a hard nosed defensive coach. He sorta kinda was that but we saw years of pretty boring and stodgy offense. So we fire him and bring in a guy who coaches a more exciting brand of offense. But the defense isn't particularly good. So now we start screaming for a defensive coach. At the end of the day, on either side of the ball, it all comes down to talent. And we ain't there yet. And a coaching change won't change that. We knew we were in for some rough patches but we've won more games than I would have thought so far and were close in a lot more. So I figure Stotts must be dong something right.......

Thibs tho...

He'd be a winner. We might have an in, as the closest team to where he grew up, Victoria.
Yeah, but we're also the team that broke his leg and basically ended his career, so...

Well, then he could coach Lillard and ruin his career in revenge. So we have 2 advantages. Olshey should get on this right away and start selling the idea to Nash. Homecoming and revenge.

I'll say it again. People underestimate Thibs as an offensive coach. He's a genius on both ends. He designed plays around his players' strengths. When the Bulls had Korver, they had sets that ran him off of multiple screens to get open looks. Derek Rose won the MVP for his OFFENSE in Thibs' first season, before Rose blew out his knees.

When the Bulls traded Deng, it looked like a tank effort. Thibs designed a new offense around Noah as point center and Noah ended up 1st team all NBA and DPOY. The team won more games than it was supposed to.

The man started Carlos Boozer and ended games with him, until Boozer's last season with the team. He valued Boozer's offense more than he valued having Taj Gibson start for his defense. That's not what a defense only coach would do.

When asked if he'd prefer to build around or draft an offensive player or defensive one, he's said "offense."

I'm of the school that thinks Stotts has done a great job with what he's had to work with. The team is going to win more games than it should on paper. Ask @HCP about that. CJ has developed into a rising star. Crabbe, a 2nd round pick, is near starter quality now. He's starting a 20 year old guy with little prior NBA experience (development) and still getting us into position to win games. Once we learn how to get and maintain a lead, the wins will come, even with this roster as-is.

The only reason I would replace Stotts is if a great opportunity arises. The opportunity to hire Thibs is tempting.

What has Thibodeaux done that Steve Nash hasn't?

Coached an NBA franchise.

Thibs was the fastest to win 100 games in the NBA.

His .647 career winning % puts him among the all time best coaches.

Steve Kerr got that record after GS beat LA on Tuesday I believe.

He's won 100 games out of 117. Good lord.

He ain't no Bill Fitch.

The 2nd-greatest NBA coach ever after Dick Motta, Bill Fitch won 1100 games. After Donald Sterling fired him, he's still available! His winning percentage would be higher if he hadn't been saddled with the 2 worst teams of the generation, the Clippers and the Nets. At the Nets, he made players out of Chris Dudley, Sam Bowie, Mookie Blaylock, and Drazen Petrovic. Not mentioning Bird, McHale, Parrish. But my favorite days were when he was a character in Cleveland in the 70s...OK I won't get started.

How come you're not telling us who was the fastest to win 200, 300, 400, etc.? I mean, to be consistent in your methodology.

I always thought Nash would be great, same feeling I used to have about Jeff Hornacek & Kerr, they were just smart players - i thought Greg Anthony might head that way too.

Let's just assume it was either Pat Riley or Phil Jackson, for every milestone between 200 & 1000.

I say why compromise....hire Thibs as the defensive coach and Stotts as the head coach....bingo..contender..best of both worlds..Thibs is the best defensive coordinator in the the league and has history with Plumlee and Lillard..if you had to pick between them, I'd lean toward Stotts but I'm a loyal guy

Very homerish post. Thibs is gonna have his pick of the litter. He's gonna get PAID next season.

If he takes an assistant position his agent is gonna commit suicide.

His shoot first ask questions later offense is starting to kill me. Who are the top candidates to replace him with?

Chuck Norris

If you're going to be a defensive coordinator, be the best in the world, enjoy not having the media attention of a head coach..stranger things have happened and he should be well paid in that capacity but come on dviss....homerish post? Dude that's what I do! I like Stotts...Rivers and Thibs won a ring in Boston. He's been well paid and Paul Allen has deep pockets...it is what is is.
