Oregon's legislature and Governor passed an anti 2nd amendment law some time back. Some counties passed laws countering this law a couple years back. I ask a couple of the City police Chiefs which law they would enforce? They both gave excellent answers, although the same answer;
We will support the first priority, the Constitution of the United States.

Now when I read the S2 board here, the left swingers, which is most of the board, want some sort of law banning guns or rights to guns passed.
Not sure which body of government they want to pass a law but they want it.

I see no one offered or suggested an amendment to the Constitution. Just pass a law! Well who will enforce a law that is counter to the Constitution? If we have any Police Chief that will do it, they should be fired for cause, since all take the oath which in part pledges them to uphold and defend the Constitution.

Maybe already posted. If so, I apologize in advance.

yet Trump told us all that we need to report odd behavior more. So that's the solution right? Oh wait.

By all means, we should do what they told us to do in 1791. Because nothing has changed in the world since then. I have an idea - if you want to live by rules created in 1791 (2nd Amendment), you live your entire life according to the standards in 1791. Have fun walking to work or getting the flu and enjoy your last post here on the worldwide web, because you know its 1791 and that's what matters.

It seems to me a failure on a few levels. The school failed him - maybe we need to look at how they're failing students in general.

The FBI didn't act (enough) on what was reported. I wouldn't be surprised if there were other red flags that weren't acted upon as well.

Yes, multiple failures here and it isn't just about the gun(s). The only way to fix this problem is to address it multiple ways - mental health at a young age, FBI and Police reaction, schools, holding parents accountable, and how we make guns available. All of it

It is very simple. If we want to change the constitution to stop this we can. It shouldn't be hard to get the people to vote for it after all the shootings we have now.
Unfortunately in 1791 they didn't know what was coming. However, the rules are still the rules.

I've always hated how laws are passed and just stay on the books forever unless we repeal them. That's what creates crazy situations like "in Wyoming it is illegal to spit at another guy's horse while you ride side saddle" or some other such shit.

Some of our prisons are peaceful too.
Well I'll have to take your word for it....I've lived in Taiwan...not prison...you have no clue about Taiwanese freedoms...please...don't visit there like ...ever.

Isn't this thread about the tragic loss of life rather than politics?

Seriously, our nation is fucked if everything is politicized and nothing is done to correct the issues at the core.
Tell that to all the gun grabbers that seem to love every tragedy as an opportunity to say turn in your guns! Told ya so!

guess you don't understand the difference between different types of guns but that's where you go with the tragedy....let's bash a few liberals over questioning access to weapons after a tragedy...that'll help! some of you soldiers of fortune should live in Somalia where 9 year olds will protect you with AK47s....

I'd just recommend that anyone who owns a bunch of these guns sell them soon. Get the money while you still can.

and yeah...guns nowadays a bit different than the 1700's. I am perfectly OK if everyone wants to carry around a musket and jam gun powder down the barrel or whatever the F they did back then. Not fire off a hundred rounds in a minute.

The guy pulled the fire alarm and set off smoke grenades.

Think about that for a bit. The guy really planned this out, and to a degree that isn't an indication of mental disability.

Think about this, too. If he really wanted to commit this kind of act, and there were no guns, he'd have found another way. Likely more deadly (like a bomb, or arson, or driving a car/truck into a crowd).

Luckily most people don't wanna do crazy shit like this. When I played BF3 (war game) we'd plan crazy shit to kill people in weird ways that the game makers had not thought of. It was fun as shit.

A guy with a good imagination could kill more people without a gun. Or even a bomb.

The guns are just too easy to get and the psychos think they're cool.

I just think we can all agree we're tired of talking about shooting that isn't field goal percent.

Yes, Timothy McVeigh comes to mind.

Well just remember, you only get one vote. Amendments to the Constitution require 3/4 or the States to ratify.
Ignoring the Constitution may bring you war.

Interesting Hobbes. What sort of process would you replace the political process with? How else would you change the Constitution?

I do have one suggestion that would not require a change to the Constitution, but it still would require the political process.
Eliminate the gun free zones and put some armed persons in the school to ensure gun toting evil doers can not come do evil.

Thanks for the reminder. And unfortunately we are getting closer and closer to “war” regardless

I gather you have never taken an oath to up hold and defend the Constitution.?

Who do yo include in the we with you?

Ignoring the Constitution may bring you war.
We've always had war....that's not a new circumstance......now we have gutted the EPA and social services for more weapons and a huge military budget...like that's going to stop us from wars....welcome to the new cold war sponsored by your 3 time draft dodging beauty pageant mogul.....sheesh

I gather you've never read the inscription on the statue of liberty as well....do we include those freedoms or just close the door now that your forefathers have already immigrated and become Americans? I took an oath to serve my country......unlike the president. You have no problem giving him a free pass for dodging military service so he could party in New York City discos while we were at war.......you disrespect the wrong americans ....would love to see you have this conversation with Mueller or McCain.....two guys who did serve their country.

School shooting suspect belonged to white nationalist group

By The Associated Press

PARKLAND, Fla. -- An orphaned 19-year-old who participated in paramilitary drills with a white nationalist group was charged with murder Thursday in the deaths of 17 people who were fatally shot at a huge Florida high school in the nation's deadliest school attack in five years.

Nikolas Cruz legally purchased the AR-15 rifle used in the assault at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, law enforcement officials told The Associated Press.

As the criminal case against the suspect took shape, the leader of a white nationalist militia called the Republic of Florida said Cruz was a member of his group and participated in exercises in Tallahassee.

...

The group wants Florida to become its own white ethno-state. Jereb said his organization holds "spontaneous random demonstrations" and tries not to participate in the modern world.

He's not crazy, he's a terrorist.

Nikolas Cruz Trained With White Supremacists, Group Claims

Nikolas Cruz, the man accused of killing 17 people in a Florida high school, was a member of a “white separatist paramilitary proto-fascist organization,” the group told The Daily Beast.

Cruz, 19, is accused of opening fire inside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Prior to the shooting, he trained with the Republic of Florida, the group’s captain Jordan Jereb said. The RoF seeks to create a “white ethnostate” in Florida, according to its website, a view that Cruz supposedly shared.

“I don’t know precisely what he believes,” Jereb said. “I know he knew full well he was joining a white separatist paramilitary proto-fascist organization.”

The Anti-Defamation League first reported the link to RoF.

Cruz “seemed like just a normal, disenfranchised, young white man,” Jereb said.

While no motive has been described by police, Jereb speculated that Cruz may have allegedly committed the massacre out of hatred for Jews or women.

“There’s a very real sense of feminism being a cancer. That could’ve played into what he did, but we have female members of RoF,” Jereb said, adding that “we’re not a big fan of Jews. I think there were a lot of Jews at the school that might have been messing with him.”

Jereb said Cruz belonged to a RoF “cell” from Clearwater and drove up with members to Tallahassee to do paramilitary training. RoF was recently operating in Tallahassee and attempting to court new members, according to a local news report from last year. The group posts videos of training montages on the internet with members in fatigues brandishing weapons.

“I’m not trying to glorify it, but he was pretty efficient in what he did,” Jereb said. “He probably used that training to do what he did yesterday. Nobody I know told him to do that, he just freaked out.”

Cruz received at least one of his guns through the white supremacist group, according to Jereb.

“I think somebody bought him a Mosin–Nagant, but that’s bolt action. He had a semi-automatic in the school,” Jereb said.

Cruz exhibited right-wing politics in high school as well, former classmates told The Daily Beast. A former and a current student both said Cruz wore a “Make America Great Again” hat.

No i have not. So? We = everyone in America. Believe it or not I am a real American just like you.

Your oath to serve your country. Do you recall the part about defending the Constitution?
Sure I have read the inscription on the statue. I find it way out dated and it as no relevance in law or in anyway comparable to the Constitution.
