This is why you have a ban hammer Sly.....in my view you either need to use it or lose more quality forum members ...having meetings and spending days dealing with it for free is completely unnecessary use of what is supposed to be an entertaining fan site .....coddling this ongoing problem is not solving it.....my 2 cents....I used to feel bad if I couldn't make a meet and greet...that's sure changed. With HCP and kj bailing....the writing is on the wall. To me it's become glaringly obvious what's gone down here and it keeps getting a pass. Good luck with this mess bro....I hope it works out for your sake. I'll be here much less from here on out.

I think he's saying that if someone is causing this much drama, intentionally or not, that is what he has an issue with.

not my feelings.....Sly will do what he wants.....my baby brother died this weekend...that hurt my feelings.....I just like HCP and kjironman as friends......you I don't pay much attention to at all....
 
Definitely some drama queens up in here.

Option 1: Put the person you don't like on ignore and never have to see their posts again.

Option 2: Make some big statement about how you're leaving the forum because you don't like so and so and you can't go on having to deal with them in your lives.

I will say this, it's crappy that someone went after HCP's job, but he made a racial joke and that joke was forwarded by someone. It was his choice to make his identity public on here. If you don't have the anonymity of the internet protecting you anymore, you're exposed to people going after you in the real world. That's just the reality of that choice. If you don't want people to know who you are in real life, don't tell them and/or don't post stuff that might get you fired. There's a reason why I post almost nothing on facebook and literally nothing on linkedin. I don't need one of my hot takes coming back to bite me in the ass. That's why I do all my shit talking on here.

The whole forum is drama. It always has been. People that have been posting forever who don't like each other constantly fighting. It has been that way since we came over in 2008. Our group is too small to drown it out. There's similar arguing on places like Reddit, but their community is much larger so it's not quite so personal.

It just is what it is, and if people think other places are different, well....... I guess they can think that if they want.
 
I don't understand....HCP has been asked to stop doing some things and has. OB has been asked to drop the shit and continues with the drama. Whether he sent the letter or not, we may never know. But there sure is a lot of coincidental evidence for it it seems.

I can't fault any of the mods they do a great job and do it for free. The OP is evidence enough that they put a lot of thought into the actions they may take.

Sooner or later, playing nice isn't enough. While OB may not have sent the letter himself, at BEST his actions and words inspired someone else to and that type of real-life consequence may permanently impact how people interact on the forum. That itself IMO warrants some mod-designated time away from the forum...but hey that just me. Does HCP's schtick get old sometimes? Sure, lol. But coming from a guy that sometimes doesn't know when to quit pushing people's buttons IRL I get it. The fact that OB JUST RECENTLY put HCP on ignore shows me he was never truly serious about changing his own ways or leaving the situation alone.

Let's be honest here though, if he hadn't posted something racially insensitive, he wouldn't have gotten in trouble. If someone posted something similar on facebook and got fired because of it, would you feel sorry for that person? And that's a website that's supposed to be only people you accepted as a friend. This is an open forum where he has represented himself as an employee of the team. It's just not very smart.
 
I'll admit that sometimes I haven't played well with others, but I reflect and try to modify my approach. I will get irritated sometimes, but almost always it's overreaction and most of those times, it's in game threads when emotions are rioting

I just looked and I don't have anybody on ignore. I've actually discovered it's possible to ignore somebody's posts manually by seeing the poster and moving on before reading. That way, I reserve the option to get outraged and/or irritated if that's my time-wasting inclination at that moment in time

I'm sorry that people are self-banning because of this situation. I understand why, but it's a damn shame, and will make the forum a lesser place

and I'd personally like to say to HCP: please don't leave; your wife and I appreciate the time you spend here

I may have missed what exactly he said that was racially insensitive? Mind filling me in?

I do agree it was not very smart that HCP had let it be known he worked for the Blazers...I don't trust people I don't know personally much as it is. He definitely put himself in that risky position in the first place...but bringing that cancel culture bullshit to this forum? Whoever did that is a pretty shitty human.

He made a joke in the OT forum about slanty eyes to Tyrant of Ants I think. It wasn't meant in malice. If it was in his backyard between friends nobody would have cared. I know people make jokes about HCP being latin all the time. But... the problem is..... this is not a private venue and someone used it against him. I have no idea if they were actually offended or if they just used it as ammunition, but that's what I heard was the cause of the letter.

the initial letter wasn't due to the comment he made to tyrant of snakes (or whatever the name is). It was someone accusing him of "bullying" people.

Agreed about the 2nd joke issue though.

Agreed. That being said, pretty much anyone who has ever been a regular poster on S2 has poked fun at HCP that could be considered racially-insensitive, as well as poking fun at Mrs. HCP. He's taken that in stride. We've all created that environment. It's no guarantee, but I suspect it's highly likely that someone who has taken some jabs at HCP is the same person that has reported him to his bosses.

It doesn't make HCP's comments okay, but it was two posters bantering back-and-forth playfully and someone interjected themselves into it.
 
"tyrant of ants" makes no sense to me....I mean is it leaf-cutter, or red, or carpenter? Or is it arrogant enough to claim dominion over all species and sub-species. Just use RAID and be done with it

I have personally stayed away from the racial jokes with him..... and really the wife jokes....

With that said, again, he has intentionally made it known who he is and what he does for a living. There's risk with that. I didn't really start posting on here until after I quit writing.
