Don't worry. He will not improve much, but olshey will give him a 70 million dollar contract when his rookie deal expires.

Haven’t you ever heard of seed faith? TBN? Meyers Leonard? Evan Turner?

Tonight, Ant was terrible. Pounding the air out of the ball & only looking for his own shot. Hes not in anyway a PG.

The downside of drafting the Best Pick Available with really young players is sometimes that pick sticks around for years and you try to mold him into something he's not to fit a team need and you wind up wasting everybody's time. By the time you give up on the idea he's lost any perceived value and you just have to cut bait. (Or he's Meyers Leonard in which case you sign him to a massive contract and waste even more years trying to do the same thing.)

Hopefully Simons is tearing it up for Minnesota's D-league team in 2023.

Call me irrational, but I see it. I'm going down fighting on Ant hill. The way he moves around the court, and that smooth jumper, I think all he needs is experience. Stats and all be damned.

We need to get him on the court for 20 mpg consistently even if he's struggling. Unfortunately, our team isn't built for that kinda developmental stuff at the moment.

They’re trying to turn him into a scoring PG when in reality he’s a SG/spot-up shooter.

This is part of the problem-- he's not a PG that sets up others and runs a structured offense. He will be best in that Lou Williams role and I think can flourish if given the green light. Even as a lead guard in the P&R, I think he's capable. The timing/instincts are all there. Just needs to put all his skills together.

What game did you watch?

Right. He played satisfactorily in that game.

The reason he has to become a PG is his size, not team need. He's a smidge taller than McCollum, but slender. Actually, it's team need (the Stotts system) which makes his development appear slow. On most teams, he could play like a patient specialist instead of being judged by hero-ball standards.

Ridiculous. He will never again play even one game in the G-League. He is way too talented.

His stats are ugly.

He very well could be the worst player in the league - Blevins doesn’t count as his role is primarily a practice player.

He didn’t look this bad his rookie season so it’s like the team fucked him up by trying to put him at the point.

IDK a couple games ago I watched Anfernee draw the defense and dish to open shooters the entire time he was in the game. Five straight times the open shooter missed the shot. Instead of the three or four assists he should have had in that stretch alone, he had zero. With his small sample size, that could have been a nice boost to his ratings. :dunno:

Dame should be averaging 15 assists a game, but teammates keep missing shots a lot of the times he gets them the ball. Those damn teammates!

Simons played in 70 games last season and he averaged 21 minutes. He got consistent playing time in a consistent role. He had an assist rate of 9.2% and assist/turnover ratio of 1.59. Those are bad marks for a backup PG; but maybe he's due a partial mulligan because of circumstance

this is his 3rd season, so excuses have just about worn out

Mix on this team is not really good. Not many real consistent shooter on this team. You got Dame and CJ. Trent Melo Covington are streaky. Jones if use right could be effective scorer but that here and there. Nurk also can be streaky just making a close to the bucket and Kanter he kind of a garbage type player. But on defense there not a guy that's a good on ball defender. Jones again probably can but Stotts has him play a lot on point guards he not quick enough to stay in front of quick point guard so he being use improper on defense. But to me while scheme is not good for this team. But they have play the drop back scheme so much when try to change it they pretty much clueless how really play it properly. Defense about being active make offense do things there not confort on doing and taking angles away on drives and even passing lanes. Things we really don't do very good job at. The thing also is contesting shots with jumping with our hand up to many times I see player go it on close out with there hand or half effort attempt to put there hand up. Our bigs in the middle has to challenge with hand up or going up with both hands up to make it default. Kanter never does it but this Nurk not much better. Yes I think there missing Zach majority of the time he going up with his hands up and plus he really take angles away. Does he his faults oh yes he does.

Feel bad for Simons - he is being asked to play Point Guard in the NBA, and he is not an NBA Point Guard. Its a hard job. He is a two guard, plain and simple. He's a small one, but thats his only place on a basketball court. Last night felt like watching your kid getting killed by bigger and better kids on a court and just praying the coach takes him out. I was not for one second 'mad' or frustrated with Simons, he's being put in a position to fail. Let that kid (KID) run around with Damian and shoot some threes and run the break next to DJJ, and he'd be fine.

So you only want opinions that match yours?

I only ignore 1 person here, and it's @SlyPokerDog. I don't have him on ignore, I just don't listen to anything he says
Glad to see someone else finally come around to my way of thinking about Sly.

There's a song in The Rocky Horror Picture Show that describes Sly to a 'T':

I swear people hate Ant cuz of Neil's comments more than anything he does on the court.

I dunno what it will take to get Simons going. Maybe a consistent forcefeeding of 15-20 mpg will help him. We need him to develop, need our coaching staff dedicating more focus towards him.

Everything I've read about his work ethic is great. Needs to put it together
