Bottom 5 in the league in offensive player impact plus minus

Bottom 5 in the league in defensive player impact plus minus

Worst multi-year PIPM (-4.6)

Last in the league in wins added (-2.2)

Last in the league in PIPM (-5.1)

Anfernee Simons has a worse PIPM this year than Kevin Knox (-4.90) last year.

Only 21 times in the 10-year PIPM database has someone recorded a worse single-season mark than Simons in 2019-20.

He’s played 1200 min this year. Turns out a handful of garbage time games isn’t a good sample size. Neil put way too much stock in him. He was set on Anfernee being a rotation player with or without the injuries.

So Simons sucks about as bad as this season sucks? Seems right.

Don't tell Danny Marang that (one of the guys from the postgame shown on CSNNW) - he'll get very defensive even if you have stats to back it up.

We should do a poll: do Olshey's comments about Simons prove he is a lousy judge of players' value - or does it prove he has no conscience about BSing the fans? To be less diplomatic, is he a fool or a liar? :dunno::stirthepot:

Well he is a liar, as he contradicted himself several times in his last interview.

Although a case could be made that he shouldn't have said anything about Simons or hyping him up at the end of the day he simply said that he has the most talent out of any player he's drafted, not that he's the best, nor that he will be great this year. So Olshey could still very well be right about him.

You guys need to quit blaming Olshey for taking his words and over hyping them even more. I read comments from posters claiming all star status and now we can trade McCollum cause we have Simons and future hall of famer. Olshey never said that as that was from this forum. Posters need to take accountability for there own actions and quit blaming someone else.

Fair enough. Fans do tend to over-hype their team's young players. I remember how over-the-top some fans were about Rudy Fernandez's rookie season. In this case, I do feel Olshey poured fuel on the fire.

Try this approach. Wait and see for yourself as Olshey's job is also to sell this team to the fans. All I ever see is many of you guys calling Olshey a used car salesman and then listen to him and then complain about what he says if it doesn't materilalize. I prefer to use my own judgement rather than the word of a person who's job is to sell (hype) the team to the fans. If you take everything anyone from the Blazers (or any team for that matter) literally you will likely be disappointed.

Not that context matters to you and your three monikers but he's one of only three High Schoolers drafted since 2006: Satnam Singh, Thon Maker, Simons

A search for only Americans finds

Brandon Jennings
Terrance Ferguson
Isaiah Hartenstein
Jeremy Tyler
Latavious Williams
Darius Bazley
Anfernee Simons

I didn't check for non-Americans who played in American high schools, like Satnam Singh and Thon Maker. And of course, there were 150 non-American, non-college draftees whose high schools were in their own countries.

So 3 is wrong.

I think the implication was players who came directly from high school to being drafted in the NBA. Jennings, Ferguson, Hartenstein, Tyler, and Williams all played professionally overseas, so that would exclude them. Bazley didn't actually attend a high school he year before he was drafted; he simply didn't play anywhere at all and only trained for the draft.

Brandon Jennings, Terrance Ferguson, and Jeremy Tyler went overseas. Latavious Williams went through the G-League. And do you seriously think that Isaiah Hartenstein is American?

And I was born in Germany. I'm not German.
Were you born on German soil, or on an American military base? Were either of your parents German? Do you have German citizenship? How long did you live in Germany?

Exactly how analogous is your situation to Hartenstein's?

No doubt about it. Simons is a liability this season. He MIGHT materialize later in his career but at the moment, he hurts the team more often than not. Just facts. He might be better off playing the 2 with either Dame or CJ playing the point.

Yeah, he's has been awful. I had high hopes for him but it's getting difficult. Interestingly Nurk's PIPM in 2019 was highest on the team, just above Dame. Chief's 2019 PIPM was 29th in the NBA and his multi-year is 44th in the NBA. Most underrated Blazer ever.

Dame, CJ, Nurk, Collins, Trent, Whiteside. Then it's a cliff. We need 3 more decent players to be good.

Me too, always thought Seth was underrated. Simons has the green light to shot whenever he has the ball because he's an Olshey guy, meanwhile Seth was shooting something like 44% from 3 but had to beg to get some shots
Seth was an Olshey guy. He signed him!

You’re underrating Melo if you think he’s not decent.

An inefficient guy who doesnt pass much and plays little defense? Meh.

So you don't think he is out performing his 2 mil a year salary? Hard to find a vet with his experience and production for 2 mil a year.

I'd say he has proven to be a bargain signing.
