For all you saying it's stupid, or shouldn't be a crime, does that mean I can go 75 in a 55 and shouldn't get a ticket? The speed limit is stupid. Still the law though
Pot smokers for a long time actually went to jail for it....speeding tickets...just pay by mail in most cases.

Now I didn't get it, but if MM meant, why does a state legislate one way when the federal government can overrule and legislate the opposite... well that's worth another topic of discussion all together.

I believe the point he was trying to make, and to me it seems like a valid point - is that there is a valid way to change the law and until it is done - it is not up to one's interpretation of what law is right or what law is wrong as far as behavior is concerned.

Of course, I might be completely misreading MM (not the first time that happened) - and in this case, I suspect he will correct me as needed.

Fuck the law. We're Outlaws!!!

Wait, you're telling me people don't routinely got 8-10 miles over the posted speed limit at all times without getting pulled over?

But, speed limits are different in different states. ;) So in that sense, it IS different interpretations of the same speed limit law, especially pertaining to the freeways.

Okay.. Then I guess I don't get the point.
Does MM ever spit in public? Or Jaywalk?

There are tons of laws everyday that the average person breaks.

Its against the law for a bingo game to last more than 5 hours.

In NC its illegal to sing off key.

You may not sell toothpaste and a toothbrush to the same customer on a Sunday (Rhode Island)

I found these here...

http://justsomething.co/the-22-most-ridiculous-us-laws-still-in-effect-today-2/

I don't know if its actually true, but I have seen and heard enough to know there are some seriously stupid laws out there. Yes they are still a law, but does that mean I'm in the wrong to disobey?

Yes there is a correct and incorrect way to change laws, but that takes time, sometimes years. My life is too short to not do what I want when it doesn't harm anyone else, just because a government says not to and doesn't provide a change based on the popular vote. (Yes, I believe that if EVERYONE voted without fear it would be a majority that would say to legalize Marijuana, for whatever reason.)

There are still some places where the speed limit is "A reasonable and safe speed" and a number isn't even defined.

Clearly the issue was individual interpretation of the laws in the locale they are in effect...

I got that. But the locales to which they live (these individuals) is vastly different, thereby different interpretations of their own speed limit.

I do not know, but I would assume he does. If he is caught and punished - and complains about it as unfair - it would be hypocrisy.

There are tons of laws everyday that the average person breaks.

No one argues that. The argument is that as long as these laws are laws - "paying" if caught breaking them is something to be expected - and there is a way to remove these outdated / absurd laws from existence.

I can't think of any I have known who went to jail. I have fired a couple for not getting their work done. Designers just don't do well on that shit. I was never successful getting one to go through rehab either. Of course that never works for anyone unless they want to make a change. That only seem to happen to alcoholics. Too bad, they can get their design work done when sober, they only fail to get the work done when missing work from being hungover. The pot head designer comes to work and doesn't get shit done and never wants to change. Has anyone ever figured out how to deal with this as the boss?

Well We may not know each other personally, but we know of each other, so now you can consider yourself as someone who knows someone who went to jail for possession of less than 1 gram of marijuana. Nothing else. No alcohol or anything. I was pulled over as a profile, cause I drove a beat up tempo in ritzy Bellevue. The pot was in a a film capsule under my seat that I didn't know about from a party the weekend before. The officer said I had an obstructed license plate and that's why he pulled me over. BS. I had just moved from CO and had new plates put on. I hadn't transferred my license though, so the officer said I couldn't drive the car and said my friend could ( his license was suspended) He lets us go and pulled us over less than a mile later, arrested my friend, searched the car and then arrested me too. We were totally set up.

Gosh! That's terrible.

I recall hearing that trout used to blaze it up big time in his playing days in Portland.

So why is he back in Mississippi now that it's legal here? He needs to move back to the NW ASAP.

...I guess he should have kept his residence in Oregon after all :dunno: such a stupid waste of time and tax payer dollars fighting the imaginary "war on drugs"!

As a former Tempo owner, I can attest that you should have gone to jail for driving one. As I should have also......it was a crime against humanity.

Well, all I know is it wasn't the tempo of the tempo that got be temporarily locked up...but it was tempting to blame the tempo.
