I wanted him the past few seasons, would’ve been a good locker room vet, gives you 15 solid minutes, can shoot.Vince Carter to Atlanta. That just seems weird.
Rather have him than Stauskas

And why's that?Here's the thing:
Caleb is gonna have to play center. Even when both he and Zach are sharing the floor.
Who's better suited to do that, Noah or Caleb?
Presumably because he's too slow to effectively guard the majority of the league's PFs. He'll have to be a Chuck Hayes-type.And why's that?

So he's going to protect the rim?
That's just as bad!
Considering the archetype I referenced blocked a total of 237 shots over his 644 game career, it's probably safe to assume that I wasn't suggesting Swanigan would/should be a rim protector. So he's going to protect the rim?

He can't defend Cs or protect the rim either, so I don't see your point. You gotta ask that? He can't defend PFs.
Nurk and Collins will play majority of minutes at center. Aminu and Hark and Collins will share minutes at the 4. Meyers will be behind them. Caleb is riding the bench.
Sounds like the same old shit to me.Nurk is going to play with Chief.....Collins and Meyers/Swanigan will sub in for them...Meyers and Swanigan will get time according to matchups ...Meyers will take on bigger PFs and Swanigan more small ball lineups
Going into a season with any of those strategies is fucking stupid for a GM because we're one injury away from Leonard or Swanigan being our only options.I can see why you would say that, but both Olshey and Stotts talked about Collins and the 4 and playing with Nurkic. And I truly hope the aren't considering playing Harkless at the 4. Here are the possibilities I see from that:
1) they are counting on a big rotation of Nurkic, Collins and Aminu, forcing Collins development, and everything else is damage control (I'm okay with this)
2) they start Nurkic/Aminu and bring in Collins/Leonard. I think this is less likely, but there is a chance that Olshey could be forcing Stotts hand to play Leonard this season as a last chance to get value from him.
3) like #1, they see a three man big rotation, but intend to play Swanigan in limited minutes, just in cases of foul trouble or if someone needs a breather. I think the idea would be to forego rim protection in favor of spacing, passing and Swanigan's ability to take up space--even though his summer league stats weren't always great, if you watched the game, he was a big part of the defense.

As outlined in another thread I would've taken Arthur or Faried and a 2nd round pick to be the backup. Honestly though, any vet big would work.I don't disagree with you there. But, given the need to develop Nurkic and Collins, and most of the minutes going to those two plus Aminu if healthy, who would you sign that would fill that hole, who: is okay with not getting any minutes should those three stay healthy, is available as a FA, would take a vet min salary, and would be clearly better than Leonard and Swanigan? Monroe is the only one I see and I don't think he would be happy sitting on the bench.
It is what it is...Sounds like the same old shit to me.
That makes sense for Davis. It doesn't make sense for our roster though.I don't know if this was posted anywhere, but this reports that Portland did make Ed an offer, which is still consistent with what Olshey said. I would guess they would have paid him, but where honest with him about getting Collins more minutes and his minutes going down--thereby encouraging him to take a deal with a team where he could play more.

Folks won't like it but they're going to play Meyers this season...he keeps getting overlooked in these discussions but he's paid and he'll play with Ed gone...last year we had 3 bigs that never played....this year we won't.That makes sense for Davis. It doesn't make sense for our roster though.

Ed Davis Also Received Interest From Blazers, Warriors, 76ers, Thunder.
LoL and he chooses the Nets.
"Receiving interest" does not mean an offer was ever made.Ed Davis Also Received Interest From Blazers, Warriors, 76ers, Thunder.

Ed in the east will probably start which he wanted last season.....he could make the allstar team in the east...go deeper in the playoffs...for him I think it was a basketball decision and a chance to showcase and get a bigger contract the following year..makes total sense to me.
At the beginning of last season...he was interviewed at training camp by Casey and said...sure....I want to start....you've never heard the interview? It was when he first showed off his conditioning and improvement....every player wants to start....Ed wouldn't complain if he didn't but he wanted a bigger role..Ed was happy here....nothing to do with it....same interview they asked him about Nurk's weight loss and he said, I don't pay attention to other dudes much..just my own game.....sure..he looks ok...Ed is a very real and honest dude...on the other hand I never heard Ed mention his paycheck here ever....he did say he was happy here thoughWhen did he ever say he wanted to start? Or that he wanted a bigger contract, for that matter?
Ed was always quick to say that he was very happy with his role and paycheck here. I've never heard or seen otherwise.
