LHP - C.C. Sabathia (3-4, 2.58)

VS.

RHP - Mike Pelfrey (1-5, 4.76 ERA)

Lineups to follow............

The Tigers, normally I'd say tough assignment, this year they have been streaky, but only 3 games back in their division so they want to win. That being said I think the Yankees have a shot at this series depending on whose aging veteran group excels. Given the starters lines I'd give the Yankees the pitching upside if the Big Man stays consistent with his last few appearances.

Yankees Manager Joe Girardi said that Rob Refsnyder will serve as the Primary First Baseman for the time being as per Erik Boland.

TONIGHT'S STARTING LINEUP.......

CF - Ellsbury
LF - Gardner
RF - Beltran
DH - Rodriquez
C - McCann
2B - Castro
SS - Gregorius
3B - Headley
1B - Refsnyder

GO YANKKEES!!!

what did Gadnah (Cap'n Smurf) do to get out of his slump...? He called Kevin Long-doh-:hcp:

damned, either swing at the ball or don't, fkng check swings. I love Castro's fire, and heart for the game (in his own backyard), but he's gotta' up that avg. Time to put the free swinging bat away, and use the field, hit for avg. Or better yet- know when to do either, like O'Neill, Jeter, Donnie BB, & many others....

DD lucked out, Upton and any other LF'r should of made that catch, routinely, stole 2 runs, damn near 3...

Beltran keeps on hammering away, keep it up Thor-

Good.
Time to find something out about this kid....and he's earned it.
Paid his dues- up and down minors/majors, bounced around different positions at both places and still gave a good account of himself with the bat.

Whoops, shitass broken bat bloop single has Tigers on 1st and 2nd, one out.
First horseshoe goes to Detroit.

Yankees came to bat, chickie arrived home with groceries so I helped her unload. By the time I got back I realized I missed a rare sight, Gregorius with a 2 out RBI double.

Was there a cold Beer in those brown bags, worth the miss, lol, and I thought stepping away for a minute, missing action was my forte, calling in life, lmao....cheers Michael... break, gotta' step out-...

Quit drinking decades ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Sometimes I get that urge to have a couple of Jim Beam & Gingers accompanied by Marlboro Shorts but the ciggys went by nine + years ago.

Gotta say, Big Man with a lot of oitches and runners this evening but has held the line. On the verge of earning that double cheeseburger all the way !

amen, make it a triple decker....

CC's done a helluva job thru 7...! Who would of thought as much, this time last yr. Joe must be on the $$$ when he spoke of his knee & brace issue.....???

shit, I thought McCann had that HR, foul...

...^^^not sure how he's getting it done, but I don't really care either. It's not like he's dominating hitters but he's still getting them out.

Like Girardi going with Swarzak to start the 9th.
Put the "book" down for a moment Joe- allow him at least one baserunner and let's see if we can buy some more time for the big three down the road.

Keep it going against Verlander tomorrow. He has been doing too much partying with Upton.

Sabathia made the pitches he needed to make to get out of jams and prevent the big innings. Just what the Yankees needed him to do to become successful. His adjustments have worked. The '16 Tiger Team is not as potent as a couple years ago, but they still have people who can go yard with men on base. Sabathia did escape some jams tonight and got just enough from his offense to get a W.

It would be nice to see this offense knock JV off his horse....

onward after Detroit, to Colorado for 2, Twinkies for 4, back home for 2 more with the Rockies, and 3 with the Twinkies, that much should put this team well over .500 or will it??? I'm not holding my breath, no matter how good this team is looking, not until the Fat Bitch yodels...

...you find something in particular to be funny?...or do you simply have nothing of substance to offer?

Well, I did chuckle when you said: "not sure how he's getting it done, but I don't really care either" because it seems like half the time I'm saying the same thing to myself about opposing SPs-
-except the part about not caring.

CC has his slider working with good velocity and downward movement and has been doing a good job at keeping the rest of his pitches away from the fat part of the plate.

Going into last year I was thinking he might be able to make the transition into being more of a "finesse" pitcher. Obviously a tall order- needs much better command of all his pitches and getting his fastball up to 90/91.
I hope the Yanks get all they can from the old war horse before he goes down.
A year older, already been injured this year and has a bum knee.

Sabathia's ERA since May 1st is 0.71. Who would've predicted this?

Season:
10 GS, 59.1 IP, 48 H, 49 K, 2.28 ERA, 1.21 WHIP

Since last August:
19 GS
109.2 IP
93 H
89 K
49 BB
1.30 WHIP
2.55 ERA

Let's see how long he can hang on.

...uhhh, yeah, I'm well aware of Sabathia's stats and how he has performed recently...so is everyone else.

...But many of his stats and peripherals are still considerably off from what they were when he was "dominating" batters earlier in his career...again, like Mess, no one saw this coming.
