he Portland Trail Blazers' dogged pursuit of David Lee could result in Marcus Camby returning to New York.

Knicks president Donnie Walsh denied that he is working on a three-way deal with the Blazers and Clippers, but several team sources confirmed that Walsh and the Knicks' coaching staff have discussed the possibility of adding Camby, who was traded from Denver to the Clippers last July.

Portland has been trying for months to acquire Lee, who will become a restricted free agent this summer. Mike D'Antoni would prefer to have the athletic 7-foot Camby as his center as opposed to the 6-9 Lee, who has improved offensively but has struggled on the defensive end.

There was a report of the Knicks being involved in a deal that would send Quentin Richardson to the Clippers and Lee to Portland, with the Knicks getting back Camby and former Knicks first-round pick Channing Frye. Walsh, however, denied having discussed that trade with the Clippers and Blazers

Love the trade idea but I can't imagine all the salaries match up as stated.

Clips trade Camby for QRich? Seems a bit far fetched.

if we can trade outlaw too, and give more minutes to S-Bo and Ike I'd be down. Specially with Web's coming back probably in the next week or so.

Although Knicks president Donnie Walsh denied the rumor last night, despite multiple sources saying it was being discussed. For the Knicks end, they are rumored to be sending out Lee and possibly Quentin Richardson, and would return Camby and possibly Channing Frye. The Blazers would pick up David Lee, with the Clippers likely getting Richardson and or the ending contract of injured Raef LaFrentz. Insurance begins paying LaFrentz's final 41 games in just a couple of weeks making him an ending deal, which has no salary payments attached, making him a free player for the Clippers. Such a move would then put the Clippers under the salary cap this July where they could look to retool using LaFrentz space and some of their roster duplication. There is also a belief that Donnie Walsh may covet Clipper's point guard Baron Davis and may be willing to move the ending contract of Stephon Marbury should the Clippers show interest in a deal. The only way that works is if Clippers GM and head coach Mike Dunleavy concedes that the long rumored conflict between him and Baron Davis is unrepairable, and chooses to dump him on the Knicks. Acquiring the ending deal of Raef LaFrentz and the ending deal of Stephon Marbury would put the Clippers roughly $20 million under next year's expected salary cap. And for the salary cap fiends out there – The Knicks getting Marcus Camby, Channing Frye, Ricky Davis and Baron Davis, The Clippers getting Stephon Marbury and Raef LaFrentz, The Blazers getting Jason Hart, David Lee and Brian Skinner – works under the cap. Virtually all of the contracts involved in the above scenario end this summer, except for Camby who has one additional year, and Baron Davis who has four more years on his deal. It is highly unlikely such a complex deal goes down, but it does seem clear that the Knicks are exploring their options on David Lee and Portland is interested.

Wow do we really want to use Raef to just get Lee? Can't we do better then that?

I like just losing Frye to get Lee, but Raef too?

Sure we can do better than that. We should be able to get Lebron or Kobe. Teams are lining up to give the Blazers multiple championship parts for Raef Lafrentz.

Frye has all kinds of value around the league right now. I mean look what he is doing for us. No way we should trade him. Teams like the Knicks should consider themselves lucky to get Channing Frye for David Lee. I mean their stats are almost identical

That'd be funny to see 3 of the 4 players involved go back to former-teams, unfortunately for Frye that is...

I still don't really see the point of getting Lee as long as we still have Aldridge/Oden/Pryzbilla, especially with still having our 3 SFs as well.

Sarcasm alert! He almost fooled me since he didn't use the right font, but I finally got it when I checked Frye's stats against Lee's stats.

Wouldn't it suck if we made this trade and then the Clippers offered Lee a big deal next summer with all their new cap space?

It would be especially funny because they would be giving him that big deal, too big for us to match, to play him behind Zach. So good luck to them with that, if that was what they really wanted to do.

Oh, forgot about Zbo!

Well, since Lee is restricted, he'll either have to sign the 1 year to become an UFA in the summer of '10, or we can match any deal that comes his way right? Well, he'd be a great backup PF and energy/banger that we need. Sign me up.

There would be another trade, b/c we would still have a SF and PG logjam.

Yeah I would rather have Caron Butler over David Lee anyday.....

And I'd rather have LeBron than David Lee.

You do the best deal that is available to your team. I highly doubt Butler is going anywhere. They are more likely to deal Jamison if they are breaking up their core.

Well without Webster playing, i'm leaning more towards calling it a shitjam. Because it is a jam of players not playing well.

If Portland can get this done, it's highway robbery. David Lee is a 15-10 guy, and while struggling on defense, can make up for it grabbing boards and scoring. He's a lot better than people give him credit for and Walsh would be stupid to trade him. He's struggling yes, but he's playing very well. Like I said, KPritch should sit back and watch LA trade away Marcus and just have the double-double man roll on in to Portland.

Portland sending out the worst player and getting the second-best player in the deal is extremely far-fetched. Adding Raef LaFrentz doesn't seem to matter because all the deals involved, except Camby, expire this summer. So Portland isn't giving anyone cap space.

David Lee is a beast people..BE HAPPY if we can get him for Channing and Raef! He brings everything we need in a backup PF.

I wonder what else Portland would be giving up. Maybe they take on a bad contract?

I also wonder what the Clippers are thinking for taking Q-Rich. I know there's a glut at center, but I'm sure they can get more for Camby.

Perhaps the waiving of Jones and Davis is a sign of something imminent?

If there's any truth to this, that would be my guess. Walsh wants to dump someone like Curry or Jeffries and is willing to use Lee to get it done. LaFrentz and Frye both expire this off-season.

Even if Lee only stays for this season, would we be able to use him in a sign and trade?
