How far will the L*kers advance in their 2018-19 campaign?

  • Total voters
    63
  • Poll closed .
I usually like the TNT crew but last night that was pretty much crap.
  • Basically ignored the PA stuff, even joked about it and didn't want to watch it, so instead talked about LA free agency.
  • Didn't talk about how just awful LA's defense was (it was bad).
  • Said the Blazers next game is SUNDAY (It's saturday).
  • Of course it's the LA/Lebron show I think we all knew that would be the case, but that was especially disrespectful to the winning team, and to their owner who just died.

Nothing like the sweet smell of victory but it's always a bit sweeter when it's the lakers. 16 and counting. Now that's domination.

Only watched the 2nd half, but I liked what I was seeing. We have a deep, talented team and I'm optimistic. We're still maybe not contenders but we're gonna be real strong.
GO Blazers

Hating the Lakers has nothing to do with predicting where they will finish. I hate them as much as anybody.
I thought hating the Lakers was a prerequisite for membership in S2. Nicht wahr?

We have more talent than I thought and I'm a pretty optimistic person.

Collins looked so good on defense. Think there was a bit of hometown scorekeeping as I didn't see 6 blocks, but there were only a few occasions when he made a mistake or got blown by. Offense is a ways away but that was legitimitely good defense. Nurk needs to get it together-- he becomes unplayable against fast paced teams like LA. He'll be damn good vs a plodding SA next game.
The good thing we only play the Lakers 3 times and there about the only team that plays that fast. If you look at it they play that fast only the 1st half due the Blazers got them more half court offense in the 2nd half. That will be Achilles heal for the Lakers this year if teams can get them in half court sets.

That's right. You don't want to get in an up and down game with the Lakers.

Obvious caveat: single game +/- scores can be very deceptive.

That said, in some ways Collins really did out-play Nurk last night. Call me crazy, but I can see Collins becoming a better/more versatile defender than Nurk.

As bad as Nurk looked, he definitely didn't pass the eye test out there this game, he still gave us 16pts, 9 rebs, and 2 steals on 50% shooting. It was great that he could still contribute that much while looking out of place. I'm confident he will get it together.

Here's the thing:

The Blazers are allowed to play both Collins and Nurk together!

I'm not sure why it has to be one or the other.

I didn't say it had to be one or the other. I was just complimenting Collins, who a few posters have actually suggested should lose minutes to Leonard.

Dear Marc J. Spears,

Did you even watch the game? When the options are:

a) Force up a contested 2
b) Kick it out to a wide open teammate at the 3-point line

Option b) is always the correct answer in today's NBA and that's exactly how 7'1" Meyers Leonard had 4 assists, resulting in 12 points for his team, in less than 8 minutes of playing time.

Learn the game, then tweet.

Sincerely,
Eric @KingSpeed Milligan.

Do you think Westbrook is better than Ball?

You seem to have an unnatural fanboi obsession for flashy point guards who can't shoot.

Right now, Rajon Rondo is better than Lonzo Ball, Westbrick isn't even playing, and somewhere Kendall Marshall is feeling really left out.

If you did a poll, I bet it would be a dead heat.

As my dad always said... "The masses are asses".
Most people people don't know how the hell to analytically and to think for themselves. Especially in the echo chamber social media we have now days.
Just because the majority of people vote one way on a poll, doesn't mean they are right.

Other than those 2 dunks Lebron really didn't do shit

Outrebounded them 54 to 46, 14 to 8 on offensive boards.

16/9 in 17 minutes. If that's bad Nurk well i'm feeling good

The Lakers will be fine. Give them 15 games to get their shit together and then they will go on a run. We will be better though. I really like our team.

In the ever changing NBA you may be right. Against teams like Houston, GS and N.O.... I can definitely see Collins finishing games at center.

And like the PF spot where we need both a Collins and Aminu option, depending on the opposition, at center I think we also need the versatility of a Nurk/Collins duo. And yes at times they can play together because of it.

Just got this text from a buddy of mine. Had to share. Made my morning

Just a quick reminder that no matter how this season goes, the Blazers have won 18 straight season home openers, beaten the fuck face Lakers 16 times in a row and ruined LeBron’s debut with L.A. in front of a national audience, tv network, commentators , commissioner & referees that were doing their best to tongue his balls.
