it's interesting how vocal some people here are when Nurk misses shots, but they're predictably silent when he goes perfect from the field and has 15/17 in just 22 minutes.

I love what Nurk is capable of but he's a hard guy to have on the team because his effort waxes and wanes. If he can give this effort consistently he's an absolute monster and will rarely miss shots.

Agreed. We have now blown out 4 WC Playoff teams. Incredible. We’ll get goin on the road eventually. I like that it’s tough for opponents to play in Portland again. That’s always step one.
CJ has thoroughly outplayed Dame this season. Why don’t you ever say “Dame plays like absolute shit” when he does?
Kinda like you shouldn’t be able to cheer for CJ now?

On Jusuf Nurkic being patient when finishing at the basket…
“So, you’re seeing it right? Sometimes he gets a little impatient; he gets it and he’s trying to hurry up and get something to the basket. I thought he did a terrific job tonight of catching, gathering, using the strength, and then once he hits you with that shoulder, I mean he’s going to create some space and then you can just lay it. It was good to see him slow it down tonight as well.”
On improved play to start the game…
“Yeah, I mean we came out, we talked as a staff about how important it would be early. We were playing on the back-to-back. They were fresh; kind of sitting and waiting, and usually at those times they try to knock you out early. They come in with a lot of aggression, speed, and pace early in the games. So, we did a good job of getting back, we did a good job of not giving up offensive rebounds and dunks, and all of those deflating plays. We did such a terrific job of focusing on that early in the game.”
On translating home success to the road…
“Well, we’re trying to figure that out. We really got to try and find that same type of confidence on the road. I think we’re getting close; I really do. Obviously have some disappointing losses on that road trip that just passed, but you got to use them all as learning experiences.”
On how to improve ending quarters…
“I don’t know, I mean sometimes we just get a little careless at the end of quarters. I don’t know if maybe I need to call more sets at the end of quarters and let them just kind of play. That’s something that I’m learning, how to be better at closing out quarters and halves. I thought into the second quarter, although we didn’t score very much, we did a good job of getting stops. We didn’t open up the lead, if our defense wasn’t as good. We could have came out and again had a four-to-six point lead at the half. That’s a different ballgame, so I thought we did a fair job, but we can be better.”
On Dame’s long three-point shot attempt…
“I loved it. Love it. In fact, I told him to shoot it. In real time, I told him to shoot it. He had a couple go down, I knew the defense was going to be retreating and he dribbled it kind of by me. I said shoot it, and I don’t know it would be from, 40-somehting, but when he shot it I was right behind him and I saw and I was like, “That’s good.” Obviously, he missed it, but I was just happy to see him taking it.”

On how he felt coming in to tonight’s game…
“I mean, I felt good. I’ve hit my first shot a few times this season but that doesn’t always mean I’m going to have a good shooting game. Just coming out and being more assertive, being more aggressive, looking for opportunities. They [shots] just went it in, sometimes you have to stick with it and continue to weather the storm. It never ends in one game, just putting games together and continue to fight that fight and keep your mind right. Coming off last night I think it would have hurt a lot more if it was a loss but we won the game. I was able to move past it easier. Went home, got some rest, spent some time with my son today – I was pretty much in the house all day with my son and I was real relaxed because of that. [When] I came to the arena, I was just ready to play. I wasn’t even thinking about last night, I was just ready to play. I thought shot the ball better – not as good as I would have liked too with some of the opportunities I got but I shot the ball better. We got the win so I feel good about that.”
On winning five straight home games and how they can improve their record on the road...
“I think we start games better, our energy is better at home, we are sharper at home. I think across the board everything is better at home and it’s no surprise. A lot of teams are just better at home. You play at a faster pace, the energy, the crowd is on your side. You play with more confidence naturally because you expect things to go better on your home court. I think that’s why they call it the ‘Home court advantage’. We got out of our beds - like I just said – I was just at home with my kids and rolling around in my comfortable space and I think that definitely plays a part. I think right now we are a team that’s shown that in a major way – we are on our own floor, we are comfortable, and it’s just easier for us. You don’t have to generate your own energy all the time. It’s just having that crowd behind you. When you go out there on the road it’s just the group that you go out there with and everybody [else] is against you, when you call timeout everyone is cheering, it seems worse than it really is. We just haven’t responded to that well this season but on our own floor it’s the opposite. We just got to be better about that and try to take our show that we have at home on the road.”
On jumping out to a good start…

“I know how to do, man. Shit going to come around. We’ve been there before—work on the small stuff and try to be available for my team and trust my work. I put a lot of work in and it’s going to come around. And it’s coming.”
