No GM in the league would take Vonleh over Aminu.
I think it depends, 23 year old Aminu wasnt a ton better than Vonleh is today. If a GM was looking for future upside he’d probably go with Vonleh. If he was looking for a “win in the near future” piece he’d go with Aminu.

Great Game by CJ, Nurk, Dame and Meyers. Turner with the big rebound in the end. Collins... no words for him, he looks horrible

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Zach started regressing once Meyers got back into the rotation. Not saying it’s leonards fault, just that Zach has been floating on the perimeter too much, on both ends. What happened to posting him up? Pick and pop? The ball is going through Leonard instead of Zach. A bunch of jump shots. I don’t like it.

Wish it wasn't so close but good way to end the game Great get by Turner to get that put back at the end of the game.

I know Im the Zach hater or so Ive been called... I think they’re doing a bad job of getting him good looks on offense. He’s fouling too much, but its all teachable things and a lack of respect from the officials.
I really think they should find a good matchup for him in the paint and let him work on the post a few plays. I think he’ll be ok, just not playing really smart the last couple games.

I think that Meyers is now better than 50/50/100! Is he the only player in the NBA with that statistic?

Meyers is currently at 52/52/100. He is at 28/54 FG. Exactly half of his made field goals and field goal attempts are 3-pointers (14/27). He is also 15/15 from the line.

Very impressive percentages, unfortunately for Meyers, he does not currently qualify for the leader board in any of the shooting percentage categories. The requirements for qualifying, for the season, are 300 FG, 82 3FG and 125 FT. At Meyers current pace, he would finish the season with 135 FG, 67 3FG and 72 FT.

That's why i've allways said Zach is a Center in todays NBA. "BuT NO hE CaN aLSo PLAy pOwER fOWaRD." No he can't.

Zach can play PF, or C. Depending on the match up. His stupid fouls arent because he’s playing wings its because he’s not thinking... Also he’s much more likely to get a favorable post match up against another teams PF than another teams center.

Part of that is Zach can't seem to set a basic pick without fouling right now. Meyers sets good picks so he is more involved in Portland's PnR heavy offense. I wish they wouldn't rely so much on PnR because in the playoffs we saw how it can be taken away.

But with Leonard there’s never even any rolling. Most of the times he just stands there waiting for his brain to click. Collins could pop and roll, but we rarely ever utilize it. We’re going to get smoked in the playoffs again, and it’s frustrating because this offense could be so much more dynamic.

A win on the road is a win....but that type of effort won't work in the next two games. To give up 67 points to their 3-man back-court of Hardaway/Mudiay/Burke was not a thing of beauty. Having to play Dame/CJ a combined 74 minutes might cost them tomorrow.

I agree, I'm just not sure why Zach can't stay still on screens. He knows they are watching for it.

Haven’t really payed attention to his screening, but he does tend to make a lot of avoidable, silly, fouls. It’s not always his fault, but he’s got to understand that players know how to sell contact in the NBA. I’m sure with time he’ll find that balance with his aggressiveness though, just got to stick through the growing pains.

Collins could have used a learning year, sharing time with Ed Davis, who already knows how to play. Davis was fine with only a 1-year contract, since that's what he took.

One thing I've noticed is that since Zach is still kind of lanky/skinny if a defender runs into him it kind of looks like he's moving because he gets bumped off his spot. He also spreads his legs a little too much so that the defender can make contact with the knee sticking out and it looks like he's sticking out his leg. It's probably easy to clean up but he's got to take an extra second to make sure he's set.

I forgive you Zach for having a horrible game. Hope you enjoyed your 21st Bday last night. Let’s go beat the Bucks!

I read somewhere on this board that the players took him out for drinks. Someone posted that it might affect him in this next game.

Zach was probably hung over from the night before. If he back to him self tomorrow that was it.

If Harkless comes back someone is going to be benched. Either Meyers or Layman. I like the idea of this second unit

Curry
Stauskas
Turner
Layman
Collins

Layman and Meyers can rotate based on match up. This will allow Layman to expand his game imo. Hed get more looks with the second unit. Harkless back with the starters.

Wait a second, Kevin Knox played?? I literally didn’t even notice him. Remember the hype he was getting? What happened

Just got home. Allowing nearly 40 points in the 1st Q what the hell happened ?
Defensive game plan seemed to be to give up uncontested threes. It worked about how you'd expect, then Stotts seemingly refused to adjust the game plan.
