yeah I remember turning off those games because it was so unwatchable. Mission accomplished huh?
Shit, the league absolutely loved what we did down there. Won a sports Emmy actually. You watched the Bucks vs Hawks last summer? Was there anything you go t from that game that we did that you liked? Maybe you camped out in your mom's basement wasn't our target audience. Curious what YOU do for a living? Is it as highly scrutinized and what I do? Do people critique your every move? It's easy to fire shots huh kid? I love what I do and except all complaints and critiques. Doing something as transparent as we do is tough work. Just trying to give people on here an idea of what is going on behind the scenes ......then you come along.

I’ve been watching the clippers game for about an hour now and I haven’t seen them cut to a courtside angle, and if they have it wasn’t noticeable enough ie multiple possessions at a time. They must not have gotten the league memo to ram it down the viewers throat.

Another perfect example of whats up. Dallas is basically taking the Clips broadcast feed and just putting their announcers and graphics over the top.
The Mavs are up 50 and what we call an "end of quarter" rollout.....(the 15 seconds of highlights going to break telling the story of the last quarter) it should obviously be all Mavs, since they ARE up 50 right? But since they are taking the LA feed, it was 15 seconds of PG13 and Nic Batum dunking.
Wonder if the Dallas fan are at home starting threads about it. HA!

Dude, I get it. You're proud of your craft. I'm sure you do a great job. You have won awards.

At the end of the day I tune in to watch the blazers. I want to know if they win. I want to see the action. I don't really care what the analysts have to say. I don't need to feel like I'm there. I just want to see what happens.

If you want to show a million angles on replays, go nuts. That's fantastic. Show us every angle of a controversial play. But during the game I just want to see what happens. I don't need to see a weird courtside angle. I get it, this is coming from the league. Well, this is a Blazer forum. I'm going to comment on Blazer related shit.

We're talking about a change in your product. Your past achievements are not relevant to this discussion.

The NBA has implemented all kinds of stupid things that went away. The tshirt jerseys. The change to the ball. If enough people hate this angle, they will get rid of it.
I think everyone might have a new thing or more they find problematic but I would doubt it's the same thing for all of the people that have those problems.

The info you see on Twitter can be very misleading, as I'm sure you know, because it's not quantified in any way so a trend seems like it's data but it's just a collection of separate anecdotal incidents because the trending subject just has to mention the hashtag or word... it could be taking the opposite position or not even be on topic. So unless you have time (which none of us do) to read all of the NBA tweets, sort out the broadcast related tweets, then break those up into all of the different complements and complaints, twitter won't give you any kind of clear view. Wait even if you did that you wouldn't have a clear view because twitter is not an accurate sample of all opinions and is obviously always skewed negative.

The other thing I wanted to say is @THE HCP and all of the people that work with him are artists like you were as a writer so as you know the professional artist has to listen to an editor, producer or the equivalent, who has to listen to a supervising presence like a publisher or department head, that then has to listen to ownership... that can sometimes alter the work you want to make. Then we all have to take into consideration that what @THE HCP and his co-workers do is production art, like journalism (it probably is journalism) or advertisement. They have a client and the client will dictate what the consumer wants... the client (NBA owners in this case) might and probably do have some inaccuracy with their view of the consumer's view but I don't think that can matter to production artists. They seem to have to do their best work while also accommodating some more ambiguous guidelines and then some inflexible marching orders. So we get the best that they can do, which is pretty great even if we have small problems, with what they have.

@Natebishop3 and @THE HCP please let me know what I have wrong. I think both of you add a lot to this forum and appreciate both of your points of view. I've liked the overall viewing experience so far early this season and think it has been fucking amazing given all of the changes being made on the fly.

Talk about outside influences affecting your work......in the past we would get an email or text from Mr. Allen or his reps telling us he didn't like something on the broadcast and wanted to see it differently. For example, on a road trip, I was showing too many Kobe replays...... had to switch it up on the fly even though he was scoring 60 something on us. Cut back on the opposing team's replays. Broadcasting is an interesting craft.

Your doing good job HCP keep up the good work.
Ya, as many know on here, I don't take critiques personally, never have on here. Our show, like any show isn't perfect. I worked for HBO Boxing for 10 years.....literally the best in the biz at covering the Sweet Science.....yet we would get bashed on our productions all the time. Everybody has a right to their opinion a long as it's educated and informed.

Not sure if you are really watching closely, but they have. Clippers broadcasting guys know whats up. I'm very close friends with their producer and director. I can send them a link of this thread and you guys can chat with them as well. Let @THE HCP know.

Thank you.....but god damn it, it's @THE HCP !!!!! HA!

Hey, I don't mind the Ref's Ass Cam View (RACV). It's kind of fun. One thing I am curious about; it used to be that you showed replays of a lot of the questionable calls. Now, it seems like you just show a highlight of a play that happened a couple of possessions back. Is that a choice you guys made, or the heavy hand of the league? Not having a second look at those plays is more irritating to me than the RACV.

You can't do that against Harden, there would be too many replays to show

They showed his feet on that tripple step back that Harden drained late against RoCo a couple of times... which was probably the most egregious non-call of the game, they always show all of the reviewed calls and a bunch that don't get reviewed. I'm with you, I want to see every questionable call again but there are a lot of those.

They showed a shit ton of the little contact fouls Harden drew last night inside and made sure we saw that there was actually contact... then Lamar talked about how Harden is just great at creating that and he's right. The refs are just looking for it more with Harden so unless another player can be really good at that and get the same kind of insane usage as Harden, no one will ever get his free throw attempts. It's a skill that has to have repetition and reputation to really be the kind of weapon he has made it.

Crickets....

I bitch about this every other game even if I’m the only one in the room.

One observation I noticed last night was Harden was able to easily blow past DJJ as he wasn't quick enough laterally. Trent is a better on ball defender and can bother a player like Harden with his quick hands and D.
DJJ picked his pocket twice though. Blocked him once and forced him into Nurk a number of times which made him pass out. Unfortunately they were good passes and their guys made some shots as well.

What does your pool have to do with anything?
Mine doesn't. We're actually trying to get rid of it? Wanna help?
