There were way too many plays in the second half where there was an iso for Devin and he'd launch one up. It was going down in the first half..but once he got cold..you can't do that every play. Devin needed to look for open guys then

yeah, but harris shot 12-22 so he was hitting above 50%, can't blame harris here. His 4 fouls didn't help and Frank kept him out way too long. This was like when harris hurt his ankle, the nets play like crap.

This is one of those games that shows the Nets need a defensive specialist that can come in the game and try to slow down a player that is in a groove. Maybe if Najera was healthy he could have slowed down Harrington tonight. But the Nets also need a defender that can guard swing men and make it difficult for them.

You guys watch the Knicks at all? They score on everyone... I mean everyone. Even when Knicks lose they keep the game close. You have to be mentally tough and not let the Knicks run you out of the game. Nets were winning big 1Q and they got lazy and didn't want to compete. Frank is anal, he panic when Knicks started to warm up. Start tinkering with the line-ups and his own team couldn't score. Nets lose.

We do have a defender hassel, LF just didn't make the adjustment. The other thing is we got exposed with the lack of offence we need a reliable 3rd scorer. Vince has been solid so far but he just couldn't get it going tonight

tru

The thing that was the most disheartening about this loss is the fact that the Nets were dominating on offense and the Knicks couldn't sink any 3s.

Devin was on the bench for the 3rd quarter, and that was it.

Some may not agree, but i think Frank is partly at fault for this loss. Knicks deserve credit though, coming back and staying ahead.

I can't blame frank. the Knicks are just a better team. The Nets fell in to same trap that teams did when Mike coached PHX.

The knicks won and the Nets lost and the only thing they can do is learn and hope they can prepare for when the Raps come and hope it's not another loss

But the Knicks were isolating guys like Harrington or Chandler on a Nets defender (Yi in particular)and shredding the Nets with scores and free throws. That was the difference this game along with damn Tim Thomas coming in and hitting 3's. If the Nets had someone they could put on Harrington and make one on one scores more difficult it would have greatly limited the Knicks scoring output.

Also, the Nets weren't able to take advantage of their front line size advantage. They tried to feed Brook but he kept turning it over. And Yi hasn't shown an ability to go inside that much.

they played the nixs type of game and lost. ...
... all the nets pf, sf, couldn't stop Harrington or chandler. The nixs spread the floor and exposed the nets forwards.

That's right. We just couldn't stay with their frontcourt. They're too athletic for us. We had nobody who could stay with them -- just look at all those fouls. They can't handle our backcourt, but VC was off tonight from the start, and DH tired. Hope we can come up with something or somebody by next time.

Damn. Why the nixs? Why can't it be some other team?

Again, I have to put the blame on Frank for this lost. The team was not prepared. Knicks played their typical style this year. Going small and concentrating on offense. Nets panicked, over fouled.

I repeat. Harris scored huge in the first half on Duhon. Knicks shrugged it off, Duhon still ran the offense. Harris got tired with the second unit players, didn't know how to run his offense and started chucking. VC was a non-factor tonight.

I don't mean this as an insult, but Nets fans are really ignorant about how to play run and gun teams. Sure the defense was bad, but that's to be expected. the entire Knicks frontline are build for mismatches. David Lee and Wilson Chandler are faster than other teams C and PF, Al Harrington is too big and strong for other small forwards. Any team is going to have defensive problems against them, that's how run and gun works. But the worst thing you can do is get sucked into playing their game, which the Nets did. Using small players to match up against them are going to get blown out every game.

The key to play against run and gun teams are to pound them inside, and make them pay for playing small. I followed Rockets for years, Yao can't guard any of the small guys, that doesn't mean he shouldn't be on the court, he makes them pay on the offensive end. The Nets really lost because we don't have a reliable post scorer, we tried to feed Lopez some but it was very successful. I knew it was a loss after frank took Lopez and Yi out in the 3rd and started to play Knicks game.

GET ready for a losing streak.

this was the beginning of a bubble burst. cdr needs to play. FRank got outcoached severely in this game. Why did we try and match what the knicks were doing? we should have fed blo in the post and had him kicking out all day!

the ryan anderson substituion was what really hurt us though. that and swat coming in.

shameful loss and we didnt seem to upset about it either.

i am steaming over here.

i agree with everything you have said. you kill small teams on the inside.

Yeah, they score, but they also get scored upon like nobody's business. Frank gave up on Lopez too soon. He was turning the ball over a lot, but he was just getting it going when he got pulled. The Knicks won tonight because three key guys went off. Chandler, Harrington, and Thomas all got extremely hot. That doesn't happen for them much, which was why they were 9-12. Thomas hitting the 3s and Harrington actually hitting some jumpers was killing them. And Chandler last night was 2 for 13, and tonight went 10 for 12, which is ridiculous. That is the NBA, each game comes down to 4 or 5 missed or made shots either way. Sometimes team catch fire, and there's not a lot you can do.

The most depressing thing is that the Nets may as well play their games in a high school gym. The non-home court they have will probably cost them about 5 to 7 wins this year at least.

There's nothing more enjoyable than coming home to a Knicks win, preferably if it's against the Nets.

All of this talk about the Nets being a legitimate team is false. I think they were on a hot streak more than anything. Here are some points about the game:

- Yi is wack. He's awful on defense. I particularly enjoyed watching Chandler, Al, and even Tim Thomas take turns pwning him from. That's a total of 89 points they combined for. Hopefully it becomes clear why I'm not high on him at all, especially when talking about the Nets' young core.

- Sean Williams is also wack. That Amare Stoudemire talk over the summer never ceases to put a smile on my face. I can't believe I was criticized for comparing him to Stromile Swift. Swift is actually better.

- Chandler is the real deal. He struggled last game, but it was only about time until he got it together. In about 2 years, I can definitely see him putting up 20/7 or close to it. This is still basically his rookie year since he wasn't getting minutes until the last month of the season.

-Duhon is the better point guard over Devin Harris. He really knows how to control the offense and get everyone the ball. Harris is a good scorer but a subpar passer, IMO. I actually think Marbury was a better passer than him during his Net tenure.

How did you guys let Al Harrington drop 40 on you guys?

Yeah I agree with you 100% how do you let a sh1tty player like Harrington from a sh1tty team like the Knicks beat you? Knicks, the joke of the eastern conference. OMG, this is the same Knicks that Starbury got chased out of town. THAT IS WHACKZ0razrolfcopter!!!

I guess when you have 2 mediocre inconsistent teams play each other, you're going to have inconsistent results. NAH... who am I kidding... the sh1tty KNICKS!!! omg!111friedchicken1111!

Harris isn't a good passer or a good natural point guard, which is why he needs VC or Dooling next to him to really excel. Both of those guys are not natural points either, but they have good passing skills and can take a lot of the "point guard" load off of Harris.

Chandler is very impressive. He has the length and skills to be an all-star in the future.

Williams is a bad basketball player.

Yi is a horrible defender, but then again nobody could stop any of those three guys you listed tonight. They were all on fire.

The Nets are a legitimate playoff team, but their inexperience and their horrible defense will cost them games like this. Nobody expects them to play as well as they did against Phoenix or Minnesota every game. Especially not at home...

If the Nets are considered a legitimate playoff team it is solely because of the horrible state of the eastern conference. If that is the case, then the Knicks must also be put into that category. The only reason why the Nets are even statistically better than the Knicks is because they just finished trading their two leading scorers (and one leading rebounder). And even then, the Knicks are only a mere two games behind the Nets for the 6th seed.

I also don't heed the "Knicks were just hot" notion, either. Al Harrington has had many high scoring games for the Knicks this season, so it is definitely something he is capable of doing on a fairly consistent basis. Besides, Harrington made a living at the line - 15-16. The Nets lost because their defense is bad, their coaching is bad, and many of their players aren't too good either (Yi, Swat, Yi, Swift, Yi, etc.).

Did I ever say the Knicks aren't a playoff team? The East is wide open this year. The only team I definitely can't see in the playoffs is Charlotte. Maybe Washington.

I also said the Nets played horrible defense, which was obviously the reason they lost. The Knicks wouldn't have heated up if the Nets had played good defense from the start.

Lawrence Frank has been GREAT this season. I don't see why you think he's a bad coach. He did get schooled by D'Antoni today, though. D'Antoni is a superb coach himself.

Dude, I just watched the replay. BS you target Yi out. The entire team sucked on D. Everytime Yi went to the Bench the Knicks pulled ahead more. So, BS calling out Yi. Blame Frank, he failed to match up the team and his subbing was terrible. Swift came in and sucked TO constantly, Swat sucked, TO and foul constantly.

Yi's defense need work, but you see he does hustle chasing little guys around.

Correction, Sir, Yi's defense is wack...overall, statistically he's a decent player based on his Efficiency rating which is a 13.27...he's right behind Luol Deng (13.31), and he's ahead of cats like Wilson Chandler (13.20) Al Thornton (13.04) and Kyle Korver and Tyson Chandler (both below a 13.00)...so overall, is Yi's game weak? No, but is his defense "weak"? Yes. His statistical output doesn't land anywhere near the vicinity of "wack"....your hypothesis isn't substantiated, b.

But if a player is horrible on defense, they cannot be a great overall player.

This is his 2nd year...no one in the Nets Front Office ever expected him to be Great in his Sophomore Season. Fast forward 2 years from now, if Yi's still weak on the defensive end come the 2011 season...then yes, ya'll can officially label him a disappointment.

"Wack" would be the Italian dude the Knicks drafted...."Wack" would be Darko Fuckin' Milicic...."Wack" would be Coaching staff of the Oklahoma Thunder.

I rest my case.
