You can feel the lack of joy when the team wins in here from people who so badly want to be mad at Stotts or Olshey or Kanter or anyone in a blazer uniform. For the 100th time I’m ok if they fire everyone. But spoelstra lost at home to us. Nurse’s team is awful. They have as many all stars as Portland. Brad Steven’s team is .500. If they fired Stotts tomorrow the entire rest of the NBA/fans/coaches would be shocked. In Portland people are shocked he is still coaching. It’s funny.

Exactly.

Miami wasn't that bad defense they did what there supposed to have opponent take tuff shots. There down fault was they gave us 10 offense rebounds and majority lead in score and couple and 1 for Kanter not for that we would had big L in column.

I wasn't impressed.

I'm told because we don't pass we are easy to defend, Dame is still struggling, and they still gave up 125.

Blazers find a way to survive in Miami and squeeze out a victory. The Blazers Uprise Postgame Show will talk about the game and wrap up today's trade deadline. Come chat hoops with us:

Amen... great road win!

I heard some pundit on Sirius NBA saying it's not inconceivable for Stotts to be COTY seeing where the team is and all the injuries. The grass is always greener I guess

it's a function of expectations and the way we win. How many of these close games have been downright fluky, or because Dame goes supernova? does this look sustainable to you? Right now, with the way we play, i doubt we will win a single playoff game. Nearly every metric predicts this.

And once again, we win on a last second FT by Dame after a game where we let a team missing its 3 of its 4 best players drop an easy 120 points on us.

You want me to celebrate tonight and ignore the obvious?

Enjoyed that game.
Another win on the road!
Looking at the schedule i did not have them winning this game or next.

That wouldn’t necessarily save his job George Karl and Dwayne Casey were fired immediately after winning COTY. Mike Brown was fired soon after he won too.

This drives me nuts.
How does LA close out games? Give lebron the ball and everyone clear out. Nets? Harden/Kyrie, one on one and they make a play. Giannis? Ball at the top and make a play. What did they do with Kobe? Jordan? I get caring “how it looks” when a team wins. But to isolate it to Portland is ridiculous. The cute comments and pictures about Stotts just giving Lillard the ball and that’s his plan- no shit- that better be his plan. That’s what coaches do. Get the ball to their best player and let him win the game. This isn’t high school. Will they lose in the playoffs, yes. They don’t defend well enough. But the “Stotts gets bailed out again” is dumb.

LA doesn't have the 30th ranked defense in the league. but im glad you're happy i guess. no one is sitting here rooting for losses. my general attitude in real life changes when we lose. i hate it. But the way we're winning is going to get us swept in round one.

I am never unhappy with a Blazers win.

Exactly, you can run all kinds of analytics and statistical modeling, but the most accurate metric to predict a result and quantify a team’s quality is simply margin of victory/net rating. Right now the Blazers are 20th in the league with negative net rating of about -1.0; simply put, they are giving up more points than they are scoring. When they play good teams they get blown out and they are eeking out wins over bad teams that Dame is single handedly pulling out with his greatness. You run this with enough instances over time and the numbers will catch up to you.

So wins are great, but the way you win does matter.
