....Are we the 2012-2013 Houston Rockets? We look oddly similar. 6th in ORTG and 16th in DRTG. A star with a bunch of unproven role players overachieving and having a feel-good story type of year.

Rockets signed Howard the off-season after btw. Could we follow a similar path?

Houston didnt have the leader dame is. Their star was a premadona head flailing actress. They also dont have neil olshey who values hard work, chemistry, and fundamental skill over jersey sales and big shoulders. I think we are fine.

I think we usually play really well on TNT.

I think we always play the Rockets on TNT at home as well. It's been like this for a few years.
IIRC, Dame's 40/11 against OKC (where RW also got 40/10reb) was on TNT.

I'm really just using all this to fuel my (completely far fetched) Al Horford dream.
That is some pie in the sky there. He gets 5th year and a boatload more money per year if he stays in ATL. And only team that is supposedly tempting him otherwise is ORL (went to school at Florida). I don't see him going West at all.

My comparison to the Rockets wasn't a slight, it was a compliment more than anything.

The Rockets managed to sign a marquee free agent because of that season, then had two straight 50+ win seasons including making the conference finals. I'll be ecstatic if that happens to us.

Of course there were other issues that eventually manifested, but you hope that doesn't happen to us.

The one which started Lillard time? I don't think that was televised nationally.

I just remember Aldridge always had good games against Houston, and they were always at home and on TNT.

You're right. We beat MIA, PHX and DAL (twice) and lost to GSW twice.

In 2013-14 Tex had a 27/20 TNT game against HOU and his 44/13 game against DEN. Dame had a 34/8 against LAL.

Mods, this is clearly a bannable offense.

Please give B-Roy the standard Ha Seung-jin signed jersey severance package and send him on his way.

i would hate to sign a howard type free agent and completely destroy chemistry. luckily i think dame is a strong enough leader we could probably handle 1 bone head, but preferably not howard.

this game starts after my bed time which means i might have to nap tomorrow so i dont die at work the next day. i cant miss lillard making history with another 30+ point game.

Funny thing. Even though Rockets almost beat a playing-really-well Utah team, the clutch fans don't see much hope for tonight, lol:
Ladieeeeeees and Gentlemennnnn,

In the white corner, a former player hailing from Cedar Falls, Iowa, we have an actual NBA head coach Terrrrrrr-rrrrrrrrrry Ssssssscotts! Mentored under another actual NBA head coach George Karl, Terry enters his 3rd season as coach for the Portland Trailblazers. Holding a .640 record the past 2 seasons, Terry defeated tonight's opponent in the 1st round of the Western Conference playoffs in his 2nd season. Terry's most recent achievements includes leading his seemingly depleted team in a 30pt beat down on the current champs.

Annnnd in the red corner, son of former actual head NBA coach, and current steward-puppet managing the analytics philopsophy for the Houston Rockets, Jayyyy Beeeeeee Bickerstaff! Mentored under previous steward-puppet of analytics philosophy Kevin McHale, JB enters his first and last year as interim steward-puppet. At the helm behind JB, pulling the strings, the man behind the curtain, the sabertooth of sabremetrics, master of spreadsheets, really good at ping pong Darrryyl Morrr-rrrrayyyy. Morey has led his team to many moral victories this season, and a most recent actual victory against the Phoenix Suns.

DING DING DING! Let's go Rockets!

This should probably go in the In Praise of Terry Stotts thread, but even the HOU fans are impressed by what our head coach has accomplished:

If you forgot why you hate the Rockets whole organization down to their analysts...

Wow, I'd never seen that. That's one of the most incredible things I've ever heard. Calvin is out of his mind. Damian never even insinuated that people couldn't touch him, it's all the extracurricular pushing and showing that Beverly does, mostly after the play has ended.

Calvin Murphy said that on March 9th of 2014... But there's a happy ending. Just 54 short days later, Calvin no doubt watched this happen:

Hahahaha! Hahahaha! Hahahaha! What is in the water in Texas? Calvin Murphy was a tough player, but I never realized he was mentally challenged. He just completely misrepresented Lillard's comments. The Houston announcers and commentators are 10x bigger homers than even the Houston fans. It's weird.
