We’ve clinch no worse than 7th. Remember when people said we’d fall to 10th?

This is annoying. The Jazz lost the season series against the Suns, so for them to win the #1 seed, they now have to win all 3 of their games or hope for Phoenix to lose at least 1 game and have the Jazz win 2.

This is gonna be one wild ass end of the season. There are so many variables, it's maddening.

yeah....I mentioned this in the other thread but with fans allowed in games now HCA is very meaningful again. Utah and Phoenix will be goin all out to win the games against Portland. And unfortunately for the Blazers the two games are back-2-back. Talk about degree of difficulty

the Lakers haven't been playing well, but it's realistic to see them winning at least 3 of their remaining games; and maybe all 4. The toughest one is the Knicks tomorrow night. Portland may very well have to win 2 of their remaining 3 games to avoid the play-in. I've said before it would fit with this Blazer team for everything to be riding on the season final against Denver

I really wish this team didn't have to scrap and fight to get into the playoffs/not do the play-in.

I can’t believe that the Blazers allowed 129 points to basically a bunch of G-Leaguers :banghead2:

at this point we can probably stop being surprised by poor defense.

Portland just has to outscore teams by great offense and getting a few opportune stops a game

The Rockets have some good players and a potent offense. In the 3 games before tonight, they put up 115 on the Sixers, 133 on the Bucks, and 116 on the Jazz.

So we are the Bucks of the west.

Just trying to understand how to do this one game sample means everything kind of perspective. It doesn't make sense, but hey.

And for the record, I'm not talking about win loss.. just that we almost gave up the same amount as the Bucks.

Switched to Rockets' broadcast. Enough of that amateur hour. Emmy my ass
Want me to let you in on a little behind the scenes info..... the Rockets took our cameras and replays and simply put their own graphics over it. So it was OUR show, with THEIR score box. Crazy huh?

I wish we could always have the other team's play-by-play guy, so it's THEIR show with OUR score box.

That's how much I can't stand Jordan Kent.

His voice, his delivery, everything he says reminds me of that guy in Junior High who tried to hang out with you by saying everything in a really loud and obvious way and you just wanted him to go make friends with somebody else. He even has that guy's penchant for a failed catch phrase. Stop trying to make "Paint it" happen. It's not going to happen.

I'm sorry to put down your coworker. If it's any consolation I hope Lamar Hurd is with the Blazers for the next 30 years. He's a natural, and as he matures I'd love to see him do so on my team.

You know who I wish we could get back? Pete Pranica. I always loved his delivery, and I'm happy when we play the Griz because he's just an a-ok guy.

Just stop. He's not the starting PF anymore. He's been out for almost 2 complete seasons.
he was our projected starter, well se whast gonna happen in the future

but he can defend, has nice footwork and can stretch the floor, so my opinion is that collins is our starting power forward, mainly cause of his defense

but we have options as of now (powell, covington), so if powell stays, it will be interesting to see who starts besides dame, cj mccollum & nurk (powell-roco, powell-collins, roco-collins)

im believer in zach collins!

I'm a fan of him too, but this "they're missing their starting PF" trope is silly. He's started a TOTAL of 11 games where he had been declared the 'starter' (he started a game as a rookie, but that was more out of necessity). That's not near enough games to create chemistry with the other players, nor enough games to impact the teams performance still.

Yes but they didnt use the mad crazy courtside angle that was giving me seizures. They used the normal one that NBA broadcasts have been for 50 yrs.

I think people need to stop freaking out over the defense last night. Or the back-to-back against the Jazz and Suns.

The Rockets gave up 140. We put it on cruise control in the second quarter. We were solid defensively. They were banking in 3s. They threw up a shot between two Blazers and over Nurk 3 feet from the hoop that went in when there was a 90% chance it got blocked into the third row. They made a couple of 3s from several feet behind the line. They had nothing to lose, they played loose because they were out of the game early, and they made shots that we were contesting that they aren't going to make on a lot nights. In the last couple of weeks, our defense has been a lot better than earlier in the season, and it was OK last night. Keep everything in context.

As for the Jazz and Suns, it's not the Blazers from our low point of the season playing the Jazz and Suns at their best. It's three teams playing NOW. Look at the rosters. Look at how they've been playing lately. If I were the Jazz and Suns, I'd be worried about playing us. Look at the lineups, the rosters. If you look at the players over the course of their careers, is there a reason we should act like the Jazz and Suns are out of the Blazers' league? Of course not. The Jazz were fantastic over the first half of the season and now have come back down to earth a bit more to where their talent dictates they belong. The Suns had a great stretch in the middle of the season until a couple of weeks ago ... and now they're playing back more where their talent would dictate, losing to the Hawks (who'd just beaten us by nine) by 32 and a LeBron-less Lakers (that we beat) by 13, and giving up 118 points to the Cavaliers. I'd be disappointed if we didn't at least split these games and I wouldn't be surprised if we win them both. We're playing well. We have players who've shown they can play well individually and as a unit. If we get hot now, there's no reason to believe we can't play like the Jazz did early this season and the Suns did in the middle.

Well, if you’re going to cherry-pick one game out of the three that I listed, let’s go with the Jazz. And it wasn’t a one-game sample. I simply pointed out that the Rockets recently have been putting up big offensive numbers on the teams they have played. That says something about them. It doesn’t say that the Blazers are a good defensive team. I wasn’t trying to make that assertion because I don’t believe it. But the “OMG, how could the Blazers allow a crappy team like the Rockets to score that much?” narrative is dumb. The Rockets have some good scorers and they have shown that they can score on good teams. They can’t beat them, because their D is awful, but they can score.

Also the Bench mob allowed 8 points in the last 90 seconds. That might skew things a bit?

I should have pointed out this wasn't aimed at you. I was being tounge in cheek. I dont believe the narrative at all lol

I randomly played Words with Friends with Pete once. I was like “Are you THE Pete Pranica?”

No need to apologize, everybody has an opinion. I’m quite sure somebody on here could find some faults with one of your co-workers. They wouldn’t owe you an apology. Ya, I remember watching Pete back in the day. I joined Blazers Broadcasting spring of ‘99, so I never worked with him, but got to know him over the years. Good guy.
