Crabbe's decline has been surprising. His defense has always been overrated; but it seems like he's fouling even more than he used to which puts him in foul prone big man territory. He's gambling for steals that result in layups.
Before Henderson got into his grove Crabbe was the second option on offense when he was on the court at SG with Dame or CJ at point. Those were the vast majority of his minutes and it was the best he's ever looked. I'm not sure if having less opportunities to create is the main recent problem for him? Maybe he was just hot for a few months and it was destined to change regardless.
A few months ago with him averaging double figures, only being 23, and our clear 3rd scoring option for a productive offense I thought he had a chance at an Enes Kanter type of overpaid max. Now he looks more like an MLE player. Maybe we save a few bucks from our cap but we now have less clarity at that position. After the first month of the season it looked like Hendo was a one year rental and Crabbe a multi year peace. Maybe those futures have reversed.
