GAME THREAD: BLAZERS @ KNICKS - FEB. 5TH, 2014, WEDNESDAY, 5:00 PM, ESPN & CSNNW

He still sucks and shouldn't be a rotation player. It's just every other big we have is even worse.

Passing to Freeland is like a guaranteed turnover. It's got a 70% chance of being turned over and a 25% chance of a being a horrible brick.

I agree, Freeland isn't horrible, but we still lose ground with him in the game. He's more of a 3rd string/Euro talent.

Ironically, the only bench player I like is Thomas Robinson, and he's the one the coaches keep benching.

I was excited at the Meyers pick at first, a 7-1 athletic center who could shoot. But now I'm a complete Meyers hater. Wish we would have taken Lamb or Sullinger.

ANd the Warriors kicked our ass last time... so? lol.

We just need some changes. This team isn't deep enough, period.

And we destroyed GS in GS too. 1-1 with two games remaining at Moda Center. You expect us to sweep Warriors? I'll be fine with 3-1. We are having a great season. ESPN considers a title contender. The Miami TV announcers think we'll be in the Finals with them.

At the end of a win, Wheels always says, "And once again, it is a great day to be a Blazer."

Well, I'm not sure about that in this case. Glad they won but that 'beating your Grandma in a race doesn't make you fast' analogy seems sadly fitting. The Knicks are a mess. They are 1-23 when trailing at the end of 3 quarters and Portland did their best to make them 2-23.

Thank goodness it was the Knicks.

Do you really think that is because of Joel and not who he is in the game with?

We need a trade. Desperately.

If we could get Chandler, I'd say we do it. The guy played solid defense on LA.

I don't think that addresses our problems. Chandler is not going to cut down on our stupid turnovers.

Most frustrating, stressful game to watch this season. Yes we won and yes LMA made a great clutch shot late. But I didn't like us forcing it to LMA all game long against a guy who defends him well.
Watching Mo on every facet of his game is giving me ulcers. And the turnovers from everyone, the missed free throws and missed layup late. Fearing every minute that we might lose to the hated and despised Fatty Felton team! Arrgh!!! Maybe now i will make some breakfast and a cup of green tea and try to wind down.

So? Why does ESPN's opinion really mean anything? It's not like they really cover sports anymore.

And we did not destroy GS at all. We beat them, yes... but I considered "destroyed" to be from buzzer to buzzer. That's where we differ in that, I suppose

Exactly.

Though, I do like that we are 12-0 on the road when we are leading going into the 4th.

Playing like a "winner" implies that you play in such a way that would normally get you a win, that was not the case tonight. It was shitty basketball on both sides, Portland just got lucky that we were playing a pathetic opponent who also had a bad game.

If you beat a grandma in a foot race by walking that doesn't make you "fast".

You post like you've never played a second of competitive sports in your life. A WIN IS A GOD DAMNED WIN! Whether you grind it out or kick somebody's ass, on April 17th they count the same. Fucking sit back and enjoy a game for once!

That fourth quarter was many things, but enjoyable? I might need to be convinced. New York is a bad bad BAD team.

I'm very glad we won though!

Hell, I even re-watched it and it was a bad quarter by both teams.

Glad we won? Yes. Thrilled about how we won? Other than defense (shocking!), no.

The schonz was pissed the entire quarter, I bet. lol.

No team goes 3-15 in the 4th quarter of a close game and wins on the road... except against the Knicks. That was mind-bendingly bad basketball by them. So many stupid turnovers and fouls. Just shitty ball playing! Might have been the worst quarter of basketball I've seen played by an opponent this year.

That said, LOVED Nic's fire tonight!

Also I hope this shuts everyone up about trading for Shumpert. Dude sucks ass.

It was partly suprising to see just how many bad shots melo took. There was 3 or 4 where they got the board and within 2 seconds he shot it from 3.

I mean, I got on the Blazers today for the bad play, but their defensive output today was a good surprise. Also, it could be a lot worse... we could be fans of the Knicks.

That's on you bro. As somebody who played basketball, football, soccer and played sports in the Army...... after being drilled by our coaches for years....."Get the win no matter what! I don't give a fuck HOW you do it....just DO it!" Put it in the WIN column and get out of town.

On that note, I bet the Warriors and Bulls last night would of LOVED to of played ugly and like shit and got a W.

I invite people to look back at game threads from last year to see what the comments about Freeland were like. I remember a few "he'll be in Europe next year" comments, and some incredulity this summer when he was announced as a rotation player. He's not bad. Not great, but a decent 8/9th man (or 4th big, if you prefer).

I'm not saying Leonard's a lock to be a solid rotation player in 12 months, but things can change.
It seems like he would benefit by playing regularly in actual games, why isn't he in the D league? Send kim Hughes with him if they think he needs constant coaching.

Another game I didn't get to see bc of no Comcast. Glad they won. Worried about the shooting %'s of Dame though.... and well Mo as well.... hope our bench can be consistent for the rest of the season...

fuck me, just found out it was on ESPN. of course.... sigh /facepalm

If you told me at the beginning of the season LA and Dame would play like shit on the road and we would still win, I wouldn't have believed you. Yet it happened.

And how is no one talking about how good Nico looked? Really active on both ends of the floor. If he can play at that level of effectiveness, we may find our way out of this mini-slump.

Most importantly, we won. On to Indy!

I think we don't talk about it because we know it's so erratic, so why waste time?

blue32, please remember the POR/IND game is on ESPN as well. You don't want to fuck yourself twice in one week.

He hasn't been erratic lately, he's been dreadful. I think his injuries really affected his play. Against the Knicks, he was active and looked great.

I don't care what his stats are. An effective Nico doesn't need 20/10. He just needs to be a facilitator, a threat to have to cover and an active defender. If we get that Batum back, we're in good shape.

Also, I bet you don't see LA and Damian have back-to-back crap games like that again.

If you have the time this morning, as of this post the replay is still available on watchespn.com .

This is Indiana in Indiana... this could be a really bad game for us. We have had trouble scoring against bad defenses... I hope I'm wrong.

Nic needs to work on making simpler passes. That part of it pisses me off...

He's simply not a professional basketball player. He should not be in this league. He better save up his money because he has no future in this sport, and no business being in our rotation. I'm starting to question Stotts' sanity.

Well, when the rest of the bench has been playing pretty poorly, you take a chance and give one of the end-of-the-bench players a chance and see if, perhaps, they can perform better than those normally ahead of them.

Gramps...

He's the number 2 or 3 forward in the ENTIRE NBA in assists. How could that possibly piss you off? The guy was a late first round pick in the draft...ANYTHING positive he does you should be thrilled. You have the right to be pissed if he was a lottery pic son!

He still makes dumb passes, though, HCP. Even the best assist people make 'em. Just pointing it out.
