GAME THREAD: BLAZERS @ ROCKETS - MARCH 9TH, 2014 - SUNDAY, 4:00 PM (PST), KGW

I remember thinking "holy shit we're gonna get a 5-count!" but then Lin inbounded it and Harden hit it and I forgot entirely.

I remember as well. I was yelling at the screen 5 SECONDS. But thought I was just being a homer. Now I know, I was god damned right and we got jobbed by the NBA.

That's exactly what happened in my house

I re-watched some of those highlights. We were tied with about 8 seconds left and they run the lob play and Lin sniffs it out easily. I want to know whose decision it was to run that play in that situation. And did Nic really throw that pass?

I saw Dame mouth "LAST SHOT" before coming out of the timeout, but that play (even if it worked) would have left HOU with plenty of time for a game winner/tier.

WTF

It felt like a broken play to me, honestly. I don't think the alley oop was the first or even second option.

I dunno, man, looking at the way they were lined up, it looked like the play call. Don't really feel like re-watching it on LPBB cuz it would get me more pissed, but whatever it was, it was a horrible decision.

At the very least we probably should let the guy with the broken finger throw important passes. :ghoti:

I was yelling for the 5 second count. Then I rewound the DVR and counted it out myself. I was pissed, but not moreso than a dozen other times this game. You will never find a single thread where I've complained this much about the reffing in a game. It was just such bullshit.

And Beverly is a Bitch.

Oh, yeah, and they dribbled after the inbound before the time out. They should have inbounded under our basket.

That's what I thought at the time. It doesn't make sense to run that play with so much time left.

Shitty reffing kicks the wind out of your sails. I rarely bitch about reffing but it was a joke. Our best player fouled out and 2 of those fouls were blatant bogus calls.

I can't forgive 0 FG in the last 7min of the game

Plus the fact Wesley missed a chance to ice the game when he missed that FT to put the Blazers up 4. He missed, the lead stayed at 3, Harden came down on the next possession and tied the game.

Choked. Again.

This loss is on the Blazers because they didn't play a complete 48 minutes. That's been happening too much lately, especially against the best teams in the west (1-10 vs western conference playoff teams in 2014).

The NBA game today is predicated on deceiving the refs and and getting the advantage with mind fucking the refs. We aren't very good at it and that was the difference in today's game.

Watch the Clippers, Rockets, Thunder and even the Spurs. Constant bitching to the refs on every play and tricking the refs into thinking every time you flail whether you're actually fouled or not that its a call.

It was fucking gross watching Harden flail around on every little bit or contact or even when there was no contact.

This may be your best post I've ever read. It's not fun to watch players flop all over the court for true fans of basketball. Beverley and Harden are perfecting the art, and are being rewarded for it. Harden is an elite player, too, and doesn't need to do that shit. I've noticed that Blake Griffin flops much less this season, and guess what, he's a legitimate MVP candidate for it.

There were 2 picks set up on the play for Lillard to get to the rim. That was the play. Lin somehow sniffed it out. Maybe he watched film of the Laker/Blazer ending? He went to Harvard, so it's not like he wouldn't pick up on a formation. Plus, it was a bad pass. It was 2' lower than where Lillard should have caught the ball. I can't blame Batum for that, though, because it's not an easy pass at all. It was just a stupid play call. Either ISO Lillard or post LMA. A drive or a fade-away at the buzzer would have been much better.
