Boob's got this right. I have the game on DVR and watched the 4th quarter a few times now. Aldridge was big on the board in the 4th quarter too.

Yep look at the game thread and my comment about Aldridge being the best rebounding big man in the 4th quarter

A lot of that was because Lopez was blocking out Davis during the 4th. He was guarding him and did an amazing job of staying with him and keeping him away from the basket.

Whatever the reason, Aldridge goes beast mode on the boards in the 4th for as long as I can remember

So late last night I watched the Kings v Pels game. Going into the 4th NOLA had like a 7 point lead and were really clicking. Davis checked back in with 10 minutes left and I purposely watched JUST him the rest of the game on the offensive end.

I had mentioned above that his lack of a go to move really shows itself in the 4th quarter or down the stretch in tight games. Wanted to check myself on this opinion.

The HCP was right again.........His strength is in how active he is and his constant motion. Just like in our game he just kinda' stayed on the baseline 15 feet from the hoop while his 3 guards dominated the ball. He didn't get post position ONCE that entire 4th quarter! That is ridiculous. He shot 1 poor jumper from about 15 and missed as the clock was winding down and had a random allyoop when he had a guard switched on him.

Don't get me wrong, he is a star on the rise, but after the verbal lap dances he was receiving on here it was kinda' bugging me. If LA disappeared like this guy does in tight games this place would be going nuts.

Davis is young enough and athletic enough to learn a go to post move, but just doesn't quite have it yet.

I sat with a friend at the pub before the Blazers played the Pelicans and talked about Davis. I told him I thought he was getting a bit too hyped IMO, that his numbers are amazing, the fact he can give you 25, 10 with 5 blocks, 5 steals is incredible but from what I remember he's not the kind of player you fear going up against like Shaq or younger Duncan, that he is not as dominant as his numbers, hype, suggest.

Well, considering he is only 21...that's the fear part. You bring up Duncan and shaq but those two guys were 21 already coming into the league, if Davis is killing us now, what's he gonna do it 2-3 years?

His only downside is 4th quarter take overs but as HCP pointed out, he has Holliday, Gordan and Evans playing Monty McMillan iso ball.

He has many similarities to Duncan but I don't think he's as good as Duncan was in his 2nd season, even though I do realize he's a bit younger. I'm not saying his not a good player, probably going to even be great and his statistics Are amazing but he's not even the best player from his draft class IMHO

You can't compare Duncan and Davis.

Duncan is the best power forward of all time but he came into the league with a great team, his career was basically guaranteed to be a success. Davis is carrying the pelicans like LeBron did back in his early years with the cavs.

I don't know if he impacts the game the way he impacts the box-score

He does, it's because of him that his team's jump up to big leagues, they just can't finish and that's the trait of youth. Which is literally everyone on that roster. If Ryan anderson and John salmons are your team vets.. That's hard.

They're so much like the early thunder teams... It's eerily similar.

I agree with HCP. I said it countless times before and after this game.

AD doesn't have a back to the basket game. You can't dump it to him and know he can score at will. Until AD develops that game, he will be a stud but not a superstar

Nope, absolutely not. Davis and Aldridge both re-entered the game at the 9:13 mark of the 4th quarter. At the time, NOP was up 83-73. Aldridge scored all 10 of his 4th quarter points while being guarded by Davis. Davis had a huge game, but in the 4th quarter, he was outplayed by Aldridge as the Blazers came back from double digits to win.

BNM

In fact, on "talking ball" you see replays of Aldridge posting up Davis and scoring in the paint.

Thing with Aldridge is he can adjust his game because he has many moves. Once he got his timing down, he was able to exploit AD.

Some younger players like Davis haven't learned to pace themselves when they are required to play big minutes and run out of gas at the end. Our starters seem to have figured that out and play better after halftime than before more often than not

I think once Stotts figured out the best lineup (the regular starters + Blake) we were able to pull away.

I hope people don't think I'm bashing AD, I just think his one weakness is a go to move. That can be fixed easily for someone as gifted as he is. Oh ya, and he'll be in his prime in about 8 years!

After watching him, I'm a believer! This dude will be something else in 3 more years. I'm talking Shaq-like Domination.

Davis should be spending his summers with Hakeem, he has the ability and ball handling to be Hakeem offensively and KG defensively.

I hope he stays in NO. I don't want the Lakers, Bulls, Knicks, Nets, Rockets or Mavs to land him.

He seems loyal from the interviews I've seen. He's not a "look at me player". He lets his game do the talking. Look at the players that bolt. They are all "me first" type players

I tell ya what........I'm surprised more people don't work out with The Dream..... BEST POST GAME IN THE HISTORY OF THE NBA!

Shit, all AD has to do is work out with Al Jefferson and he'd be good to go. You put Al Jeff's post game into AD's game and he'd be the MVP!

C'Mon HCP, Kevin McHale is on Line 1 !

I'd put Chris Kaman in the "white guy who has post moves" column
