Atlanta is a good team.

Portland was supposed to be a good team too. Apparently they either missed that memo, or bought their hype so much they didn't think they had to do the simple things. You know, play defense or not such on offense.

Another well coached gem by Nate.

And the Atlanta Hawks would like to thank Nate McMillan for playing most of the 4th quarter without a center. Bravo Nate! Couldn't have done it without ya!
the Hawks don't have a center, so...

Coming from the biggest Travis honk and apologist on this board, this statement is ringing just a little hollow.

Travis was the only guy who could score down the stretch tonight. Travis is a much more established player in this league than Greg Oden.

True, but they have super athletic forwards who like to attack the rim. We do not. Without Oden and Joel, guys like Josh Smith and Horford were able to feast on us.

With the few who are defending McMillan's subbing patterns because Oden was in foul trouble, did you just magically fucking forget that we have Joel who plays center as well? Why the fuck were we playing without a center for so long? Fucking idiot. I always said blocking someone is petty, but it's getting to the point where I might have to.

The key to our improvement this season was Oden but he can't stay in the games. And he finds ways to fumble the ball even when wide open. Sucks. Every game, I have high hopes for him and he starts off well and then it all falls apart. Game after game.

He got 8/9 in 15 minutes. Give the guy a freaking break.

Joel is a liability on offense and we needed some scores.

The problem is the shooting percentage. This year's team is shooting significantly worse than last year's team. They were .511 last season, they are .470 this season. That is a significant amount considering they shot 75 fgpg this year, and 79 fgpg last year.

edit: there defense seems to have improved from a FG perspective, their opponents were .499 last year, and .459 this year. and attempts were 76.9 and are now 72.8.

overall, it seems like they should have the same results, (both teams % dropped by 4 and attempts by 4)

How is that exactly relevant? Let's play to the strengths of the opposition or us? We don't have much of a starting point guard, I think we should start asking teams with good point guards to not play them quite as much.

hey... its just pre season!!!!

shit its game 5 and we lost awful. still dont think we need 3rd scorer??? and roy sucks balls this year. last years team wins that game. this years team could care less

Dude, did you fucking watch the quarter? We got out rebounded and that's why we lost. You make Sarah Palin's baby look like Ben Stein. Seriously.

What's scary is that Oden hasn't even played against a real center yet.

Outlaw was that third scorer tonight.

Nate prefers other teams dictate matchups as seen by him saying he would play Frye or Martell in last year's game in Toronto depending on who Triano played.

I just don't understand the three guard lineups. We have people capable of playing small forward. Martell played 27 minutes tonight. He aint old. I think he can handle more minutes. He was playing well too. This team continues its trend of going away from the hot hand.

I watched LMA and Outlaw grab several key rebounds. Were you watching?

We need a 3rd scorer. Waiting on Oden is going to screw us since it's basically a crapshoot.

So because they grabbed several key rebounds, we couldn't have rebounded any more? Is that seriously your argument? How many second chance opportunities did the Hawks get in the 4th with both Greg and Joel out of the game. Now I see that ecstasy is your drug of choice, it is obviously eating away at your brain stem.

Oden had a 24/15 game against Milwaukee last season. A glimmer of hope. By this season, he'd be ready to kick it into another gear, right? Almost everyone in here predicted Oden would average at LEAST 14/11/2 this season. Many had him averaging much more. Time to stop making excuses and admit that you're disappointed.

No.

Interesting stat that the only 3 Blazers with a + instead of a - are all Caucasion, while Miller has the worst minus (-13).
