Gary Payton II Trade to the Warriors (1 Viewer)

I don’t know any of the answers. I think GS knew he wasn’t 100% but didn’t think he was as far away from 100% than he is. I think then it was asked, the response was a lot more optimistic than reality shows. And that’s why GS is upset. Instead of saying where’s he’s at, what he has to do (take) to play, they sugar coated it. That’s what I think. Then GP2 showed up and fails a physical that GS didn’t expect him to fail. I don’t get how people think GS is such an awful, hateful franchise and is willing to potentially get caught red handed trying to fuck over another franchise. That seems a bit risky for GS.

I know you don't know as 100% fact the answers to my 3 specific questions, nobody does. I'm asking you to venture a guess given a combination of current reporting and common sense. Please give it a shot.

I'm not attacking your friend/source, I'm just asking because if your answer to my 3 questions is no, then I think that might help answer your original question to why some people objected to the first reports.

But apparently par for the course for the Blazers...

But yeah, blazers need some blame in this.

Verdict is out. No blame on the blazers. This isn't a "both sides" bullshit thing. GSW tried to railroad is and we told them fuck you.

Thing is, I didn't have much of an issue with GSW until this. Now they can go get bent

What if this IS 100% for him now? I’m in my 40s and my body just hurts sometimes. My knee will just hurt. I didn’t do anything. I’m just getting older and Payton is getting older too.

Still haven’t explained what he failed exactly.

Do you think he didn’t fail a physical? So he played vs Portland, then fails a physical, and he says he takes something in order to play, and GS docs say how far away from being 100% he is, and GS is supposed to just shrug it off?
And what is entailed in failing a physical? Is there a specific medical conclusion that he is unable to play basketball for the foreseeable future or is it the opinion of the staff to accept the results of the physical or reject them? If it's the former, please point to me the specific language where he "failed".

If Payton went in and stupidly made a bunch of exaggerations about his pain and why he wasn’t playing, would that trigger a fail?

Admittedly I have not read up on this or heard anything from anyone about it. Only heard from one person on the whole thing. Where exactly did GS fuck over Portland? Is the consensus here that GS made up the whole thing because they were just hoping to get the Portland Trailblazers in trouble? Remove picks from the deal? So to keep extra picks they chose to concoct an elaborate story risking everyone’s reputation? Fascinating

LOL

Seriously how many times have you heard a player or coach say that there is no such thing as 100% in professional sports? I've heard it a lot. We obviously had Gary cleared to play. I'm betting that's all we said about him, if there was anything said at all. If there was something that we did that was unethical then let the league penalize us for it.

@Chris Craig you probably need to take the tin foil off of your head because there's no way that the league would penalize us a first rounder for something like this... a second rounder or two might be the penalty but it won't be a first rounder and the league is not actively trying to fuck us over or get Dame to leave our team... come on.

I think it could. If they asked him if he was good to go and he said he wasn't, I think they would fail his physical. The weird thing for me is that they said they were going to do xrays. If this has anything to do with his abdominal issues xrays would be the wrong test to do. I think there is a lot that doesn't make sense about this and if the league ends up coming out and just saying that they found no significant wrong doing, then we'll never know what the fuck is/was going on.

Do you think Blazers fans/organization should be cool with a report that that they forced Payton to play hurt, gave him shots, and that he can't play for 3 more months, when it appears none of that is true?

My question is: Why are Warriors fans so hurt that the Blazers and their fans pushed back against the false reporting when it didn't pass the sniff test from the very start?

You're literally responding to one of these Warrior fans.

Guy's been in this thread from early on hiding behind garbage cans throwing the occasional snide comment to posts about how this didn't pass the smell test. Now, when it's really looking like GS was just pot-stirring, calvin natt comes out of the shadows, saying he hasn't really followed the story and starts standing up for the Warriors and claiming there was no harm to the Blazers ... even though since Thursday there's been a campaign launched by the Athletics' GSW beat writer and picked up by two of the biggest national NBA writers that the Blazers are a dirty organization that "forced" GP2 to have large-dosage painkiller injections and to play even though he knew he couldn't.

This guy's a fraud. I made my one comment back to him. I'd advise others to avoid him, because he's working from an intellectually dishonest angle now.

Let's also acknowledge once more because it's not getting enough attention.

He was cleared by the surgeon first. Not the team.

You're going to be shot up on Toradol as punishment for not following the national narrative and, you know, actually making sense.

Funny that someone who self-admittedly hasn’t followed the situation at all would mock and condescend on those that have followed it. Fascinating.

He's been doing it on and off this whole thread.

Man I hope you guys figure this out, because I sure can't.

I think he meant that it's been confirmed that Payton didn't receive shots but did take some Toradol in pill form. Poster isn't saying Toradol shots don't exist, just that Payton didn't get them.
Yeah, that's what someone else said and all of us communicate unclearly from time to time. It's just that "There is no shot." sounded like there is no shot, not that there weren't any shots given or Gary didn't receive any shots. Like I said, it's cool. I say things in ways that aren't easily understood too.

It will either be made very plain for us by the league when they take a second rounder or two away from us and tell everyone what we did wrong that needed that sort of discipline. Or more likely we'll never know anything because the league will come out with a statement saying that there wasn't any wrongdoing significant enough to warrant penalizing our team... which would leave all of this just as clear as it currently is and that is the clarity of mud.

It's just as easy in the NBA to get an investigation going, as it is in DC.
