Gary Payton II Trade to the Warriors (1 Viewer)

I went to college with a guy named Chris Burr. He had a brother named Tim and a sister named Barb.

Of course there is the famous James Stephen Hogg who named his daughter Ima.

unless, somehow, Payton re-injured himself and the Blazers didn't report it I'm not sure what the Warrior are hinging their grievance hat on.
That made me think of something. What if Gary did re-injure himself and didn't let anyone know because he was pretty sure by then he was going to the Warriors and he didn't want to stop that?

so, if Payton re-injured himself and didn't tell the Blazers it would be impossible for the Blazers to divulge what they didn't know

But if he did so that, he would probably not want to own up to it to GS, so maybe he would lie and say he told Portland? All complete speculation of course.

so whats the TL;DR on this, did this go through? is there an actual investigation?

Just saw on the espn bottom line that the warriors hope he will be ready for the playoffs and will be re-evaluated in one month.

Lol

I have to call out ignorance. Someday it’ll all make sense…Those who seems the most butthurt about my posts aren’t exactly posters I give a shit about or respect. I haven’t written a single thing I would take back.

Share what you know then. Until you do so, it looks like you cornered yourself by defending a source within the GSW organization, and are doubling down with no recourse. Right now, you're the only one in this thread who believes whatever that source is feeding you.

I think its very possible that's what he decided to do.

When he found out about the trade, he jumped for joy so hard, that he re-injured himself.

I always though this was the most probable thing.
He re-injured himself and either he and/or the training staff dismissed it as 'normal' soreness.

Ha. I still don’t even know what people are so upset about regarding my questions and comments about GS. I asked real questions. People got fired up because they are fans of a team and can’t imagine them being wrong. Warrior fans are doing the exact same for their team. It’s funny. It’s fandom. The truth is in the middle (most likely). I don’t get emotional about teams. Maybe because I’m jaded and seen too much.

Do you have a source in the bay. Or nay?

I’ll ask you again because this is very unusual?
I’m just not certain what your point is at stage of the game?
You are no longer unaware of the facts and timeline. This entire situation is a terrible look for the Warriors and their front office.
The Blazers have done nothing wrong here and it’s getting more and more obvious all the time.

I'm a Blazer fan living by the Bay. I leave local sports talk on in the background for much of my working day and can confirm whats highlighted. Today multiple shows used the Toradol injections stuff as truth as the basis for hosts stating that Portland will be giving up picks and fined massively. Among those hosts making those claims was former Portland sports talker John Lund on his 10-2 slot. Local media fanning debunked nonsense is at least partially responsible for why fans get so incensed/engaged... hard to think that blind eye wasn't turned on purpose to incense/engage fans right? Is that funny too?

From my biased perspective, having watched plenty of Payton the last few years it was obvious he was dealing with injury this year. The surgery he underwent wasn't a secret nor was the fact that his recovery did not go well as he missed many months past the initial projections. When he finally debuted, not only were his stats way down but he grimaced and clutched his abdomen every game and openly spoke about playing through the pain in the press. I recall he also said that Doctors had assured him playing wouldn't make it worse.

If the Blazers weren't secretly injecting him with painkillers to ready him to play in this all important sub 500 season, what exactly might they have been hiding? His injury was out in the open... is he now not projected to ever heal or is he just limited this year like he spoke in the press?

This is where you're losing the audience. You're pretending to ask unbiased questions, but then you reveal your real motives with statements like, "I have to call out ignorance. Someday it’ll all make sense…" Credibility is slipping away.

What a politician statement.

Never said why you believed what you believed.

You've done this 3 times in the thread.

We will just call this your concession speech and we accept it.

I just watched Torey and Eric's response to the GPII trade and it's pretty damn entertaining.

Hmmm I can't share it.

I wouldn't be shocked if he went to college with Myers or something like that. He seemed to be really sensitive to the criticism of their FO and GM.

It's kind of silly, though. He's posted multiple times that he hasn't been following this and doesn't really know what's going on. He's also posted multiple times that people posting here are wrong in their speculation. Now it's "the truth is probably in the middle" when a lot of us have been going through facts and logic to explain why the GS POV doesn't have legs, talking about how GS's story has changed multiple times, etc. But he has this unconditional trust in what comes out of GS over the Blazers and the reasoning.

What really is unnecessary and annoying is the caginess and then the snark. If you know something, share what you know. You don't have to give up your source to do that. Instead, he pokes fun at people trying to make sense of what's going on and doing this passive-aggressive gloating thing that he knows someone in the GS organization -- of course, not like they wouldn't have reason to lie or they couldn't be wrong. Just weird. If you can't say what your GS buddy knows, then stop snickering at Blazer fans. Just take your hands off the keyboard and be firm in the knowledge that you think you know what's going on and leave it at that.

This dude….his behavior….the expectations of him turning around our franchise “when he gets back!”, this whole situation… Just an absolute joke top to bottom.

Do you have some kind of insight into his "behavior"?
