Do we need a backup point if we have Turner? He played extensive periods with Boston as PG.
I think that is the exact reason that POR was willing to pay him higher then most of us are liking. Love the player. Not thrilled with the contract but I understand why.

Kaman cant play anymore. Hendo can. And 9 million a year is a good deal for him

We wouldn't have any minutes for him, so we would basically be using our remaining cap space on him so that we can trade him. And teams would know that we were retaining him to trade him so the value would be extremely low. Neil tried to trade Hendo before the deadline too, and nothing happened.

Im not saying i was dead set on keeping him. It just sucks to let a talented player go, when it was cheap(in comparison to say, evan turner) to resign him. Makes the batum trade look even worse.

I disagree. At 9 million per year he is good value in the new world. Guess we will see this upcoming year if turner was worth it.

It's pretty telling when a dude in his prime is getting a contract for half that of his contemporaries.

Here's something that keeps coming up on this board: That we should sign guys who are almost as good because they cost less. Teams are not awarded extra wins because their players are a 'good value'. Teams get more wins because their players are good players. Get the best players we can sign, draft or trade for. I don't care how much they cost.

Good for Gerald. He's a good guy and can get hot occasionally. Had some good blocks for us and won us 1 or 2 games. But I didn't want him back and taking minutes from our young guys.

He doesn't really make sense in Philly but that's their choice, and it probably means they're not going after Crabbe, which is nice.

I actually think he makes a ton of sense. They have a roster full of young guys who have no idea what it means to be a professional. Bringing in a guy like Henderson is perfect.

I think Gerald really missed being a starter...he's a leader..Philly will be happy to have him and he'll definitely be the man there

Still remains to be seen that turner will be a great player for us. Wont know until the season starts.

If he isnt, its gonna be mighty tough to get out of that contract.

The purpose of having quality players on cap friendly deals, is to make consolidation trades.

I have no issues with spending money on great players that will help us win. Just am not ready to put turner in that category.

I had in mind all season that Henderson would walk this summer. He was brought in as a stop gap if CJ hadn't blown up. I think we shift focus to a backup PG now.
Good call man!

Good call man!

Everyone else expected Henderson to go, too. When Olshey offered Batum around, he was looking for a top-10 pick. His best offer was one from the year before, Vonleh. Henderson was a throw-in.

I was talking about the shift of focus towards acquiring a backup PG.

Shout out to Gerald Henderson for being a big part of our bench mob last season and a true professional...great guy from everything I've seen and heard. Best of luck in Philly!

Sorry. That'll teach me not to post to a thread after reading only the last 3 posts. Oh yeah, I'll definitely change my ways.
