No, it was a major mistake.
How? Was this some how related to some Sergio love fest that I missed reading about?

I think whether interest (by which I mean, serious attempts to acquire the player) is smart or stupid depends on the price involved. If the Bulls wanted Batum (as an example), not having interest in Hinrich was perfectly rational.
I'm "interested" in Aaron Brooks as a backup point guard. That interest would evaporate quickly if the cost were particularly significant.
My general philosophy on evaluating GMs/front offices is that evaluating decision-making process requires actual knowledge of what the decision-maker is thinking, what was actually available and what their constraints were. Judging without those things is largely just opinions made of nothing more substantial than air.
That doesn't mean I don't think fans can have legitimate opinions on GMs but, lacking the ability to see and therefore judge the decision-making process, I think you have to work with results over a representative sample. I personally don't think that well under one year is a representative sample for an executive, who's plans can legitimately be 2-3 years in scope.

Here we go again: Blazers and Charlotte ARE still talking. Charlotte wants Rudy Fernandez included in the deal
Agent Andy Miller says if Fernandez is put in the Charlotte deal he will ask for a buyout and Rudy will go back to Spain.
More:
Miller says he has informed Michael Jordan of this stance. The deal is "open in terms of multiple scenarios and ongoing dialogue"
Dear goodness if that is true just give up Rudy. Last I checked Wallace > Rudy. If Roy can stay relatively healthy we have no use for Rudy. This is why trades never get done we are only willing to give up expirings/complete scrubs (such as Babbitt), but no one of any decent value.
Fuckin Andy Miller.
I say do the deal and they can flip Rudy to team he likes in another trade.
Fuckin Andy Miller.
-Tommy DeeCamby not at arena in Portland source says. Not sure what that means other than he's not at the arena in Portland.
Did you read the follow-up tweet? Rudy would ask for a buyout to go back to Spain. While Charlotte could refuse a buyout, I don't think they have interest in a disinterested Rudy. That Rudy is a barely sufficient bench player.
Wait what? What did he do except convey Rudy's intentions?
What possessed this guy to go off own his own and convey that sentiment to MJ?

Thanks, but I edited my post as I did not see it at first. Jeez.
Are you kidding me? Agents talk to these GMs/Owners all the time and if MJ was asking for Rudy to be put into the deal wouldn't it make sense for him to talk to the player's agent?
Regardless, if a buyout isn't granted, Rudy is contractually bound to show up, or get fined.
Regardless, if a buyout isn't granted, Rudy is contractually bound to show up, or get fined. It's just lame, because he has no say in this, but he might be becoming the reason why Portland doesn't land Crash.
You're exasperated at me for not looking into the future to when you'd go back and edit your post?
I like it.
