As others have said, this is a pretty minor procedure and I hope that it helps Greg feel better soon. I'm certainly not counting on him for much, if any, contribution this season, but I'm just rooting for him to be able to get back on the court as soon as he can.
This is worse than Celtics losing Len Bias. At least the fans and team was able to move on.
From Oden's Facebook:
"I’m sure you’ve all heard the news by now that I’m having a scope on my knee today. Unfortunately after months of intense rehab and training, the doctors discovered that a scope is necessary at this time. Thankfully this should be a quick recovery and I’ll be back to training soon. I’m committed as ever to doing everything and anything to get back on the court and be a part of the team’s success. Thanks for all the support, your well-wishes are much-appreciated. Good luck to my teammates this weekend!"

Portland C Greg Oden will undergo an arthroscopic procedure later today in Vail, CO to remove debris from his right knee.
I thought we beat OKC on the road?
He is not injury prone . . . just a string of bad luck.
It will be very interesting to hear how this surgery goes, when they get the camera in there they will have a much better look at his knee and may spot serious defects or hopefully confirm its a minor issue and his knee is otherwise sound.
I will be shocked if he plays a game this season, I'd say theres less than a 5% chance of that happening. If Greg wants to stay with the Blazers next season I'd for sure give him a minimum contract as the 15th man, if he is looking for more money then that we will have to see. First priority will be utilizing our cap space for a PG or C. We need to aim for starter level talents that are out there. If we can't add any good free agents we may want to just retain most of our players, Gerald, Nic, maybe Crawford or Felton. In that scenario we won't have any cap space. If it takes $5 million to bring back Oden for 1 season I wouldn't mind if theres no opportunity cost. That's if Paul Allen is willing to pay it.
But honestly I never got the feeling Oden loved the city of Portland. He may want to continue his rehab in a sunny climate or close to home in Indiana. I'm still a big fan of Oden and would like to see him rehab here next season but if he or the team wants to go in a different direction I can't really fault either one.
That face book line seems to be blazers PR spin.
how the Eff does he get blood clots? hes so young, well, so they say
Honestly it's not that hard and it's got nothing to do with age. If he's been somewhat sedentary they can form due to poor distal circulation. Of course the other possibility is that he really is fifty years old.
I'm kinda pissed they didn't do this surgery a few months ago.
