You may be on to something, he knows how to run a fast break, something our guards have no clue how to do.
thank you for depressing me.

I don't need to know what the prognosis is. How many minutes has Greg played in the last 2.5 years? How many knee surgeries has he undergone in that time period? How old is Greg? The guy is a walking disaster. You're probably one of those people who argued and screamed that Brandon Roy's career wasn't over and that we didn't know the truth about his knees. Where is Brandon Roy right now?
So who knows what this does to his rehab schedule for whatever other knee ligament problem he was having and whatever surgery he is yet to have on his other knee.
Boy, you must have had a really hard time in logic class. Greg's medical history is ugly and anybody thinking about signing him to a new contract next summer is going to look at it long and hard before they make any offer. I expect, however, that they'll do a bit more of an analysis than, "Hey, Brandon Roy had knee problems and he had to retire."
You're right... Brandon Roy played a lot more in his first four years in the league than Greg ever did.
Can we just amputate him at the knees and have him play pg?
He'd trip on his weiner, but probably less than Felton.
First, the team tells us nothing meaningful until after the fact, so that's not a fair question. Second, every medical procedure with Oden has quickly become a serious concern, so there's little reason to expect or believe this one to be any different.Look, I get the point about the number of surgeries that Greg's gone through. That said, has anybody heard a valid medical opinion that having clean out a bit of debris from a knee joint that's undergone microfracture surgery is a serious concern? Until somebody who knows what the hell they're talking about comes out and says something, all of the discussion here is about as significant as a fart in a hurricane.
From Oden's Facebook:
"I’m sure you’ve all heard the news by now that I’m having a scope on my knee today. Unfortunately after months of intense rehab and training, the doctors discovered that a scope is necessary at this time. Thankfully this should be a quick recovery and I’ll be back to training soon. I’m committed as ever to doing everything and anything to get back on the court and be a part of the team’s success. Thanks for all the support, your well-wishes are much-appreciated. Good luck to my teammates this weekend!"
If you really think Greg will come back and have a productive career, then I'd like to sell you some magic beans.
And that's all I'm trying to say here. The good news is that they scoped the knee, removed the debris, and didn't find anymore holes in the cartilage that would have required another MF surgery. It's the best outcome we've ever heard from one of Greg's surgeries. Beyond that, it's the same situation as usual: wait and see what happens.
Actually we haven't heard anything good or bad ... just that he had a surgery and that he didn't die on the operating table. Whatever follow-up or additional procedures he may or may not need is yet to be seen.
I think something is maybe being overlooked here. The whole idea that he's still chipping off articular cartilage through nothing more than rehab is pretty troubling ... and ultimately he just may not be a good candidate for yet another MF surgery again.

This is the point many people just want to ignore. The last *basketball* injury he suffered was the broken knee-cap. He was supposed to be back from that injury in the fall of 2010. Every game he has missed since then is for something that didn't happen on the court.Actually we haven't heard anything good or bad ... just that he had a surgery and that he didn't die on the operating table. "They went in there to do a [removal] of some loose articular cartilage in his right knee. They were able to go in there and do that successfully so nothing surprising. It played out like we hoped and expected it would."

According to Chad Buchanan, the surgery went as planned and there were no surprises:
I agree that it's a concern that he's losing more cartilage, but given that neither of us have a medical degree, it's pretty hard to know whether this is a real long range problem or not. It may be that Greg's cartilage is made of "chalk", as you suggested, IIRC. It may also be that there are other reasons that we don't understand that account for the damage. I'm certainly not optimistic that Greg will have a long career, but I'm going to wait and see what happens rather than reaching a knee-jerk conclusion.
This guy is barely a year older than me, I could not imagine having my body fail me so consistently as he has. The Oden bashing in here is nuts, I'd hate to know what it's like to have my knees not work no matter how bad I wanted it.

If this was part of a movie script no one would believe it.
Oden's body is like a zombie. It dies and comes back to life. Over and over. It hunts you down in the cemetary at midnight. You find an old creaky shack to hide in. He's out there searching for you. You're breathing as quietly as you can. He hears you. He's coming for you. You find a splintered board. You find a dusty book. You hold the board in your right hand and the book in the left. You'll get him with the old 1-2. He smashes the door to the ground. He's mad that you hid. You denied him his dinner. He lunges at you. He finishes you off. The zombie smacks his lips and limps to his next reincarnated village to find his next meal ticket.
Not funny man.
And let me be clear, Im not saying you crossed a line, or that it's too soon to be cracking those kind of jokes regarding Greg. It's just that what you said here? Not funny. It's clearly not your best effort and someone had to tell you for fear you'd do it again.
Faux sincerity?

You know who isn't making a knee jerk reaction? Greg. He jerks his knee, he'll be out until 2015.And really, "knee jerk?" You think people are coming to fairly gloomy conclusions based on a "knee jerk" reaction? I don't even know how to respond to that.
