Swanigan has a 3.7M cap-hold so he may have already been renounced
??? I'm not tracking several posters today.

If he is renounced, his cap hold disappeared. spotrac still has him, I assumed because his potential contract increase our trade options.

Giles is a very good talent when healthy. I'd actually like to see him start at the 4.

Tremendously talented! Has great vision and handles. But it's the health issues that are why he was let go. Missed almost 2/3rds of possible games so far early in his career. If healthy, and with a bit more range, would be one of the most talented 4's in the league.

I'm sure his medical report had something to do with that...they don't want another Festus Ezeli contract on the books for years...hoperfully he's past that and he's young so...there's an upside at this point but gambling on multiple years...I think it's wise to show caution here.
Its only a minimum contract though. If he ends up doing well, how would we be able to retain him.

Feel kind of sorry for Gabriel. He really played with a lot of heart and hustle during his brief time in Portland. On paper Giles may be worth more, but in reality he is likely to be this season's Pau Gasol. If some of the remaining FAs (Saric, Hernangomez) wind up signing cheap, this is going to look really foolish.

Saric is definitely intriguing. I would very much have been down with the Blazers pairing him with RoCo in our starting frontcourt.

Just like we retained Hoodie...guys also tend to want to stay here...I think Portland is easy for players agents to deal with...we paid Hoodie peanuts to come here...then gave him a raise and longer deal

I would've loved to get Dario Saric, too, but I'm guessing he'll end up getting more than we were ever able to offer. He would fit very nicely in a starting 5 with Dame, CJ, Nurk, & RoCo.

In the minority but I'd take Gabriel over a backup pg. His defensive potential is extremely exciting.

I wonder how many of the fans who are OK with the Giles signing were opposed to drafting Tillie due to his injury issues?

different sitch. using a limited draft pick v. taking a flier and signing dude to a minimum contract. if Giles were an UFA and signed, that’s more apples to apples.

If I'm not mistaken we can still carry Wenyen on a two way contract as well as Hoard or the new rookie
This brings up a couple other questions that I may have missed or skipped in other threads. With all the agreements and plans that had to occur to get where we are for the upcoming season, where did the league land on the G league and two way contracts? Were there any changes?

the latest I read was there will be g league this season, just altered. Also, two way guys can spend more time on the active roster. But I also believe to have full use of two way guys teams have to have a full roster.
