Apart from fanfest, where Aldridge didn't play at all and he was against other Blazers (one of whom he still tried to elbow), has Robinson played well yet?

Here's what he does well: rebound. That's not nothing - we need rebounders. But other than that? People say he plays defense. Really? I haven't seen much evidence. He seems to be held back by his temper and attitude as much as anything. I'm thinking he might turn out to be like Terrence Williams - somebody who LOOKS like a very good NBA player, and SHOULD be a very good NBA player, but somehow never makes it. I'm not moved by the fact that he was a top 5 pick: the number of top 5 busts is legion. I'm thinking the reason two teams gave up on him was his attitude as much as the fact that he doesn't seem to know how to play basketball.

I still want him to succeed. Teams need passionate guys. He sounds like a good guy off the court. But would he accept going down to the D-League to work on his game? Would that even help? Can we hire Charles Oakley to be his personal coach?

(Fun fact: he's shooting 31% in preseason. Will "never met a shot he didn't like" Barton is shooting DOUBLE that.)

He plays like a bull in a china shop. His college coach is enormously overrated. Good recruiter, awful coach.

Like Meyers IMO he gets this season to at least show some improvement and that he is worth keeping around or getting any minutes. If I had to bet I'd lay my money on Trob becoming a decent NBA player over Meyers, I'd like to see them both do well.

That spin move of his has to stop.

He needs to be set up right at the rim - he's clearly not ready to create space for himself.

This team needs a legit bigman coach.

Exactly! He's trying to play like a SF; when he has the body of a PF. He needs to work on his back to the basket game. Stop trying to go around his man. He needs to fucking run them over!

Maybe stotts should show video of power bigs and make him concentrate like that. In order for T rob to warrant serious burn; it's gotta be proving he can play fundamental basketball

He needs to control his temper. He's not going to win any points with the coach for staring at the refs instead of running back on defense.

There was a reason why 2 teams were so quick to give up on such a high draft pick and why we got him so cheap.

Well that's the good thing. It's not like he's Oden and we are wanting him to succeed because he was our lotto pick. I think most of us just want him to succeed because he's a perfect back up type for Aldridge. That's of course if he stops playing like a SF

I'm not worried. I expected nothing of him coming out of college and my expectations didn't go up after he was sent packing by two teams, so anything he provides is a bonus. Beyond physical stature, I never could figure out what anyone saw in him. If it weren't for playing at a major program like Kansas, I think he would have blended in with the fringe first round talent from small schools and overseas.

Little early to give up on him. He has some major issues he has to work on but if he didn't we wouldn't have gotten him for cheap.

It's just preseason.

Signed,
The "it's just preseason" troll

Well, yeah. The Kings have like 6 PFs and were the wrong team to draft him and the Rockets were more interested in having room to sign Howard than in developing a young PF. He's a project, but he's got a great NBA body and a ton of athleticism. It's going to take some time, but I think he'll be good eventually.

I'm gonna give him 9 months into the season before giving up on him...

Rasta, how 'bout I get back to you in about 3 or 4 months?

Fair enough . . . that is more than the first two teams gave him.

T. Rob can get to a Hickson rebounding % number. And honestly, do we really need another scorer? I just want defense and rebounding. Maybe develop a passing game that hits cutters. I want T. Rob as that hard hat player. One that plays tough. We don't need finesse with this cat.

How can you fall out of love with him...... We for him for free!

So have some people fallen out of like then?

I think my point is more "We haven't seen enough to tell one way or another". You can't really hate a person unless you really know them as well. I think we need more sample size. We can revisit this thread in a few more months.

I think he has a lot of talent. We just need to be patient.

He just needs to figure out his identity. He has the tools to be a power forward, but we need a big man coach in the worst way. He's not an Aldridge and I really don't want him trying to model his game after LMA.

I would love to see him play more of a "Gary Trent" type role; excluding the thug life lifestyle.

Gary Trent, Brian Grant, Charles Oakley type of guy. That's what I would like to see. We need that kind of big man coach.

No. Serious question: were you ever "in love" with him? Seems like you've been dogging on him for a long time and now that he hasn't played to your standards you're wondering if everyone feels the same way as you. I think very few if any are giving up on him. However, there are some that weren't on his bandwagon in the first place.
