no but the optics of a team plagued with scandal (and overlooking abuse against women) hiring a guy with his checkered past is the epitome of tone deaf (tone blind? i dunno). nearly universally, their moves this summer have been deemed a disaster.

that team now has the front office, coach, and player (look up porzingis' exit from NY and the stuff the Mavs brushed under the rug) with a history now, and a leader in Cuban who seemingly doesn't give a shit.

All this... for jason kidd. just glad it aint my team.

"Mike D'Antoni performed very well in his interview with Portland, and obviously he doesn't have to prove himself to anybody. But whatever plan he brought to the table to operate that team, I am told was very well received. The Blazers are also aware of the fact that if Milwaukee loses this series and Bud gets fired, he would be a candidate in Milwaukee. Chauncey is still a candidate there, but I'm told D'Antoni scored some points with a certain all star point guard who was also there at his interview."

If the Blazers Brass thinks she's the best coach for this team at this time, that's fine. But if the statement in that tweet is the reason, that's the worst possible reason. I kinda don't think that tweet is accurate.

Weren’t you one of the people saying the Mavs job is better?

Also, everything you just listed is a point against your hypothesis that “it’s not just a Portland thing.”

As if it weren’t “just a Portland thing”… all the reasons you listed would be why he wouldn’t even be able to sniff the word Dallas on a keyboard.

what are you going on about again? I'm just saying Jason Kidd is a horrible coach and Mark Cuban is a dumbass who just undid any of the contrition he faked in the aftermath of their front office scandal. Their fans on every forum are pissed.

You said “it’s not just a Portland thing.”
I said, “ok, show me where Kidd is forced to withdraw candidacy because of the backlash.” Which would signify its “not just a Portland thing.”
You responded with “no but the optics, everything they’ve done this off season has been a disaster.”
So you conceded that he wasn’t forced to withdraw, while giving a bunch of reasons he plausibly should be forced to withdraw and/or never be considered in the first place. Which again, goes against your hypothesis that “it’s not just a Portland thing.” or else he would’ve never be considered.
Then I brought up the fact that you trashed the Mavs organization and was curious if you were one of the people saying the “Mavs” because of Doncic is a better job than Portland… once again, while trashing the organization, the owner, and every move they’ve made thus far this offseason.
Hope that clears it up for you: seems pretty straightforward but you, for some reason, don’t want to admit that Portland is different than many cities.
Which - by the way - isn’t a bad thing. So not sure why your trying to die on this hill.

I pointed to those Mavs forum pieces to show that the backlash towards a potential Kidd hire is not unique to Portland. The fact that dumbass Mark Cuban ignores all the optics doesn't remove the fact that nearly everyone in Dallas hates the hire.

What do you not understand about this? Follow the logic.

You should see how many people I have on ignore at this point. I imagine if I didn't have them on ignore this place would be much less enjoyable. I have quite a few...... fans?..... who like to constantly shit on my posts.

i don't mind the counter points, but there's a level of respect people used to have here. now it's all just snark and condescension when people can't get their point across in a cogent manner. whatever it is, the level of discourse has gone down a tank.

maybe it's just a few posters, or maybe i'm just out-growing this place. or maybe everyone's just frustrated with the direction of the team without hope. i dunno. oh well.

I would lean towards it being the current status of the team.

There was quite a bit of name calling and toxicity leading up towards LMA leaving. The people who predicted he would leave got a lot of heat from the people who thought there was no way in hell that he would leave.

The team was at a turning point that summer and we're now at another crossroads. That seems to bring out the worst in people.

this is 100% accurate. It use to be a nice environment with just Mixum stirring the pot. Seems like there are more mixums now than respectful posters
